The Homicide Devision

The New Boy Wonder
Lucas packing up his duffle. He and daddy were heading someplace new. A temporary safe house till they could cross the border and get back home. Their real home. The nice two story farmhouse out in Missouri. They had to get back. They needed to avoid detection from the police. They were staying up here for about a week but that wouldn't work anymore. They'd killed and disposed of the people who lived her when they arrived. He'd helped daddy kill three people (two women and a male) on their spree in the city so far. Daddy was cleaning up and disposing of any evidence they were ever here. Bleaching the carpets and other surfaces to remove fibers and other chemicals they may have left behind, wiping up everywhere they may have touched to remove fingerprints. Lucas packed his wolf plushie last. He may physically be 12 now but mentally he was still mentally working on about an 4th grade level. Lucas followed his father. They had a three more targets in the city to wipe out. Heads of the mob but they both knew that id you wanted to end a snake you had to cut off it's head which involved killing the underlings to find out where the head honchoes would be. Lucas wandered out of the room and walked over to Michael, his daddy. "Daddy?" Lucas asked,"I ready to go now."

That same morning across the city, Michelle woke up to the sound of her alarm clock and slammed it off. She groaned as she climbed out of bed. Work...she had a crazy caseload right now. Just as she climbed out of bed her phone buzzed. She looked down at the caller ID. She hadn't even gotten a shower, been dressed, or brushed her teeth before duty called. She answered the phone. It was her boss, the sergeant. She took down an address of a crime scene and told him she's be their in a half hour. The woman took only about 8 minutes in the shower before she dried off and got dressed. She dried her hair and threw on a pair of jeans, a red tank top, her leather jacket, and a pair of brown combat boots. She brushed her teeth and put on her make up. She walked back into her bedroom and went to the safe in her closet. She opened it and pulled out her gun and badge. She put her badge around her neck by it's silver chain and locked her holster onto her belt. Michelle put her hair up and headed to her car. She arrived at the scene. Some banquet hall. Five people were dead. A combination of gun and stab wounds. Michelle got out of her car and headed inside seeing her partner kneeling behind some yellow crime scene tape. She went over to her partner. "What do we got?" She asked.

Michael looked over at his son, Lucas. He smiled and ruffled his dark hair, kissing the boy's head. "Alright, just give me a second, bud." He said, finishing packing up his various hunting knives and torture items. Not only did Michael enjoy killing, but torturing as well. He didn't this time, as he didn't have much time to spare. But he'd gotten them out anyway to strike fear into the hearts of his victims. He zipped his mountaineering backpack up and slung it on his shoulder. He grabbed Lucas's duffel as well.

He rested a large, calloused, and scarred hand in Lucas's shoulder, and steered him in the direction of the door, heading for their rusty, beat-up, and reliable old '86 GMC pickup. He slung his and Lucas's bags in the backseat, and lifted his boy into the passenger side.

Eliza looked up at Michelle. She refrained from thinking of her as her partner, because she didn't need one. She was merely an ornament to her, someone to bounce ideas off of and never take her advice. But she was there nonetheless, and she had to cope with her.

And so Eliza said swiftly, "Five casualties. Both gunshot and stab wounds to each victim, an average of at least seven stab wounds on each and three shots. Cause of death is either one, and varies on the victim.

Three male, two female. Youngest at sixteen, oldest at mid-forties. All but the old guy had identification. Looks like a family. Mom and dad were killed first by the looks of it. The wounds were precise. The killer enjoyed them.

The kids..not so much. Wounds are ragged, hasty, and there is more gunshots, so they would die faster, I presume." She sighed, and looked up, flicking her dark blonde hair from her face, deep forest eyes focusing on Michelle's face.

Lucas looked up at his daddy and let the man take his bag. He watched the man pack up their tools and he was intrigued by them. He was learning how to kill. He had a little sadist growing inside him but that was only because he wanted to please daddy. He had been the one who had killed the three kids. Their wounds were ragged because he was still learning and the gunshots where daddy's he didn't want Lucas becoming too bloodthirsty too quickly now. Lucas followed his father out of the house and into the truck. He let daddy put him in his seat and buckle him in. "Are we gonna go for a ride?" Lucas asked.

Michelle knelt under the crime scene tape and next to Eliza. She smirked and looked at the carnage as she listened to the other blond woman speak. "Ok...so...how do we know there's not two killers? Ragged knife wounds could mean a more inexperienced killer. And the parents could have been taken out by a pro. Do we have a possible motives or just 5 stiffs?" Michelle asked.

"We're going home." Michael said with a smile as he started the car and backed out of the drive. He drove west from the halfway house, and toward a fast-food establishment just off the main road. He looked at Lucas as hr waited for the car in front of him in the drivethru. "What do you want to eat, Luke?" He asked with a fatherly smile.

"I haven't looked too much into motives yet. I plan on it, but I only got the case today. I've got everyone but dad's identification on file. Shouldn't be too hard..." Eliza sighed and didn't exactly listen to Michelle's idea of the pro and inexperienced killer, because it didn't make much sense to her. Why kill if you're going to bring a rookie with you? Might as well turn yourself in if you were going to do that.

Lucas smiled at Michael. He watched out the window as daddy drove. His father was listening to some sort or talk radio or sports game. Lucas wasn't really listening. Then the two of them drove through the drive through and Lucas looked at his daddy and answered. "Can I has some chicken nuggets and a Sprite?" The boy asked.

"You're right, we can figure out a motive later," Michelle said. She pulled out her iPhone and started to take pictures of the scene.

"Sure can, champ." Michael grinned, and pulled up, ordering,

"Can I get a chicken nuggets kids' meal with a sprite and a double ranch burger with fries and an iced tea?"

He nodded as the cashier told him his total in a bored tone, and pulled forward. He paid with a credit card and got the food before thanking the cashier and driving to the parking lot.

Eliza sighed and stiod up straight, adjusting the silver pistol in her holster. She flicked back her hair and sighed.

Lucas giggled happily as daddy ordered and got their food. He smiled at the older man and rested his head on Michael's shoulder. "I love you daddy," Lucas said as Michael got the food. The boy sat up and took the food placing it on his lap as they entered the parking lot. Lucas grinned up at Michael as he parked already holding his father's burger to give to him.

Michelle squinted and looked over at Eliza. "You don't seem very happy," She said as she touched the screen and continued to take pictures of the screen. She pointed her phone at Eliza and took a picture of her. "Say cheese," she said smirking trying to lighten the mood.

Michael smiled, kissing Lucas's forehead. "Aren't you a helpful boy?" He asked, taking the burger from his son.

Eliza shoved away the iPhone. "Get that goddamn thing out of my face, rookie." She growled.

Lucas giggled a bit as he was kissed on the forehead. That led to a grin when he was complimented. "Thank you daddy," Lucas said as he pulled the little container of chicken nuggets from the bag. The boy opened the lid and started to eat his food.

Michele held up his hands telling Eliza not to shook. "Hey now," she said,"No need to get so defensive. You looked pissed and my attempt to make you less pissed backfired. Please don't shoot the messenger."

Michael unwrapped his burger and took an enormous bite from it, ranch spilling down his lower lip and his chin. He wiped away his mess and smiled over at Lucas, at his pride and joy. He watched him eat with a mindful eye.

Eliza rolled her eyes and simply stalked off, gaze alight with irritation. 'Don't shoot the messenger my ass." She muttered under her breath and walked to the opposite side of the crime scene to get away from Michelle.

Lucas giggled and smiled. He watched daddy eat and he chuckled a bit as the ranch dribbled onto his chin. The man soon wiped it up and smiled at his son. Lucas blushed and went back to eating his chicken nuggets. The boy yawned a bit and took a sip of his sprite. He looked up from his foot a minute and asked his daddy,"Are we gonna be home soon?"

Michael smiled over at Lucas, and sighed. "Soon, my boy. Just go to sleep and we'll be there when you wake up." He promised, taking Lucas's trash and his own after finishing his meal, throwing it away in the dumpster.
