The Hub

"I don't know anything." Ava was getting really sick of answering that question. "Actually, scratch that. I do know that not everyone here is from our world. Some of them, the spider, for example, are exactly who they seem to be." Ava watched as the twins answered Dimentio, and winced upon seeing the normally cheerful Rin break down crying. Just who does he think he is?! "And," she added, "I know that, whatever you may say about keeping things in check, everything was going fine until you got involved."

The Spider Queen stepped back, only for her rear to come in contact with a box. Her legs clicked and twitched as she growled in frustration. She had bested the best of the mages, this one would not be so much more different.

Chrysalis hissed, "Let me go, I already told you where I'm from," she said calmly but annoyance and boredom in her voice. Her numerous eyes looked about, eyeing the mermaid, "poison," was all she said, hoping it was enough to hint her.

The Spider Woman growled, she was getting angsty and didn't understand why some guy walked in here, did some magic to prove how great he was before being a dick head. Chrysalis's clicked her neck, and her legs begun spindling and twisting, web beginning to form.

Chrysalis was ready to fire a shot of her sticky web at anyone who tried to make a move at her. Her blackened eyes stared down the man who trapped her.

With a sigh Zackiel leaned back on the wall of the cube, tolerance for the clown slowly but surely withering away. He wondered how long it would be before he finally released everyone.... And he wondered if he would be able to hold himself back from obliterating him when he did. Breathing in an attempt to relax and make himself comfortable, he slid down to the base of the cube. His attention still on everyone's reactions to the current situation. The atmosphere had definitely gone to heck and back as the complaining clashed the sudden silence from the clown. Did Ava's words break his will to keep them at bay? Or did his conscience catch up with him? Either or it didn't change the fact that when this was all over Zackiel was going to tear him a new one. "If your done fooling around now i'm sure everyone here would like to get out!" He roared at the clown once more.

After responding Dementio with a 'You're Welcome' and a bow, Len turned back at Rin only to have her stare him in a rather confronting manner. He wondered how much of that she had understood, afraid she might pull him into a corner and demand a thorough explanation. Being the rational sibling he was sure he could cope with such a revelation, but her... How would his sister react to the fact that 'she' might not really be 'her'... He feared it would crush her spirit, which is why he had been keeping it all to himself.

Rin wanted to question him, she wanted to understand. But at the same time, she didn't. There was a reason she was the naive, easily distracted twin, it was because she denied all the bad things around her. If she started worrying about everything all the time like her brother, it was possible the world would lose its appeal. She was overly emotional, she knew so. Yet, it wasn't like she could help being so empathic about things. It was simply the way she was!

So, both twins stood there, observing the other, neither wanting to be the one to start a conversation. That is, until they got told they weren't going to be released still:

"Aww man." The girl protested, "I'm going to get BORED OUT OF MY MIND inside here!" She stomped her feet, almost throwing a tantrum.

"We can play the word game." Her brother suggested, relieved that she had gotten distracted from the issue.

The older twin rolled her eyes, "Fiiiine." She accepted half-heartedly. She was bad at this game, "I'll start it then!"

Len simply nodded at her, gesturing for them to sit down in the now slight bigger box. Side by side, both of the siblings sat down and Rin excitedly started the game:

"Candy!" She let out in high pitch. "Yellow" Len replied in a split second. "Uhh... Wall?" She was already falling behind. "Lounge" He replied easily again. "E...e..." She couldn't find a word, "E... Oh! Elephant!" "Trousers" "...Swimming?" Rin looked in panic about the fact the words were not coming to her already.

Len laughed softly, "That's not how it works... You can't use verbs, only nouns!". "Uhh... Samantha?" His sister desperately tried again. The boy just shook his head, "Names also aren't allowed.". "Then, what am I supposed to do?!" She spat back, a little frustrated. "Play the game right." He simply replied.

As Rin ground her mind's cogs looking for a word, Len kept paying attention to the commotion going outside. Ava had spoken for everyone when she exposed that Dimentio was the one disturbing them. The younger twin would have liked to say a couple words himself, but right now, keeping his sibling distracted would be for the best. He wanted this to be over quickly, though. It wasn't like Rin would play along for long, she was bound to get bored soon...

"Ugh, I feel stupid... How could I forget something as easy as a sock?" The girl complained in the background, bringing his attention back to the game. "Is that your word?" "Yes?" "Okay then, kite." He replied effortlessly. "You make this game seem so easy!" Rin protested. "You're just too dumb for it." He teased with a soft laugh.

His sister crossed her arms in a pout, giving Len an unsatisfied expression before stopping to think about the next word. That's when the box disappeared, dematerializing itself in the same way as it had come to be. Rin made an 'oof' sound as she fell back to the real floor, even though the boxes had been just a couple inches up.

"We're free! We're free! Thank god, we're free..." She had already gotten up, dashing all around the place enjoying having her freedom again.

Len got back up too but stayed in the same spot. He pondered about Dimentio's last sentence and something clicked into place. Suddenly, he felt like a lab rat:

"Are you kidding me? That whole thing was some kind of twisted experiment?!" He let out in both disbelief and irritation, "Did it ever occur to you asking us? I'm sure we would have helped you!"

Meanwhile, In the background Rin had started kissing the floor, saying how good it was to be back on it, and how good it felt to not have to play the annoying word game anymore...

"Shut! up!" Ava was somewhat surprised at how angry she was. She was annoyed often, but rarely truly furious. Dimentio's casual disregard for anyone else in the room, however, made her see red. "You don't get to just toy with people! And if you think that we'll just let you do whatever you want, you're sorely mistaken!" Patience. That was not what Ava wanted to hear. Or think. Whatever. What, you think we should just let it go?! Ava was vaguely aware of how petulant she sounded, but she was beyond caring. Not at all. We do not forget. But we should bide our time. Without taking her eyes off Dimentio, she began to drift towards the doors. She was just about done putting up with this.

"Oh, when I get over there, I'm going to kill you." Avalon growled this at William. "You think you can just do whatever you want, to whoever you want? I'll show you. I don't know what those three are," she gestured at Ava and the twins,       "But you, you're human. And humans are primarily water. And guess what, I can move water!" She had begun inching herself across the floor towards William, but at this declaration, she stopped moving and held her hand out in front of her. Her face turned red, and he was shifted to the side by a foot. Ashamed at her lack of power out of the water, she uttered, "Uh, I guess it doesn't work very well out of the water. But you'll see. I'll get you, just not right now..."

The cubes were gone. Finally all the restrictions bounding Zackiel and his possible friends were no more. It was time.... "Get ready for free front row seats to my magic show everyone..." His eyes began glowing as he made his way towards the clown. "No holds barred..." Purple sparkles all varying from small to medium diffused around his body as he stopped before the him. Zackiel rose his left hand over his right shoulder, and with a swift motion he beckoned the foolish clown's face, a back handed bitch slap filled with the energy of a star. Not showing our power our we? Looks like this place has done a lot more than isolate us, it brought our faults to the surface. Zackiel questioned the voices in his mind. What were they talking about? Did his power weaken from being transported somehow? Or.... was it something else... Either way... it felt like... something was missing.... It's our power. Our form. Our true identity. Ignoring what the voice said that time he aimed his right palm, concentrating on the very ground they stood on as sparkles continue to envelope his body, most covering his palm. Our senses has dulled every since you took on the human appearance Zackiel. We haven't been in our original state since.... since we first met keys and became a chosen-one. And thanks to that our power has weakened significantly. So much in fact, you're currently unable to move anything.

Zackiel strained with all of his might to shift the molecules of the ground to tear the clown apart but, found himself unable to do so. "What....?" The sparkles disappeared as he looked over himself. Questions of what was happening to himself flowing through from the deepest declination of his mind. To put it bluntly, if we don't leave this blank area and at least come in contact with the natural environment. We'll be stuck in this form and vulnerable state forever. WHAT?!?!? Yup! Our best chance at becoming whole again starts with us recharging our non-existent batteries. I... don't get it... Back on earth i could use my power fine! We-Were broken. Through the years we've buried parts of ourselves, becoming more human everyday. And basically it's finally caught up. It's gotten so bad that we're three separate entities now. Of course you can still draw cosmic energy from the planet and use it to defend yourself but... that's about it. So we gotta go on some sorta journey of self discovery in order to return to how we were before? Not exactly as we were. But maybe even better! Our best bet is to get out of here first though. What about that stupid clown... Leave him to us...

After the brain counsel, Zackiel was back and enlightened of his current situation. "Hey Ava!!! Mind if i join you on the escape route?! I'm also in a hurry!" Called out to her before turning his attention on the clown. "But first..." He whistled as the 2 masked spirits from before appeared alongside him. "I got some unfinished business."

"Huh." Dimentio tripled, turning invisible and making four separate 2d boxes around Zachil. Another appeared on the top. He was trapped again. "Six 2-dimentional squares equal a cube." he said.

Ava now found herself faced with a dilemma. She wanted nothing more than to leave. On the other hand, she felt bad about leaving purple-hair (still hadn't caught his name) with this psychopathic clown. On the third hand, she didn't know if there was anything she could do about it, and trying to do anything might just get her trapped as well. Hm. 2-dimensional squares, huh? In the game, you could get out of the squares through a third dimension. Could we do the same thing with higher dimensions? Hypergeometry isn't our strong suit, but we certainly could in theory. What do I need to do? Just focus, I'll guide you.

Ava pictured the room she was standing in, visualizing it as a three-dimensional space. Not good enough. We're thinking in 3D, but still only seeing in 2D. We don't have eyes, remember? The only reason we're seeing like a human is because you're still thinking like one. Forget about that. Right. If she was going to exist in four dimensions, she should be able to see all sides of everything in the room simultaneously. Just thinking about it made her head hurt, but it dawned on her that was just her human perception talking, trying to hide from anything that might shatter it's fragile worldview. Pathetic, really. The pain was a good sign, she realized; it meant she was on the verge of understanding. Ava fought through it and allowed the knowledge to wash over her.

Ava didn't know how to describe what happened next. She could still see the room, but it was like looking in from outside. Not outside the blank area; she felt that she was still trapped in the void of which the room was one facet. But it was, to use a three-dimensional analogy, as if she had lifted off of a piece of paper, and could now look down on the sheet that had once been her whole world. Don't look around too much. There are things out here your mind isn't prepared to handle. You've lifted your blindfold a crack, and allowed a sliver of light through. But your mind will slam it back down to protect itself in a moment. Be quick. Ava turned her attention back to the contents of the room. Just like lifting a pencil up and placing it down on the other side of the line, she found she could easily move to be "above" the inside of the box where purple-hair was trapped. Heeding the King's warning, she quickly slipped back "inside" the three-dimensional reality.

As soon as Ava had done so, she was hit by a splitting headache. Ugh, glad I didn't stay out there any longer. Pretty sure I could have actually fried my brain like that. Thinking about it, Ava realized she couldn't actually recall exactly how she'd done what she had. She knew she'd understood it just a moment ago, but now, it was gone. She resolved to consider it later, when her head didn't feel like it had been stuffed down a tube much too small for it. She wasn't at all sure that she could repeat a trick like that anytime soon, but she nonetheless turned to purple-hair and said "Do you want to get out of here?"

(OOC note: from an outsider's perspective, Ava just disappeared for a few seconds, then reappeared in Zackiel's box.)

At Dimentio's reply, Len chocked. He couldn't believe someone could neglect other's feelings like this. The apparent apathy on the Jester's voice only caused his irritation to escalate and He had to bite his lip to avoid saying something that might make him regret:

"Yeah. With all the trust you're pouring onto us, of course it wouldn't have worked.", the boy kept the thought to himself, though still averting his gaze from the persecutor.

Ava stepped in, and again, seemed to relay thoughts very similar to his. The younger twin watched with admiration as the cloaked girl did exactly what, He, himself, did not have the strength to accomplish. Huh, perhaps they would get along well, that is, if the boy ever had the courage to engage in a conversation with her... Following the girl's cue, Len also turned around in motion to the door:

"Rin, let's go. Staying here seems utterly pointless.", He called with a serious, almost commanding tone.

The older twin had made all types of funny comments about being free again, and only stopped when she heard Ava shout. Surprised, the girl had jerked her head towards the commotion and watched everything filled with distress. She didn't want anyone to fight! Okay, what the flying clown had did was NOT COOL and had made a lot of them upset... Including Her. But, what's done is done, right? They just had to not do it again and all would be fine! Shouting never fixed anything...

And then Len called her. Oh, no... He was also mad. Is no one going to give Dimentio a second chance??

"B-but Len! What about forgiveness?! Are we just going to leave??", She raised her voice in protest.

The brother did not respond, or at least, He didn't have the time to. Not long after Rin had thrown him those words, death threats started being made. The girl widened her eyes in alarm. "No..." She muttered heartbroken. This was not the right way to deal with this! Her heart started beating fast as the purple haired person seemed to pour gasoline in the fire, getting prepared for a combat. Then Dimentio didn't let the threat go so easily and once again trapped the person inside a cube. This is chaos, just chaos!

Rin couldn't bear watching it anymore:

"EVERYBODY STOP!!!!"

She rushed towards the mad clown and promptly stood in front of him, arms open, blocking his field of vision:

"Can we all calm down please?!", She shouted loud and clear for everyone to hear, "I don't want more fighting, please. Can't we all just, get along?!"

Then she lowered her voice, the frustrated and distressed expression from before softened, into one of forgiveness and friendship:

"Mr. Dimentio, will you please let my friend go? I'm not mad at you... I forgive you... So please, can you forgive them too? For me?", She extended her right hand at him, "Won't you be our friend too?", the girl asked with a smile.

"This trick again? Really?" "I'm afraid that won't work this time clown." "You've over played your hand!~" The masked spirits appeared alongside the cubes and both began charging rays of cosmic energy, this was going to be the clown's last parade. Somehow Ava found herself inside of Zackiel's cube prison and offered him a way out, and right after those events, a certain happy-go-lucky twin found herself in the center of it in an attempt to cease the fighting. Rin's shout was more than enough to catch the attention of everyone in the room. But alas, that wasn't the only thing the young vocaloid girl was going to catch, as she backed a pair of masked spirits wielding highly-destructive, and concentrated energy rays. With a clap of his hands Zackiel and Ava took up the spaces where the spirits were, both standing on opposite ends of the cube. With a brisk stroll he appeared behind Rin, petting her head as assurance that he was finished and that she needn't any longer put herself in danger. "You're quite the little lady aren't ya, sending mixed messages like that. Honestly i still don't know if what you pulled there just now was bravery or naivety. But.... for now i'll settle for a little bit'ah both. My name's Zackiel. And it would be an honor, to be your friend." He gave her his widest grin. The stronger the light. The stronger the shadow. That was a little close dontcha think? Well! Least you stopped it before it happened. Just so you know, THAT. Is who we were. But it's not who we have to become. Cheers!!!

Zackiel retreated back to Ava's location. "Sooooo, which door are we heading through bud?" He asked blithely. "Also... Since when could you teleport!?"

Len had watched the entire thing. Rin's question to him had made him stop and rethink his own actions. She was absolutely right. He had let his anger cloud his judgement and thus had turned his back on the jester, instead of trying and giving him a second chance. However, he reacted too late and soon his sibling had gone and thrust herself in the middle of danger. He tensed when She addressed Dimentio, worried that her sweet gesture could have been replied to with violence. The worst thing that could have happened was them pushing his sister aside, getting her hurt. He was relieved that had not occurred, Rin seemed to have calmed the beast, somehow.

But, it was too soon to be relieved.

Beside the box behind her, two things that looked like masks were floating, and they also seemed to be charging some kind of energy blast? Oh My God! And Rin was standing right there in the middle! She'd get hit!!!! He panicked, and looked to the sides. Maybe something, maybe someone would take her from there! That's when he stopped. No. This was not the time to become idle! It was time to rush out there and help her!

With a new found determination, Len rushed towards his sister. The events unfolded before him with the purple haired guy and Ava (How did she get in there?) suddenly changing places with the blasters that would have with certainty, pulverized his sibling. He had stopped to watch, now half way to Rin's location, dumbfounded by what had just happened but very grateful that she was still safe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Rin's smile faltered. Words were Len's thing not hers, so she had gone silent thinking on what to say to reassure William. Soon, a friendly hand pat her head, causing her to turn towards the person behind it. It was the purple haired guy and what a relief, he looked fine!

"Thanks." The girl replied at his compliment, "I just wanted us to get along and have fun again..." "Zackiel huh, I like your name mister! It sounds pretty!!"

She was about to re-introduce herself or something like that, but Len's voice cut through the air:

"RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!" "oof!", Her brother had attacked her with a hug, "Are you harmed? Are you scared?", He started interrogating, "Just, what WERE you THINKING?! You could have died! I almost saw you die! Can you imagine how WORRIED I WAS?!" "L-Len...you're crushing me...", she replied, making the youngest twin release her with an 'oh, sorry', before he continued, "But still. Why would you DO THAT?"

"I'm sorry, but someone had to stop them..." She explained herself, "Actually... I am not done yet. I still have one thing to do."

Having said that, the older twin turned her back at the other. She knew somewhere, in the emptiness before her lied the clown. Or several of them:

"William, I'm sorry some of us attempted to attack you, I really am. But, they do have a right to be angry... It's like, uhh, It's like we were all having fun in the sand tank, and then a big meanie grabbed us out and put us in the disobedience corner without a reason!... And then uhhh...", Rin stumbled with her words, but Len soon stepped in to assist her, "She means you broke our trust. Everyone was getting along until you disrupted it and it wasn't pleasant. But if Rin, the one you somehow managed to made cry, is willing to forgive you, then I don't see any reason to not do so too...", He looked down to his sister, "We should all calm down and apologise, right?" "Right!", She replied cheerfully before running, stopping beside her new friend, "Zackiel will promise to not attack you again, okay? We just want to chat... No one should be threatening and yelling at no one..."

"I just want to be your friend, William. Please, come out and talk to us too..."

The Spider Woman watched with a flat face, no enjoyment even remarkably present. "Hmph...pathetic, golden girl I shall join you," Chrysalis's legs left the box as they scuttled forward, her body shifting as she then grabbed the web, she wrapped it round her shoulders like a coat or protective warmer and sighed. She'd have to call for some helpers soon...

With a roll of her eyes and a hiss in her throat, she turned to the mermaid. "Want me to carry you, your poison won't affect me, I am poison," Chrysalis said with an outstretched hand as she leant down on her front two legs.

"I'm finding myself getting rather bored,"  Chrysalis made a face, hoping this mermaid would agree.

@King in Yellow @Scattered Ambitions

Ava, still highly disoriented from her fourth-dimentional trip, was very confused to find herself outside the box again. It was only by mentally replaying the last minute or so that she realized that she and purple-hair had switched places with the skull-things he'd summoned. That was fortunate. She could still hardly think through her headache, and it would have been embarrassing if the only thing she'd accomplished was to get herself trapped as well. Ava silently watched through the next few events, not feeling up to talking yet. Purple-hair seemed to be consoling Rin, and she was relieved to finally hear his name. Zackiel then walked back to her, and asked which door she wanted to take. Ava hadn't considered that. She made a "just a second" gesture, seeing something interesting happen across the room.

It appeared that Rin was trying to make friends with... William, he'd called himself. William seemed apathetic. Ava did agree that starting a fight when none of them knew anything about their situation was a bad idea. On the other hand, she wasn't a trusting person, and didn't plan on being best friends with someone who had practically attacked them. Still, she could be perfectly cordial without letting her guard down.

Chrysalis also offered to join them, and Ava supposed she should consider Zackiel's questions. She turned to the doors. Color was really the only thing to go on. And the only really unusual one in terms of color was the dark violet one with black stars. Like the stars over Carcosa... she thought, and had a strange sense that she remembered them. Is it the King's memory I'm seeing? That's probably not good... "I think we should go through that one," she said, pointing to the black-starred door. "Oh, and I didn't teleport. I... I think I..." Her headache, which had gotten slightly better, came back in full force. "It hurts to think about it."

"No, I can get anywhere I want to go just fine." Avalon did not want the help, but she did realize that she was being quite indignant. She scooted her way across the floor towards the doors but did not manage to get very far. "Oh, alright. I suppose I'm not going to get very far on my own, so, if I must, I accept. And I appreciate the gesture, don't get me wrong." She looked at the doors. There were three open and colorful, with the rest being as bland as the rest of the room, and with locks and chains she doubted even the full extent of Poseidon's army could not get through. One of the open doors was red. The next was purple. The last, the one she found most attractive, was a dark violet speckled with white, shining stars. "I agree, that one looks the best."

She had expected William to react a little more, but nonetheless Rin was glad he had showed himself back again:

"Well, the box worked on me and Lenny!" She commented, attempting to cheer him up a bit, "If that helps..."

Len held his forehead with a soft laugh. It was so like his sister to say something that might actually expose them later on. She was a silly girl, but her silliness is what made her so lovable too. Life wouldn't be as fun if she wasn't around to make him laugh with her adorable shenanigans... With a satisfied sight, he smiled, glad that everything seemed to have ended well and the group was getting along again. Then he decided to join Rin, beside their new friends.

The girl was happy to see them all either join her or move on and stop fighting:

"Thank you Chrysie!!" She replied to the woman's vote of faith.

Ava and the mermaid were concentrated in something else. Rin looked around and for the first time realized the presence of the doors:

"WOA! These were here the entire time?!" The older twin put her hands on her face in a surprised and excited expression, "They're so cool!!"

"Ehh?!" Len let out, "You hadn't seem those yet?" "Nope!" "I shouldn't be surprised when you're such an airhead..." "Hey! I'm not an airhead! It's just uhh... Is just that Len is a such an huge nerd, that he has to observe everything all the time..." The girl retorted, " 'Look at me, I'm Len and I'm too scared of the world so, I need to know what's going to happen all the time. But, I pretend I'm cool by saying difficult words so that no one must know!' ", She made her best Len impression.

"Oh, is that so?" He replied, crossing his arms, " 'Look at me, I'm Rin and I can barely say words other than 'pretty', 'cool' or 'awesome'! I'm hot-headed, Impulsive, Childish, Naive and my young brother Len has to save me from trouble constantly because, I simply don't know when to stop before I get hurt.' 'I almost got obliterated by an energy blast earlier!' "

Rin stopped with an offended expression of 'Oh no, you didn't' and opened her mouth to protest. That's when William teleported behind Zackiel and the twins, taking them by surprise:

"Ahhhh!" Both jumped startled. "I'll never get used to people teleporting..." Len muttered to himself, while Rin seemed to have forgotten the discussion from before and turned around, "William, hey! Glad to see you join us. Let me introduce you everyone~"

The girl tried reaching for his left hand. First, she had just raised her right arm high but could not reach. Then, she tried standing on the tip of her toes and it still did not work. Stubborn the way she was, Rin flexed her legs and jumped with all her might, finally reaching his hand. It was like the older twin was holding a clown shaped balloon. Dragging William around a bit, she proceed to point and introduce the members of their little circle:

"The cloaked person is Ava. The spider lady there is Chrysalis, but I nicknamed her Chrysie. Here's Zackiel, I think I'll call him Zacky... Oh! And I'm Rin and this is Len, my brother!" Len nodded in respect but as always, remained silent, "And there's the mermaid lady too, but I don't know her name..."

She released William's hand to put both hands around her face and called out:

"HEY MERMAID LADY!! WHAT'S YOU NAME?!"
