The wedding is over, and now the fleet readies itself to emerge into the Hydora system and most likely a hot battle. Alarms go off throughout the ship, warning everyone that the breakout into normal space is less than a half an hour away, and calling all crews to their battle stations and pilots to their fighters.

In the hangar bay, all traces of the party has been cleared away and replaced with a swarm of activity as pilots and deck crews make their last minute checks on the Veritechs. Cypher is in her traditional back seat of Shogun's Valkyrie, doing her part to link the squadron together electronically. As each of you climb into the cockpit of your mecha, you can already see data feeds from the Foxhound come up from Cypher's feeds. As Shogun slips into place in front of Cypher, she says, "You do your pilot shit, and leave the rest to me, baby. I have ordered the deck crews to load us up with two pods of mini-missiles and two pods of medium range to give us some long range punch, along with your sixty short rangers, and if I see a target of opportunity or an incoming missile, I'll launch off on it and save you the effort." She grins, obviously looking forward to the flight. "Lets rock these Invid bastards!"

Shogun allows himself a smile. Having a confident and qualified pilot sat behind him meant that he could now concentrate on the field of combat that he was most comfortable in: dogfighting. And he was sure there would be plenty of that. He went through his pre-flight checks, adjusting the rear-view mirrors around the periphery of his cockpit canopy and checking that the various thrusters were responding to the stick. Satisfied, he gently touched the sleeping face of his daughter as it appeared in the picture wedged beside his tactical HUD.

"I hear that, Cypher. Just try to stay objective and focussed. We got a lot riding on this day's fighting.", he responded on the internal comm, then switched to fighter command, "Hydra Two, Shogun and Cypher, all systems green and ready for launch."

Parino Zairine

She wasn't entirely sure how many days she and Hiro had but they showed up, hand in hand, ready for battle. She gave her husband a kiss before parting. "I'll be dancing out there, but I won't be too far away."

She climbed in her mecha and checked all systems. One by one they came up and she felt the coolness of battle enter her system. She watched, detached, as her husband climbed into his own ship. Husband, the word made her smile. She had no idea how it had come to pass but she wasn't going to complain.

"Straps secured ma'am."

She flipped on her com. "Thank you. Command, Smurfette, all systems green and ready for launch."

Hiro returns her kiss the way only a newlywed man can, then jogs over to his Valkerie. He'd requested the same mix of missiles as was loaded onto Shogun's Valkerie, assuring they could stay together in the upcoming fight. Strapping into the familiar cockpit he once again feels the sensation that he's not climbing inside a vehichle but rather donning armor or clothing. Something that moves with him as a whole. He kisses the holopendant Yoshi gave him at the wedding and tucks it into his flight suit.

"FlightCon, this is Hydra Three. All systems green, ready to launch." Now he snugs back into his seat and waits.

He hates waiting.

The engines thrum with power as the fleet barrels through foldspace. With a lurch, you feel the Foxhound emerge into normal space and the hangar bay doors open wide in preparation for launch. Cypher can be heard on the squadron's com line, humming to herself. "Oh lookie there. We have multiple targets, numbering in the thousands out there. It looks like there is a ongoing fight and we are late to the party. Deployment orders are coming down the line. Wait one." You can hear over the radio link the sounds of her hands dancing across the keyboard of her terminal. "Got it. All units deploy and maintain a defensive perimeter until the fighter wings are in the air, then we close in and engage the Invid, and hope the Robotech Masters get the hint that we are not here to mess with them. Hydra Two here. Ready for launch." "Roger, Hydra. Launch when ready."

Ghost's eyes flick over the cascading data streams coming in as he listens to FlightCon's instructions. He takes in everything he can, absorbing the flow of information rather than trying to take in specific details. He waits for the command to launch, hands and feet ready on the controls.

Now was their chance to hit the Invid hard and show those alien monsters what the REF was all about. He agrees with Cypher. Hopefully the Robotech Masters would take the hint, but he plans on staying frosty out there just in case they decide the newcomers are with the Invid.

As the fighter wings launch to provide a screen for the capitol ships, the heavy guns and long range missiles begin to track their targets, picking off Invid Clamshell troop carriers and large groups of Troopers with the area effect weapons. The Foxhound calls out target data, giving intercept vectors for the outer wave of fighters. "Hydra squadron, you have multiple targets inbound to your sector. Six Shock Troopers, six Armored Scouts, two Pincer Command units, and one Command Battloid. Engage engage engage, weapons hot. Go get 'em." Cypher designates targets on your HUD. "Copy that, Foxhound. Hydra has your targets up, range 300 and closing fast. Targets designated, engage at will."

Initiative rolls, please. Don't forget to add your bonuses in from your Valkyrie training and your characters.

Parino Zairine

The hostiles show up on her on screen dash and she locks onto the command battloid. She figured she could at least divert its attention as she was the fastest one. And it had been oh so long since she was able to just fly and engage the enemy. She didn't tell Hiro her plans as she didn't want to unduly worry him but she figured he'd figure it out sooner or later. Which, she was sure, would cause him to yell at her for making him worry. She grinned because no one could see her and engaged her thrusters.

Luke gets ready for launch "I am ready to go" he sees the enemies on his radar "For the future" he screams into the com. He engages at full speed.

3+4=7

The group of Valkyries and one Female Powered Armor (modified) accelerate away from the launch point, with the FPA taking point in short order.

23 - Smurfette

18 - Command Battloid

15 - Cypher

10 - Armored Scouts 1-6

7 - Wolf, Pincer Command units 1-2

3 - Shock Troopers 1-6

With all the enemy with lower rolls than Smurfette, you are free to engage now.

List will update as others add their rolls.

Parino Zairine

Before anyone could so much as move, Zairine was already out the doors. She exulted in the feel of battle and the seductive embrace of the deep space. She wasn't so much as grinning as smiling with a ferocity that would have made others less prone to violence back away almost immediately.

"Hello bugs, I'm back." She locked her sensors onto the closest one then locked onto its eye, waiting until she got close enough to do the most damage. She then fired a round of missile pods at it and quickly flew up and away to avoid getting hit by the after shock of its destruction.

I'm confused a bit. The Invid are not the color coded ones; that is the Robotech Master Bioroids. Right now, you are closing in on the Invid troops out here. Also, you do know that the Command Battloid of the Invid does not have the same weak point in the sensor eye that the other lower classes of Invid do. Finally, if you are using direct fire weapons on the Battloid, which ones do you use, the chest mounted cannons or the forearm mounted particle beams?

Launching with the rest of his squadron, Shogun sees for the first time the breathtaking forces arrayed before them. The Invid swarm, for no lesser collective noun was sufficient to describe their insectoid mannerisms, numbered in their thousands, hundreds of thousands, while the forces of the Robotech Masters, with squadrons of immense Zentraedi ships amongst them, were fighting with their world behind them. It looked like a noble resistance but, just as the first time they had encountered the war between the Robotech Masters' forces and the Invid, the Invid's weight of numbers was proving to be the key to this fight. It was inevitably the case, that Hydra's launch would trigger the attack of the Invid. The only ships not employing the Shadow technology, they must have shown up on the Invid's sensors like baby vomit on a black shirt.

The inevitable attack order comes in and he responds, "Command from Hydra Two, received. Engaging the enemy!"

(Die roll) + 3 (Training bonus) = 7

Ghost runs the throttles up and launches, the Valkerie kicking him into his seat regardless of the preparations he'd made. His grin is a savage one as he clears the Foxhound and his sensors add their own account of the numbers involved. The Foxhound calls out their first group of targets. Knowing the Command Battloid is the priority he carets it as he rockets out.

On the squad frequency: "Ghost to Shogun. Free-for-all or flights?"

Roll of 17, +1 init for character, +3 init for training bonus= 21 total

Also, training gives extra attacks at certain levels. Are those character levels or levels gained after taking training?

The latter, if you have a skill from level one it's the same level as you are, otherwise it's assumed the skills are level 1 when you purchase them and they level from one each time you level, for example Yoshi got MECT Cyclone at level 2, so now he gets the level 5 benefits for it.

"Ghost from Shogun, we got plenty of EW support so break formation for combat, but remember to watch your six.", he responded, as he saw Smurfette rushing away to engage the Invid Battloid. That was a reckless streak he'd really hoped she might rein in today, but it was not to be, "Cypher, flash Smurfette in Zeek and tell her to not get too bogged down with that Invid mecha and forget other threats."

Evangeline Crowley

The Valkyrie spins, rolling as Crowley storms in. The smile on her face as she eyes down the swarm. A proper challenge but in truth it was what she had been hoping for.

"Spooky inbound. Awaiting squadron orders and maintaining leading flank edge"

Her weapons were hot and the grease paint was in place. Both physical and psychological warfare in place.

Inish 6 + 4 + 3 = 13

23 - Smurfette

15 - Cypher

You forgot to add in the initiative bonus from the Valkyrie, giving you a 13, not a 10.

How many missiles are you firing? Also, you cannot target the eye with missiles; they are just not accurate enough. You can aim for the main body with those. Finally, are you targeting the Command Battloid, or something different?

Because we're the only squadron of Valkyries in the entire fleet...[media]

I LOVE THE SMELL OF PLASMA IN THE MORNING!!!

The only Valkyries on the Foxhound, not the whole fleet. The Arc Royal has 50 Valkyries out of a total of 350 Veritechs.

I haven't heard from ehmygirl about her missile salvo, so I'll just assume it was a six pack aimed at the Command Battloid. This way it won't hold us up from the rest of the battle.
The missiles from the Female Power Armor fly out, tracking on the lead Invid. As they close in, the Battloid raises up its main blaster and fires off a spray of plasma bolts at the swarm, hoping to knock them out of the air before they hit it. With a bright flash, the six short range missiles explode, one after another, long before they hit their target.

With the speed that you are closing in on each other, yes.
