Yeah but communal bathrooms help save both space and construction costs for a major structure like this one and they also help build a community spirit. In a more meta sense too, since it's another larger communal location for characters to do things at.

Yep. Also easier to form cliques and factions even within the same group. Don't know if it's your style or aim with Charlotte, but that seems like something she would get up to from what I've read.

I feel like Charlotte and Galynthia could get along well enough simply because a) Galy is the innocent of innocents and would adore Charlotte if Char chose to be nice to her b) Char is pretty c) Galy is pretty. But character dev would eventually lead to Galy beginning to realize Char is not such a great person.
