C'est vrai,Well for instance, he has a whole day before when he's supposed to arrive. Most people won't get there until then if they value efficiency in using their time. In the meantime, he has basically a whole day to explore the area and at least get his bearings. Should he happen to wander a little further than intended, he could easily find his way into a fateful encounter of sorts with a group of people that just happened to be fleeing at top pace. That should be interesting to say the least.
It really is up to you, but it's not so fun relying on timeskips to do the job, n'est pas?
