THE LAST OF US.
Hello everyone! This thread is dedicated to characters for the roleplay: THE LAST OF US. Please read through the dedicated tabs below before posting a character! Feel free to ask questions regarding characters, plot or really anything here.
Some important info:
- You're welcome to have multiple characters and keep in mind you're able to make characters further down the track!
- Codes are aesthetic and usually well-organised but are not needed (if you're looking for easy to follow codes please check out these wonderful threads: 1, 2, 3).
- This is based on applications per member, not characters, so please keep that in mind! Meaning if one of your characters is accepted your others are (unless there is something drastic I believe needs to be changed).
- Keep your characters realistic, interesting and diverse (e.g., different backgrounds, ethnicities, etc) as I will be choosing the most intriguing characters!

GROUPS.
To help people avoid major spoilers on the wiki, I've created a short description of the significant groups/affiliations within TLOU's setting in Seattle. Your character/s doesn't necessarily need to be part of any group, but it may be useful in crafting backstories or just to get a general idea of the world.
— WASHINGTON LIBERATION FRONT.
"May your survival be long. May your death be swift."
The WLF, informally known as the Wolves, is a militant paramilitary organization located in Seattle, and are currently at war with the Seraphites for control of the area. The group have been active for the last fifteen years after overthrowing the FEDRA in a former Quarantine Zone. While they have multiple outposts around Seattle, their main base of operations is in the CenturyLink Field stadium which houses residents. Members are usually experienced fighters equipt with military equipment and are known for using guard dogs. They are known to be fiercely loyal and deeply care for one another, yet their loyalty has been tested with the leader endorsing torturing and maiming captured outsiders to gain information.
— SERAPHITES.
"May she guide me through the storm. May she keep me calm."The Seraphites, known as 'Scars' by WLF, are a primitivist cult who worship a woman that considered herself a prophet, preaching that mankind's fall was brought on by their own sin and efforts to live in a machine-dependent world. Following her teachings and beliefs, members mainly reside on a small island a few miles from Seattle's shore. After the death of the prophet, her words about peace and non-violence were twisted by the current elders which has led to ritual killings and an obsessive war with the WLF. Seraphites primarily use melee weapons and bows per their belief in no machinery or 'old world' resources. Therefore, they are adept in stealth, relying on ambushes to fight against the WLF. Furthermore, all members have "Glasgow Smile" scars on their cheeks, shaved or braided hair depending on gender and wear dark trenchcoats with hoods.
— FIREFLIES.
"When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light."
The Fireflies were a revolutionary militia group who originally revolted against military oppression in numerous Quarantine Zones in the hopes of restoring the US government. They were an organised group who were still searching for a vaccine, yet their presence has dwindled with a lack of new research or discoveries. Therefore, a few years ago the remaining members voted to disband the organisation, with some members joining the WLF or going rogue. However, there have been rumours that ex-Firefly members are attempted to restart the organisation.
— FEDERAL DISASTER RESPONSE AGENCY.
One of the last remnants of pre-outbreak U.S government, FEDRA took control of the military and declared martial law, creating the Quarantine Zones within major cities for uninfected citizens. Having complete control of these zones, treatment of citizens was harsh and unfair, with public executions and strict rations. Considering these conditions, most Quarantine Zones have fallen to revolting citizens, Fireflies or succumbed to lack of resources or the infected. FEDRA has long since abandoned the Seattle Quarantine Zone.
- plot
plot.
(this is the plot from the interest thread for your ease of access.)
It all began in 2013, a type of fungus known as the 'Cordyceps Brain Infection' which seemingly only infected ants, mutated in South American crops, and proceeded to infect the first human. It only took a few months for the infection to rapidly spread throughout the globe, infecting over 60% of the world's population.
22 years have passed since the old world came to an abrupt end, yet mankind is still fighting back, adapting, and surviving in the harsh, new world. The United States turned into a police state under the control of homeland security and the military. After martial law was declared, Quarantine Zones were set up by the Federal Disaster Response Agency (FEDRA) and the military to protect the remaining uninfected population of the United States by separating them from the infected.
Over time, most of these zones fell to the infection, local uprisings by the inhabitants, or were simply abandoned after running out of supplies. At least a few remain operational, with the authorities still in control. In other cases, Quarantine Zones have been converted into bases by groups such as the Fireflies, Washington Liberation Front (WLF), and Hunters.
The journey for our characters is set in the post-apocalyptic Seattle which has succumbed to mother nature, giving a whole new meaning to 'concrete jungle'. The city is a constant warzone between two prominent groups: the WLF, a thriving militia group that caused FEDRA to withdraw in Seattle, and the Seraphites, a primitivist cult who worship a new god. Combined with the threat of the infected, Seattle is a dangerous and neverending struggle to survive in.
A new hope has arisen in the form of a supposed safe-haven on the outskirts of Seattle, a settlement that is run and governed by citizens, who not only want to survive but to live. For one reason or another, your character has decided to investigate the legitimacy of the rumours and broadcasts.
Upon arrival, the settlement is beyond disarray and seemingly abandoned. Evidently, it appeared too good to be true. However, your character wasn't the only one to follow hope and the longing for a better life. In the abandoned settlement stood others, all from different paths of life having converged to find a note that detailed a new flicker of hope: Santa Barbra.
