The Great Shadow War

@LuttyNetto

@Rayischo

@Painted Puzzle

I only need one more person minimum to join! it would be a great help if you're up to it, to ask some of your friends if they are interested. i will ask some more people myself, but if you could help out i need at least one more person to enrool before i start this bad boy up.

thank you for your participation, and i'm glad at how quickly all of you jumped at the chance to RP.

I am super interested in joining, but I'd like to know a little bit more about the setting before I can make a character. If you could elaborate on the setting information and technology level, that would be grand.

@Sage Leaf

Ostensibly it is about fighting the Dark Eye in a universe almost one thousand times older than our own, and some people have "dark matter" powers, but other than that I've got no idea.

Also, I just realized Dark Matter powers are going to be super visually disappointing, seeing as you won't be able to see any of the dark matter.

sure. the battle is set on a moon the size of the earth about 4 times the distance from earth to the sun away from our sun.

the scenery on the moon, has a slight amount of air, and it's been covered with comet dust, making dunes, almost like a desert.

the moon used to be a legitimate planet, however it was knockd out of orbit by a meteorite, and it flew away, and all the water and plants flash froze, thus making the frozen desert planet of Zexeden-choob.

this is the first battle, and the RP will start the night before, at least 4 hours just before the battle, giving us time to understand each other's characters.

the leader of the attack on the antagonist's side is the shadow king.

the shadow king is a specific shadow that is designed to control a legion of shadows. there are 2 shadow kings leading this attack, meaning there are 2 legions here.

shadows, are basicly just simple silhouettes of men that are made of pure darkness. they have no faces, and no actual hands. the hands are just balls rounded from the tips of the arms. the only difference between a regular shadow and a shadow king, is shadow kings have a small collection of spikes on their head, about 3 inches off the head.

shadows are easy to kill, and take maybe 1 or two well placed hits on either the head, or the chest. the limbs don't matter, and can regenerate immediately.

shadows fight by either shooting shadow energy, or making weapons out of it. the most common form of ranged attack is a simple ray or laser. and of melee is a spike for an arm.

before the battle starts, there are trenches built at the far west corner of the moon.

that's where i expect everyone to start. the trenches are large, and big enough to hold the entire first attack.

i hope this is enough, i can't think of anything else to add here, so please tell me what to ellaborate on more, and i'll get to you as soon as i can.

and dark matter is basicly just a black object. you can see it very clearly. in fact it's opaque

@Pentagon @Rebecca Storm

Thanks. For future reference, the "Astral Unit" or AU is a unit of length equal to the average distance from the earth to the sun.

What planet is the moon orbiting?

How is there a corner on a sphere?

How did our characters get to the moon?

Why is the shadow fighting for this moon?

What is the technology of the setting?

Where are we in relation to Earth?

Does everyone on Earth know about the shadows?

I want to ask about the cosmological effects of a universe that has existed for over ten trillion years, and how it has avoided termination, but that is not exactly necessary.

It's not a lesson, just improvise! xD

I would, but I feel like the first two questions are of paramount importance to the initial situations and motivations of potential characters. The third one is just curiosity, and is not a question that needs answering.

Well, the corners bit, i'm pretty sure that''s just a theoretical saying... As for the other one, knowing sage, it's probably up to the roleplayers xD

Lutty, the only thing I'm worried about is making up information that affects multiple people, and may have major unintended ramifications on the story that not everyone is Ok with. For example, if I say that I am in high orbit on the Terran Flagship Eschatologue, then there might be problems if the plot says 'no spaceships'

the moon is not orbiting anything. it's more of a big floating icesteriod (ice-asteroid)

no there is not a corner. i don't know why i said that...it's just to the west... just say that ok? and they're all going to meet in the middle of the desert and battle from there.

i imagine if they can fly, they'd fly there, and DMWs would supply them with air with the teleporting trick. (they can open portals in mid air.) and if they can't they would be transported via DMW, or a drop ship. or anything else you might want to do with them. i know i'm not very good at this, but i'm trying my best to make sure no one quits on me!

the shadow are going to establish a shadow nest, which is basically a place where shadow are born, and/or distributed. they come out of the black sphere as fully fledged shadows, and are essentially soldiers from birth.

(imagine it slightly like this, but with black, opaque silhouettes.)

the technology is anything. there is a time wizard who was there before the war started, and went back in time to recruit anyone from the past who was willing to help out. and also recruiting from the future, they brought back the army that will drive off the shadows. (so basically any kind of technology you want. i like mixing magic and science together. it also provides funny jokes and conversations for my characters.)

not everyone knows, because it's belived to be a rumor and/or kid story, but the time wizard actually recruited anyone, and everyone willing to listen from all times on all planets. and he succeeded in his mission.

the dark eye didn't decide to take over the univers until 1,00 years ago. he then took 100 years to make a small shadow army to take over one planet, and make more soldiers, to take over moer parts, and more, so there's a section of the universe, right around the full center of all things called the dark space. it's essentially the dark eye's base of operations.

@ShadowedNexus i'm always accepting, but if someone joins late they'll have to model their character's moves to fit the story (I.E saving someone's life in the midst of the battle, or just appearing and helping.) or they'll have to re-write the entire adventure to that point.

it's absolutely perfect! i'm glad you're excited about this!

i love how he's friendly and he looks pretty cool too! i'm imagining him being the kind of 'base leader' or something right? like, he stays up in his battleship and keeps surveillance of the battle below him, and estimating their next moves and analyzing things like aliens to make sure what they are, and what they can do.

Sure. I mean, he is essentially present in all of his "soldiers", so he'll also be at the front lines murdering shadows with bombs, bullets and bayonets. The joys of being an Artificial Intelligence are myriad.

wow. your vocabulary is so big i have to look up all those fancy words like myriad. ok, i get it now. ( :D )

Added some songs, hopefully they're suitable. Will the themes play into the story or the RP at all?

no. they're just there to help give a quick idea of the characters. and if all goes well, the book might be successful, and turn into a movie. then the themes might be used. i might even consider putting in theme queues...

So I assume that we can have our chars start wherever? Like... Maybe I could start Dalin as a mercenary hired by soemone or... A high ranking soldier, maybe even a low rank foot soldier...

yeah. as long as they're in the battle somewhere, i know at one point i'm going to have 2 battles going at once to kick things into high gear.

i'm going to try and make this as similar to war as possible, although the closest reference i have is M*A*S*H, and WWII talks with Holocaust survivors.
