For sorcerous workings changing the step would basically not be a normal artifact (N/A) so at least not available at character creation. In general, even if an artifact help with a sorcerous working it's mostly helping with the rolls or terminus. Changing a step down is definitely powerful.

I was thinking a Solar Dawn Caste, using Archery as the supernal skill.

Am strongly considering making a Changing Moon Lunar that's gonna delve into Lunar Warfare Charms, leading a group of archers. He/she will probably have little combat capability themselves, but will be leading his/her troops in battle.

It doesn't have to be epic, UCS seems to pick more like on a whim or like some of the writers described it, like falling in love suddenly. "This person caught my attention! you get an exaltation!"

Alright yeah, it should be interesting since the writers have mentioned that they couldn't put some charms in Sidereal during the manuscript stage, so there will be more sidereal charms.

This sounds like a lot of fun! And yes I was considering going the Necromancy route with this character.

Perfect . If you stick with the Lunar witch then you can have the Black Treatise for Necromancy and I can take the White for Sorcery. Although presumably we can trade at any time, and it could be a fun side storyline for each of us to initiate the other into our art.

Not too large a group. Probably Size 3, which is the minimum one can get with the Command Background

Question, I do not see the initial charms for Necromancy in the Lunar Main book, are they in the "Many Faced Strangers" book?

I don't see Necromancy in the Many Faced Strangers book, but I believe that you can just substitute the needed Necromancy Charm with the Sorcery one.

Because Lunars, Dragon-Blooded and Solars were published before we had rules for Necromancy, I think they just didn't write the Charms out, but they should be similar to their sorcerous counterparts.

Necromancy and Sorcery have the same requirements/ vice and verse as written in Abyssal. So for lunar for example, you need 4 mental charms to qualify.

You can indeed make custom artifacts. I think there are a few for BG but guess depends what you want to do.
