The Listening Sky (second try)

Name: Arios Felwyn

Concept: Nomadic Horseman

Motivation: To find his lost lover

I remember...

I remember the grasses of my home. I was raised in the plains, surrounded by horses. They are like family to us, stalwart companions who will always guide us home if we are lost. Personally, I'm not sure if that was ever true, but when I met the horse that would be my companion, I knew that we'd be together for a long time.

I remember the Spring Festival. I remember the horses, celebrating my father's life with the rest of my family, trekking to Sijan to bury him and his horse, but what I remember most is her. Flowers in her hair, eyes like the noontide sky. I still feel strange when I think about her.

I remember the romance. Our families forbade us to meet, as she was slated to marry another man, and me another woman. But that didn't stop us. We met at night. Every night, we would go somewhere different, with only my horse and the stars as our witnesses. It was a whirlwind of color and feeling that you can't put into words.

But what I remember most is when she was taken from me. Our luck didn't last, something I knew would happen but didn't care. We were found out. Her fiancee demanded recompense. I gave him a rude gesture. He drew blades, but I swung first, and he fell to the ground, dead. The next day, she was gone, taken by her family to be somewhere safe. That, or maybe to punish her. I don't like either prospect regardless.

I remember the fallout. Envoys tried to stem the anger, but it was too little too late. Our clans went to war not long after. I was consumed by guilt, and my horse and I fled the fighting. I fled the plains, but people followed me, chased me, sent by her family to kill me so that they may take back her family's honor on their own. I didn't even try fighting. I just wanted to cleanse my shame. I wanted death.

Instead, I got light.

I remember the light, shining on my body, glowing on my soul. And then a voice rang out, saying something burned in my memory forever.

Have faith. Your destiny lies beyond this despair. I shall help you.

The light faded from my eyes, and my conviction returned. I defeated my assailants, retrieved my horse, and continued on.

I only have one quest now: to redeem myself, to find her and get her back. And if I should find any more who suffer like she and I did, Heaven help them.

Because I sure won't. And I'll never stop until love flies free.

I guess I should actually make the little list of stuff.

Name: Ulfir

Concept: Viking Warrior

Caste: Full Moon

Motivation: Safeguard the East from the predations of the Wyld

So far we have...

Zoronos

MrSerious

EffingSkrakes (Rebellious Green Sun Prince)

Lord of the Storm (The Horseman -- Solar or Lunar?)

xarvh (Unwise Forsaken)

Feantari (Changing Moon or Casteless)

Reaver (Zenith Gladiator)

Axelgear (Reluctant Robin Hood Night Caste)

and Norts (Viking Lunar)

...aaand when the site went "AAAGH!" we lost some posts, so I know I'm missing something.

I guess, in lieu of making a new character, I'll re-apply with the same character that was in the game the first time around. (I'll probably tweak mechanics some, the previous mechanics were, while interesting, not necessarily balanced)

Bahati Eshe

Caste: Casteless or Changing Moon

Motivation: Protect the abused and survive stronger (likely will evolve into something more specific when she gets a wider view of creation)

rough idea here, using casteless char creation

Former sex slave from the south east. Cheetah totem. Rough idea is something like the 'more deadly than the male' trope with a definite chip regarding certain types of men.

Hey, If you'd be open to it, i'd like to try a Renegade Midnight Abyssal Necromancer. Well, really more of a battlemage, melee/Necro user. Is that ok?

Any openings left? I have a Solar with a good backstory that I had made up for a different game that stalled right out of the gate. :(

here's a Dawn character I built for a game a long long time a go but never got to play, fully fleshed out, maybe a bit too oriented on combat, but ready to rock nonetheless.

Lemme know if he's worthy of your attention

I will give it one more day to let anyone who expressed interest you know who you are) post their character. Then I will close the iron door on you!

Name: Knowledge Inexorable

Caste: Twilight

Concept: Explorer Savant

Motivation: To return the knowledge of the First Age to the Age of Sorrows

Pre-Exaltation, she was a skilled mortal assistant simply named Vivid to a Prince of the Earth – Vermillion Wind - a metal worker and artisan who specialised in making clockwork contraptions that he sold to rich Guild merchants or tithed to the Blessed Isle. Her parents had given her into the care of the Artisan as an indentured apprentice to teach his trade and ensure a better future for the family once she came of age. She was released from her apprenticeship as a journeyman throughout the Threshold on her way to becoming a Master, following the steps her life seemed to lay out before her.

Then Bao nu Shi entered her life and altered her destiny forever. Under the guise of an eccentric old merchant and retired Scavenger Lord he caught the ear of the young woman and told her fantastic tales of a better time. Of a time when flying vehicles were common, homes were all temperature controlled, when the clockwork toys she laboured so hard to create were automatons that could think and act of their own volition. Bao nu Shi told her of the First Age. The tales spun of golden cloth shone behind her eyes and made her dream of what could be.

----

"Last time I was this stupid, you were just a bedraggled kitten clinging to rocks mid-river. I'll never the day I saved you since it was when I hit paydirt and I became one of the Solars. Saw a sword covered in runes and and walked straight towards it, setting off a trap which nearly killed me. Just like today."

Wincing and clutching at her side she mused at the cougar which sat placidly in the clearing both creatures still wrapped in the same golden fire that had saved her. "That wily old bastard put us up to it, I'm sure. Should have known better than to go sneaking off on my own."

Entry to the thread is by request, so PM me.

While we're waiting for that, tell me about you guys' preferences. The first story is about claiming a lost manse in the Southeastern jungles. How much of the trek do you want me to include? Do you want to encounter lots of monsters, or would you rather just skip that bit? Do you want it to be somewhat realistic (having to worry about boiling water and keeping mold from growing on your gear) or ignore that stuff? And how much dice rolling are you comfortable with to get past obstacles?

@ST: Uhm, I'd say we include whatever is cool or fun to play, after all Exalted has not much pretenses of being realistic.

It depends what is the theme of the game.

If it is just random people ass kicking other random people (which I am VERY fine with) put all the monsters that can inspire us to higher feats of stuntage.

If we have plot, drama and character development, put the monsters that are important for the story, give us more varied challenges such as lack of information, inability to recognize friends from foes, contrasting objectives, difficult ethical choices, mysteries and so...

Question: since this will be a combat-heavy game, would Jon Chung's Solar Hero Style Revision be kosher?

I actually need only the first charm, so that I can fight barehanded against people with Grand weapons.

Oops, that should have been "request to join".

As for "Chungira"'s reworkings, I need to think about it. I am cautious towards anybody who might be a disguised Primordial.

If we're playing low essence exalts, I'm fine with a bit of rp around the survival aspects of our journey.

The greater the challenge, the more awesome the victory !

Just... don't kill us along the way
