Same here, although it is a common theme in my family. We come from a long line of alcoholics and child abusers, my Grandmother's husband was extremely abusive and threw my Grandfather across a room one day, my Grandfather was hospitalized often due to the injuries he suffered and the law was none the wiser..not to say that spanking your children is the same as breaking their jaw, it's not. I remember cursing out one of my family members for hitting his disabled kid with a shoe before hitting him right the fuck back, he was so angry and I'm usually not disrespectful but hitting a kid over something they have no control over? I'll be damned if I allow you to do that in my presence. My mother has only spanked me three times within my lifetime but she stopped as soon as she read up on a study that claims that children who are spanked are more likely to physically abuse their kids. To me, you are an adult..you are not a child, don't fucking hit your kid with a belt if you can't take the goddamned blows yourself. You claiming that's love? It's not love, it's you getting frustrated and taking your anger out on someone younger than yourself. Then you wonder why your kid fucking despises you afterwards, I would never take to my child with a belt when there are so many different ways to teach them a lesson. It would be the day that anyone laid a finger on my kid, I'd fuck them up to be honest.
