The Inn at the Edge of the World (OOC)

I got married like, a month ago, so it's all old hat now. But a combination of Honeymoons, multiple bouts of illlness, a bricked laptop, lookin' for work, and the ever present being a lazy asshole (Currently courtesy of the crystal meth that is Stardew Valley), has left multiple threads wanting, something I plan to rectify now.

Oh man, Stardew Valley is great. I'm all about that honey man. It's not as profitable as some of the crops I've pulled, but it makes me smile whenever I get fresh honey off the farm.

That and booze. SO much booze.

Once you get the greenhouse and start making Starfruit Wine, you're basically rolling in it. Each bottle goes for 2.4k monies, or 3.6k if you've got the Artisan profession in Farming.

Oof, very nice. I actually went with crops since that was the immediate money maker for me. Looks like I'll have to consider a retcon of my current game. :P

Well, Starfruit are a summer crop, but with the Greenhouse, you can make 'em all year long. Seeds are in Calico, and they're not too expensive.

I swear I will run a Stardew Valley RP and have it go all Lovecraft on you if this turns into a farming sim.

xD No worries Grey, I think we're safe from that.

Although Abram's goal is to start a new village somewhere. Farming is kind of integral to that.

@Silvertongued

Welp, tonight's my final night. I have to leave tomorrow morning so I will contact you all as soon as I am able. Don't expect to hear from me for at least a month.

Fair winds and following seas!

Actually, give me a day or so. I actually just realized there is a whole Google Doc worth of lore. I want to read through it before I decide on what I'd like to do here.

I have a question about Ferldain. I might be asking prematurely, sorry if I am; are there any predating (massive) military incidents involving them, and or the Iron Rose by extension? Has the Iron Rose ever achieved praise for any sort of military campaign? OR rather I guess a better question would be what spurred the creation of their house? Simply in defense of women's rights so to speak?

Last major military campaign involving the Ferldain would've been the Succession War, canonically. The Iron Rose were formed in the aftermath by the widow Marienne Von Tippen because there were basically no eligible men left and she was only twenty, and it took a while to catch on, so the official foundation date is a bit more recent. Last big thing they would've been involved with was a swarm of monsters bubbling up out of the Martyred Pass.

I should really add this to the book, somewhere.

I like it. Definitely seems interesting.

So, two questions. One, why or how is Catalya in the mercenary life now, and what would bring her to New Hope, a small town tightly controlled by the Inquisition?

Well, I believe Catalya would loosely follow the life of the nobility, and even make a name for herself. I want to push her somewhere dark to where she's sort of distrusting of people on a whole. Eventually, she finds the nonchalant attitude of "her" house regarding her Mothers death to be rather dull. Hearing about New Hope, and the work they do there she would probably even request to go. As she is scarred, and not very ladylike, Lord Ferldain would see a fortuitous arrangement. Catalya, who really isn't nobility would be gone, but also bear their house name. In which case, any honor she gains in New Hope would directly link back to his house. He would know Catalya lightly, and be aware that she's still, and likely will always be stricken with unrest over the events regarding her Mother's execution, which given her (Mother's) repertoire would likely proceed her arrival at New Hope.

In short, a wise play by a lord to garner power, and standing for his house. Not to mention, the hope that her actions within the mercenary encampment echoes to the other houses just how powerful the Iron Rose, and ultimately House Ferldain really is.

Not to mention getting a potentially dangerous encounter off his hands in case the King's men visited his hold again.

I can dig it.

The whole thing though is that the Inquisition has tight ties to House Delat, a "rival" to Ferldain in the grand scheme of the Game of Houses. That, coupled with the fact Catalya's a woman, would make them inherently suspicious of her. But if things work out, it could very well work in the favour of relations between the two Houses.

I understand, in that case I'll make sure to note that. So she's aware she's essentially going to be surrounding by less than friendly people. I would assume before she heads off Lord Ferldain would fill her in on such things. I would say Lord Ferldain is loosely fond of the girl, but sees her as more of an asset than actual family.

I hope so too! Its good to know that her story would mix in well. I'll finish it up and move along the character sheet.

Here's a question, because I have about six more years of history left to fill in for her. (I'm going to play her at twenty years old). What would my XP start out. What would you all suggest?
