The Heart of a Dragon is Not so Different (Private)

Benjammin

Helllllllll Yeah
Oliver Cradbury sat alone on a bench one blustery autumn afternoon. The echo of fire from his belly of lava as a dragon served its purpose I'm keeping the young man warm, although he still dressed for the weather in a black cardigan over a striped gray and black sweater, accompanied by a dark gray scarf wrapped around his throat. He sniffled, a touch of steam rising from his nose, most easily explained by the cold.

Oliver was studying for his mid-term finals, and it was stressful. His whole life was stressful, he thought. He didn't know his real parents, and was passed from foster home to foster home until he was 18. The ability to fly, he thought, is probably what kept him the most sane. After that, it was hard work at both keeping his secret a secret, and keeping up with his education. Neither of which came naturally to him.

He sipped gently on his coffee from some small local shop, and thought about the leftover steak he bought on sale that was sitting in his fridge. His mouth all but watered at the thought of that cut of meat. He would have to remember to cook it...

Hikaru left his home, adjusting his own red scarf. It was soft and woolly with a few stripes on it. Hikaru also wore a white T shirt that was covered by a brown coat, his outfit completed by a pair of black jeans. As he stepped outside, he looked around. It was a little chilly out. Despite the cooler weather, Hikaru seemed happy. He had a textbook draped under one arm, as well as a sketchbook . He looked around, observing all the colors of the trees around him. It was because of the trees, that fall was Hikaru's favorite season. All the reds,oranges, yellows and pinks on the leaves were beautiful to him, and so he often would come outside to do his schoolwork and draw. Hikaru walked around more. He soon walked into a park. There weren't so many people around, but that was the way he liked it. He leaned against a tree, and ended up sliding down its back and sitting down, leaning back against the tree. He set down the textbook, and opened up his sketchbook to a blank page. He looked around for something to draw. That was when he noticed Oliver, sitting on the bench. He took his headphones out of his pocket and put them in his ears, before beginning to draw him. @Benjammin

Oliver snapped out of his daydream when he felt eyes on him. His nostrils flared lightly out of instinct, but he relaxed when he found the "intruder." It was a classmate from his school, who seemed nice enough. And he was just doing homework. Or...

No, he was drawing Oliver. He quickly looked away, shifting unsurely. He didn't mind, not really, but now he felt as if he should hold a pose. Straightening his back, he continued to study.

Some time passed, and Oliver stood up and stretched. He quickly gathered his things in a rush to catch up with Hikaru. "Say, are you drawing me? Can I see?" He asked curiously, fluttering lightly in front of Hikaru.

@Benjammin

Hikaru continued to draw for a little while, singing a tune in a quiet tone as he listened to his music. The brown haired boy looked down to his sketchbook and added a few more details to his drawing. When he looked back up to his reference, he realized that the person he was drawing noticed him. Hikaru blinked and stopped singing before quickly looking away, hoping that Oliver wouldn't notice. He peeked over at him after a moment, and made a little sigh of relief when Oliver had looked away. He hesitantly began drawing him again. He did this in peace for a few more minutes, before he noticed Oliver get up. Was he leaving? He kept watching, hoping he would stay so he could draw him. Wait what? It took him a second, but he then realized that his classmate was coming over. He tensed slightly and quickly closed the sketchbook, assuming that Oliver was going to come over being upset or annoyed for Hikaru watching him while he drew. He took his headphones out of his ears, and looked up to him. Hikaru paused when he heard the boy's words. He chewed his lip and rubbed the back of his neck, looking down to his lap. "I-Im sorry for being weird and drawing you without permission...but....if...you really want to see then...I guess its ok.." he said, seeming a little embarrassed for being caught.

"It's okay, I think it's cool," Oliver grinned, showing his teeth vastly. He inched closer to see the work, lightly grabbing the sketchbook to inspect it. He raised his eyebrows, admonished.

"Hey, it looks just like me!" Oliver laughed, amazed by the image in front of him. "You'll have to draw me a copy sometime," he said wistfully, somewhat shyly in case he was crossing a line. "Thanks for showing me," he finally added gratefully.

"ok..." he mumbled, hesitantly handing it over. "oh um... ok... I'll give you a copy of it tomorrow in class" He said as he stood up. He seemed a bit more confident after Oliver said he liked his art. He smiled to him. "You're welcome....Oliver...right?" he asked, unsure of the boys name.
