“Little by little, the old world crumbled, and not once did the king imagine that some of the pieces might fall on him.”
This Kingdom is crumbling. The old ways are disappearing; a new nation is to be born amongst the rubble.
Meoria was a Kingdom which once prospered beneath the Thiputian Dynasty, from father to son for as long as time had given it note in the books of clergymen. There had never been an empty throne, and there had always been Thiputian blood to occupy it.
Yet, as all good things come to an end, it seemed the era of peace would too. The Eabroudian Dynasty, locked Meoria into war after rising tensions and pointed fingers - hate festering in wounds left by one another till the spark blew into an inferno as the Eabroudian King’s ambassador was found murdered on a diplomatic trip to Meoria.
The conflict ravaged Meoria, fields were razed, cattle slaughtered, men killed. Lands running red with the blood of a thousand soldiers, and a thousand more till they pushed back the enemy. Seven years at war left Meoria destitute and ruined. Famine swept the country, killing peasants en masse - grain was seized, inflation rose till even a loaf of bread went from coppers to gold pieces.
Only months after the war came to an end with a mutually agreed armistice, Eabroudia took advantage of the climate and began backing puppet revolutionaries, as well as nobles with financial aid alongside shipments of weapons, food, and armour. Sparking a civil war to further destabilize Meoria’s position. The peasant classes are beginning to bear their teeth, coming to the end of what tether they have left - striking, rising up, joining rebellious causes. And one knows, that with the proletariat behind a cause - the crown will fall.
King Thiputian can barely keep his court together, where lurks the beginnings of betrayal and treason amongst its ranks. Lords and Ladies are challenged in their loyalty, whilst the Spymaster, Lord Blackbriar seems to lurk among the privy council with intent. The King is growing old and sick with age, his mind is slipping and people are beginning to count the days to his death.
Who will ascend to the broken throne?
This is a reboot of the initial "Shattered Crown" although has been adapted due to prior loss of interest. While we still want a low fantasy setting, there is going to be magical aspects. Not fireballs or lightning bolts, but far more of the occult, alchemy, and mystics - further to be explained in the character sheets (:This Kingdom is crumbling. Who will ascend to the broken throne?
Unfortunately, there will be no guns nor gunpowder, but perhaps some form of greek fire and all other medieval base weapons.
The plot shall be centred around the King's Court and main city for now, where we can introduce political intrigue and dynastic succession squabbles. Interaction is key, as many know to a good long lasting roleplay.
If there is lack of being able to put your character into play, I will try and ensure to draw you into the larger group or otherwise xx
