The Legend of the Legendary Mages
- The Legend of Heroes: Trail of Cold Steel, Akashic Records, Alderamin in the sky, Valkyrie Chronicles, and Fullmetal Alchemist are the five biggest sources of inspiration for this roleplay idea. All five sources focus on two central themes: Military and Magic. Those two themes will form the setting and plot for the role play. The role play will center around an Academy and multiple factions with differing ideals.
For this roleplay, you, the roleplayer, will create an academy student mage, academy teacher mage, military mage, or evil mage. For more information, select the "FACTIONS" and "ROLES" tabs. - On the year 1467 and the day, September 2nd, new and returning students were welcomed into the Jalder Military Academy. The students quickly filed into their respective seats for the academy's entrance ceremony. After several minutes passed, a student with the highest marks on their written exam delivered a speech to the students. At first, everything seemed pleasant with the ceremony running smoothly, but when the student finished their speech, a magical burst of lighting erupted from inside the building. Such an incredible display of magical power garnered the attention of everyone within the room. From the lightning's dissipation, an overweight, burly man appeared near the podium. He greeted the new students, "Welcome class of 1467. I understand that you all worked so hard on your entrance exams, but we're thorough at the Jalder Military Academy." A slight pause followed, before the man readied himself, "For your final examination, all of you must show your current magical skill through a series of trials. Unlike your previous written exam, this one involves field work. If you fail this test, you'll be rejected from the Academy." When his statement ended, the man pointed at the auditorium doors, "Now, go and prove yourself worthy to learn at the Jalder Military Academy."
- Jalder Military Academy (JMA)
-
In order to deal with their enemies, the Legant Empire establishes the Jalder Military Academy, an elite military academy where students learn how to efficiently use magic for military purposes as well to attain an education. The curriculum requires at minimum two years' worth of credit from any student hoping to graduate from the academy. Those who succeed and graduate from the school obtain powerful positions within the Legant Empire's army. The Jalder Military Academy welcomes all citizens of the Legant Empire to apply; however, the entrance exams are challenging.
- Scholars of Gnosis (SOG)
-
Due to the Legant Empire's ban on certain spells as well as the empire's secrecy, several individuals created the Scholars of Gnosis. The group acts as a terrorist cell bent on stealing the empire's classified information. The scholars utilize ruthless, taboo spells to harm their enemies, seeking knowledge above safeguarding human life. Despite the organization's relative newness, it's shady dealings and support from the Legant Empire's enemies have allowed the organization to grow. Anyone can join the Scholars, but it's extremely risky.
- Specint Mage Corps (SMC)
-
For secretive operations, the Legant Empire uses the Special Intelligence Mage Corps, or SMC. It's a secret organization known only by its members, officials, and a few outsiders.
- Legant Knights (LK)
-
The Legant Knights are the Legant Empire's main military. Any citizen of the Legant Empire can apply for a position as a new recruit once they reach the age of sixteen. In order to start out as an officer in the Legant Knights, one must graduate from the Jalder Military Academy.
- Discover the many places of the Kovolo continent, the secrets of ancient civilizations, and the empire's true purpose. Expect multiple themes to be developed and expanded upon such as classism, deceit, and many more. Characters will either ally with one another, or face off against each other depending on their loyalties and ideals. I will direct the roleplay with its main plot, but characters' actions will definitely make an impact towards the plot. Role players are free to suggest plot ideas.
- Fantasy. There will be magic. Technology will include trains, communicators, and simple guns but nothing too advanced like computers. I'm borrowing the setting from my sources. If you have any specific questions relating to technology, I'll answer them.
- 1. Magic: Your character will learn and grow their magic. There will be many spells to learn, meaning each character will be unique from one another.
2. Combat: I'll have a system in place to determine combat, but it won't be anything too complex.
3. Exploration: The setting will change multiple times according to the plot, so expect varying locations.
4. School: Since the roleplay will revolve around a military academy, watch as your characters grow through the school's two year education system.
5. Factions: Characters will belong to different, or similar factions. This allows interesting character interaction to occur between allies and enemies.
6. I'll add more Mechanics, whenever any pop up into my mind. - Academy Student: Advance, socialize, and/or discover yourself, while learning at the Academy.
Academy Teacher: Lead the students to success, or failure.
Military Mage: As a mage of the Empire, you must ensure the safety of the populace.
Evil Mage: You work with an organization bent on advancing magic regardless of the dangers.
The above four roles are described loosely. Your character can have different motivations, but those are the general ideas of the roles. You're also free to choose multiple roles, if the combined roles make sense. For example: An academy teacher working undercover as a military mage, or an Evil Mage disguised as an Academy Student. - 1. A role player can only post again in the role play if another role player has posted after the prior role player's post. This is to ensure everyone has a chance to role play and catch up with the story. Maximum of One Post per day in the IC thread in order to give others a chance to respond, unless everyone in the scenario is at the same pace.
2. Standard RPN rules
3. My word is law.
4. Post at least a paragraph, if you're roleplaying in a group scenario. I'm pretty lenient, so a paragraph to me is just several sentences. I'm not putting any strict limitations, but don't abuse my leniency.
5. Post at least once a week, or let me know if you can't post for the week.
6. Other requirements may be posted, but the one's above are my general ones.
