The Inventor's Neko

Itsuki made his way over to the teenager section of the store as he looked at a few books. Once he was there he decided to pick out mostly from the 'fantasy' section as it seemed to fit her well, but also a few romantic novels too. It was a typical girl thing, so it just felt right to Itsuki. Now he made his way over to a science section, picking out two books for himself and one from a normal bookshelf, it was a crime novel, and Itsuki found that a bit interesting from time to time . He finished rather quickly as he knew what he was looking for and began looking for Korina to see how she waa doing. Perhaps five books were a bit too much for her, thinking it was her first time in a bookstore after all.

Korina still hasn't chosen even one book. Sure she could see the pictures on the cover but she was just unsure of herself. Unsure of what the book was about. Really she could pick out five random books but was it possible to choose the wrong one? All of this was just frustrating, as if this was some huge life decision. But it wasn't. It was a book. She shook her head and took a deep breath to calm herself down deciding to choose the books with covers that had pictures she liked. It really was the only way for her to make a decision on this. She held five thin books in her arms and then went to go find Itsuki hoping she wouldn't get lost in the shelves.

Itsuki looked around for Korina, as she might have gotten a bit lost among all the bookshelves. He walked over to the children's section to see Korina not there. She must have finishes already. He looked around for her, the books under his arms as he saw Korina and waved her over. "Korina, you finished already?" Itsuki asked her, looking at her with a smile.

When she saw a familiar face she is a little relieved, when she was wandering a part of her felt that he left without her. She walked over to him and looked down at the books in her arms "I-I think so" she answered with uncertainty in her voice "not exactly sure what I picked" she added and held him out to show him "they're all picture books though, I'm pretty sure"

Itsuki looked at some of the books she had picked out. They were a good beginning to learn how read, and the accomplishment of choosing herself must be a good feeling. He smiled as he made his way over to pay for the books as they were on their way home. "Anything you want to make for dinner?" Itsuki asked her smiling.

Korina was gazing out the window again as they drove as she usually was. The bag full of books and painting supplies sat beside her "all I really know how to make well is the stew, but that will get boring after a while. Do you have anything specific you wish to have?" She turned to look at him through the rear view mirror

"Let me see.... maybe we should prepare it together then? To learn new recipes, I believe I have a cookbook laying around somewhere in my office," Itsuki said as he looked back at Korina, thinking of what he had in the refrigerator and laying around. "Maybe we should eat some fish? I haven't eaten fish in a long while," Itsuki said as he could remember he bought fish to eat one day, but never got around to do it, since he was too busy with his work.

Katrina perked up a little bit her ears perking up as well. "Fish sounds wonderful, do you by any chance have salmon?" She tilted her head with a small smile "I actually know a great recipe to go with salmon" she gave him a nodded putting her hands in her hands in her lap "if you want to try it of course"

"Salmon... Is that the red fish?" Itsuki asked her as he had never prepared fish, it was usually some kind of fancy food for the rich people, so he was never really enticed to try it out. His brother would always boast about the salmon that their parents had served on one of their business dinners, but honestly Itsuki was never listening to his brother's rants. "If you know a good recipe then it's settled. We're having salmon, the red fish," Itsuki said as he was happy he didn't have to search his library of books, there was at least one bookshelf in each room in the entire house after all. Itsuki didn't need all those books, but he didn't have the heart to thrown them away either.

"Yes that's the red fish, it was a special meal I had with my family, sometimes we would go fishing in the river, my mother found it to be a blessing that we caught salmon" Korina smiled and nodded softly looking down to her hands then back out the window "it's simple really, just butter and onions. And yet it tastes like a meal fit for a king" she laughed a little and shook her head "sorry, I'm rambling"

"No. It's good to have memories. I am just not good with fish types. I got it in the freezer, so you should be able to make it. It sounds very good after all," Itsuki answered her, smiling as he heard her laugh from the back seat. They arrived home in no time as Itsuki grabbed the bag filled with books and the bag filled with painting equipment before he headed for the door. He gave Korina the house key as he was carrying too much to unlock the door himself. "Would you mind to unlock the door for us?" He asked her with a smile.

Korina looked at the key and then back to him "oh, yes of course" she bit her lip and faced the door turning the key a few times to get it into the hole properly. Turning it one way she out her hand on the handle and tried the door but it was still locked, it was only when she turned it the other way that the door successfully opened and with a smile she stepped inside "I could have gotten the bags for you" she noted

"Well, you seem a lot smaller than me so I just figured it was a better idea if I did it," Itsuki answered her honestly as her arms were rather thin and looked fragile. He didn't want to push her too far and make her carry something she couldn't handle. Judging by Korina's actions so far, it seemed as she didn't exactly know how to "hold back", but Itsuki wasn't exactly better at it either. "I'll find the salmon for you, so you can leave place the items you bought where you want it," Itsuki said and put the bags down in the hallway on one of the nearby tables, as he walked over to a door in the kitchen, down into the basement to find the freezer. It took him little time to come back with a frozen salmon, and looked at Korina a bit quizzical. "This was salmon right?" He asked, still unsure if he had gotten it right.

When he left to get the fish she frowned a little bit, it was just a few books and some paint, it wasn't like she wanted to carry a couch. She sighed and took the paints into her room and the books into the living room before walking into the kitchen to see the fish. A small smile was on her face and she nodded "yes, that's salmon. I'll get it ready as fast as I can" she took the fish and got out a few onions and butter as well as a baking pan to put everything on.

"I'll leave it to you then," Itsuki said happily to her and gave her a few pets on the head, as he looked at his watch before a small smile was on his face too. It wasn't as late as he had originally thought, so he had some extra time to move down the easel to her room, it wasn't heavy, but it had no purpose in his office, so he might as well move it down to her room. "I'll be working in my office, so take your time," Itsuki told her as he walked up to his office, found the easel and carried it down the stairs, almost knocking over a couple of pictures on his way, as he placed it in her room. He smiled at his own accomplishment as he walked up to his office, filing in a few documents as he was working.

Korina started to cook and couldn't help but laugh a little as she heard some small crashes. She peaked her head outside and into the hallway seeing him put the easel in her room and the trail of pictures left behind him. Maybe tomorrow she could cut some of the flowers to bring inside and try out the new paints. With that thought in her mind she went back to cooking the meal. When she was done she set the table this time adding another place for her in the other side knowing he would insist like the night before. She wasn't giving to plan on getting used to it however, of there were guests over she would eat later or in her room. She walked up to his office to call him down.

Itsuki was caught up in his books as he was rushing from one side of his office to the next one, skipping through pages in at least three books at the same time. Accidentally he knocked over his coffee mug as he began picking up the pieces in a hurry, at least the coffee mug was empty. As he was in a rush, he slightly cut himself and cursed under his breath. "Okay, carefully pick them up... haste is waste..." Itsuki said as he calmed down his own nerves, picking up the remaining pieces and placed them on his desk, he had to clean those later. He walked back over to where he had put down his book, and began skipping through the pages ignoring his hand that was dripping blood on the floor. It wasn't unusual for Itsuki to be clumsy when he was rushing into stuff, it was a flaw being a inventor as they got easily excited and ended up rushing into it.

"Sir?" She asked quietly not hearing a response when she knocked. She slowly opened the door and looked inside seeing the sudden mess, as if everything was thrown everywhere, papers, books, tools, there was even some broken glass still left from the mug. When she looked at Itsuki he was frantically running back and forth from book to book it was dizzy just watching him. "Wha- what happened in here?" She asked but stopped where she was seeing red drip from his hand "Itsuki" without tripping over Anything on the floor she walked over to grab his arm to stop him "Itsuki, your hand is bleeding..."

Itsuki was completely lost in thought as he was on the verge of figuring out a math equation he had been troubled over for a small while now, the floor had a small trail where he had been walking for a few minutes as the glass had cut quite deep into his hand, but his head was too busy solving his equation that he noticed. It was only when Korina grabbed his arm, that Itsuki stopped thinking about it and turned to smile to Korina. "Sorry, is dinner ready?" he asked as he hadn't heard a word she had been saying, he was far too busy in his own head to be listening to Korina's worried question, but he hadn't ignored her deliberately, he simply wasn't used to not being able to go on a rant for hours, skipping meals and such was no longer an option as he lived with someone.

Korina looked up at him concerned and confused "well yes, but your hand." Her gaze went down to the gash in her arm and her ears dropped "you can tell me what happened later, but where's your first aid kit?" Suddenly now she was taking charge, someone had too. With the state of his office she wasn't quite sure where his head was at,me specially the way he disregarded the state of his injury. She took his arms careful not to touch his hand and pulled him out of the disaster zone and downstairs to the living room

"It's in the bathroom why you-" Before Itsuki finished his sentence Korina was already leading him downstairs. It was only now that he realized the cut in his hand had gotten quite deeper as he had moved it around for a while, it didn't hurt, but Korina seemed worried so he didn't object to what she was doing. They walked into the living room as Itsuki sat down in his favorite chair and looked at Korina. "It's nothing serious, this isn't unusual you see," Itsuki said in an attempt to calm her down, as it was quite common for him to cut himself or hurt himself during one of his rambles. That's was when his head traveled to another dimension.

Korina shook her head and left the room to get the first aid in the bathroom. An injury was an injury whether it's happened before shouldn't make the next one any left of a concern. When she came back in she set the aid down by her feet as well as a bowl of water and a rag on the table "with a cut this deep the bleeding won't stop on it's own..." She said quietly kneeling down by his hand and dipping the rag in the water to get it wet. To clean it she gently dabbed the cloth on his Hand wiping off any blood that went down his arm or anywhere else. She out the rag back into the water and opened up the first aid for something to wrap his hand in.

Itsuki flinched a couple of times as Korina washed his cut, he usually didn't clean it as he just put something over it, and after a few weeks or months it was gone. He watched as Korina cleaned it, it seemed as she was experienced with what she was doing. It was slightly interesting to watch too as maybe he should do this next time he destroyed a coffee mug, after all he probably cut himself on one of the broken pieces, which were still laying on his desk. "I'm sorry for the trouble," Itsuki apologized as he already knew that trying to stop her now was far too late, and it seemed as she wished to do it. It was good to know someone cared enough to do it too, as he had been doing it himself the last couple of years.

"You don't need to apologize.." Korina answered as she started to tightly wrap his hand with some gauze she found on the first aid "my job here is to take care of you isn't it?" She was careful with wrapping his hand feeling the winces from before when she was cleaning it. She tied It off and stood up cleaning the area of the first aid and bowl "there, now we can have dinner" she nodded putting everything away "but I'm still wondering what was happening up there,my looked very anxious"

"Thank you Korina," Itsuki said as he moved around his hand a little to make sure the movement in his hand was still as agile as it was before, it hurt a bit more than it did earlier, as he was now acknowledging the wound was in his hand, but it still didn't hurt a lot. Instead of feeling he was given a pet, it now felt as he had been given a caretaker, something that wasn't bad as he had a bad habit of either skipping meals, or not sleeping for days. There was a reason why he was so thin after all. He began walking towards the kitchen, as he could already smell the delicious fish and smiled.

"You see I was struggling with this math equation for my new invention, so I began searching for the answer in several books at the same time. Accidentally I knocked my coffee mug over, and it broke into pieces on the floor. I tried to pick them up and I suppose I cut myself picking up the pieces," Itsuki explained to her and was still smiling as he began eating, as expected. Her cooking was really good.
