The Great Ninja War (Naruto) - Will war break out again even after all they did to gain peace ?

80 years after the 4th great ninja war there was a civil war in the Land of Fire. It was caused because of a power struggle between two ninja who both wanted to rule. One believing that the shinobi should be praised. That the civilians didn't deserve to be on equal footing.(the north) The other believed the complete opposite. That the shinobi and civilians were equal and that they work in harmony with each other. The civil war lasted for two years, there were many deaths. In the end, the Land...

Sora had just returned from a mission. Entering the heart of the Land of Sun she removed her anbu mask and attached it to her waist. Even though it was against the rules to take off the mask in public she didn't care. What was the kage going to do? The Araii clan was a prominent clan in the village and she was their heiress. Shinobi stared at her as she passed. Villagers would glance take glances but wouldn't dare stare at the chance that something bad would happen to them. Here the villagers were considered nothing compared to the shinobi. Taking a sharp right she walked into a tea restaurant. She needed something to help her relax. In anbu she was mostly used as a medic on the squad, and being a medic she didn't always fight and people would protect her. Sora hated relying on other. She didn't need their help. Sitting down a server came and brought her tea right away. She couldn't blame them though. The tension between here and the Land of Fire was growing. A good medic is needed on anbu in case of war. Taking a sip she leaned back in the seat. Sora wondered what would happen. She enjoyed her way of life here. As long as she knew her clan had lived this way forever. Outsiders weren't always welcomed among them and she didn't think they ever would. Sora didn't hate the villagers but she was taught that they were below her for as long as she could remember. Glancing at the servers she could see how nervous they were with her being in the place. She decided she would stay here till she was need in the compound.

(sorry if it isn't good. Haven't roleplayed naruto in a while)

The smooth rhythm of the sea was soothing. It's rolling waves and glittering surface was all entrancing. The sapphire crests left only tranquility and a smile crept on his face. He passed his fingers along the crest of a wave as he passed by. Walking on the water was far better than swimming in his opinion. There was far more beauty above the blanket of water than under it's depths. The sound of water crashing along the cliffs was the only indication that he was close to his destination. Mao tightened his black forehead protector over his right arm. The symbol polished and clean unlike those of others that have rescinded their allegiance to their village. He slowly came to a stop, away from the crashing water upon the face of the cliff. He looked up and sighed softly, 'Land of Sun. . . It's been a while.' He shifted his footing and leapt up to the cliff side. He grasped at the rocks protruding the cliff and kicked upward as he climbed the cliff. He leapt over the edge and landed on the grass, kneeling down and examining his surroundings.

The village was further in and hidden in the forests of the north. Close to thousands miles away from where Konoha was located. He walked down from the edge of the cliff through the shrubs and bushes and began to locate the path leading to the village from the east. He found the fading footprints looked like no one had traveled the path in over three weeks. He seemed content and continued down the path. The canopy of the trees shaded Mao from the sun and he was quite happy for that. It was a long journey in the sun from the islands around Kiri. He reached into his bag that hung low underneath his coat. He pulled out a cloth and began wrapping his head to cover his face and hair. He tucked in the long strands of crimson hair into the wrap and lowered his sleeves over his arms, hiding his forehead protector. His bangs were the only thing sneaking out of the wrapping and he was beginning to grow frustrated. Mao dismissed it and hoped that the shinobi he encountered wouldn't recognize the resemblance to his Terumi bloodline. Mao trudged on and walked towards the village of the Land of Sun.

After sneaking into the village, Mao set out for the meeting spot he had with a contact of his in the Sun. The roads were filled with villagers huddling over to the sides and shinobi walking in the center. He kept to himself and avoided bringing attention to himself. The eyes of the shinobi gazed on the clothing he wore and they whispered about the details of the coat. Mao's green eyes scanned across the shops and looked for the one he was looking for. He made a left at an intersection and stopped abruptly behind a Sun shinobi. The shinobi was assaulting a villager, over what Mao overheard as a display of disrespect. The villager had tried to cross the road and had blocked the Sun shinobi's path. Mao felt his blood grow hot and decided it was a wise choice to ignore the incident. The man on the floor was trying to shield himself from the onslaught of kicks. A glance escaped the fury for a second and connected with Mao. The scared, tortured feeling he felt pierced Mao's heart and caused him to look away. 'Forgive me...' he muttered before walking off. His mind swarmed with flashbacks of memories he longed to forget. He almost missed the building he had been searching for. He cut the street and hurried inside to chase down the bile that built up down his throat.

He entered the establishment and the servers were immediate with greeting him. He ordered an apple blossom tea and walked over to the end of the restaurant and sat down. Across from him sat a woman with dark plum hair and an S under her eye with two dots. He laid a note on the table in front of her and slid it towards her before the server brought him his tea. He grabbed it and drank a portion down, not concerned with the heat. He felt calmer and looked her in the eyes, "Pleasant to see you've made it back in one piece, Sora. I take it another successful mission?" Mao softly spoke out. He motioned to the note and said, "Those are the coordinates of the next supply convoy from Kiri to Konaha. The Daimyo is going to be present at the exchange." He leaned forward and eyed her softly. His hand reached up and adjusted his collar. He knew from previous conversations, Sora was callous towards outsiders even if he was on their "side".

Sora finished her cup of tea before even looking at the man in front of her. A server quickly came and asked if she wanted a refill. Glaring at the girl Sora said no and she left. Turning back to the man she sighed. "Of course it was a success. Who do you think I am some low life? I didn't become anbu just because I'm an heiress." Her voice was soft, something you wouldn't expect from her Sora looked cautiously around before picking up the note. Reading the note her eyes widened. Capturing the Daimyo would be huge. He or she would know a lot of secrets. Her mouth curved into smirk. "Will you be coming with me little one?" He was no where near little compared to her height wise or age but she enjoyed calling him that. Also she didn't want to use his real name for the fact that he is in the bingo book. Normally she wouldn't ask for someone to help her but if the Daimyo was coming he/she would bring guards.

A fire burned bright in his emerald eyes as her words lashed out at him. He grabbed his tea and had the urge of tossing it in her face. Though that would be unsavory and so he drank it down and waved his finger for another. Mao looked closely in her eyes, "I was going to offer my aid. I need to acquire some belongings I left there." He said softly. Mao looked around and noticed the others were scared and it bothered him. It wasn't like this when he was in Kiri. It left a vile taste in his mouth. He received the tea immediately and smiled at her, though she couldn't see it behind the wrappings he replaced over his face. Mao looked over to Sora and pointed a finger towards her, "Being ANBU has nothing to do with whether you're a low life or an heiress. Becoming ANBU is a... tasteless prize..." He paused and shook his head. "Never mind. Anyway, do you have a team set up already?" He said before moving down the wrappings in order to drink his tea.

Sora watched his movements carefully. "I can tell how you feel about our way of life." She closed her eyes and leaned back in her seat. "It would be wise to hide it better." Opening her eyes again she looked at him. She understood what he was feeling. Sora wasn't like most of the shinobi here. She didn't exactly approve of how things were but this is how she grew up and honestly, it would be weird if it was any other way. "Anbu is something I strived for since I was young. It's where I can test my skills...but of course not becoming a captain I can't test my abilities as a leader." The hand in her lap balled into a fist. All she could think about is her father yelling at her to be a leader and not a follower. Her being pushed to perform a technique she can't even do. Sora huffed in frustration before snapping out of it. "I have a team set up. One of them is in my clan and the other is young. Younger than me. It'll be obvious." She moved her face closer to his. "When are they due in?"

Mao waved his hand to dismiss her comment on hiding his disgust. "I have no need to hide it. I don't belong here. I don't belong anywhere. Therefore, my actions will be of my own volition." He said with a chilled glare. He didn't mean to have it sound as lethal as it did. Though, there was truth to it. Mao finished his tea and placed the cup over to keep the server from getting him more. Mao heard she had gathered her team and was curious on who they were. He eyed her plum hair and had a small wolfish grin emerge before having the chance to hide it, 'Her hair... It's just as entrancing as mine...' he thought to himself. He made a small sound as he looped back into the conversation they were having. He sat still as she was inches from his face using hushed tones. Mao snapped his teeth as he playfully tried to bite her nose off, "Soon, heh. Within the week."

Sora pulled her face back quickly and growled. He was getting a little too playful with her. "Do that again and I'll take your nose off." After a moment she calmed down and her facial features softened. She worked with him too long to stay mad at him. "Mao don't act so cozy around me." She whispered. Looking around she saw people staring at his interaction with her. No one has been able to get close to the heiress out side of her clan. "It'll raise suspicion." She paused. "Will you be staying in the village till then? If you need a place to stay I coudl hook you up with a place right outside the compound. "

With his arms crossed, Yoshiki watched as the genin trained in the field. Besides him, there were three other junin, both equally interested on how the training proceeded. All three of them had trained one of the three genin on the field, and only one winner could emerge from the fighting. Yoshiki wasn't a trainer, there was no genin under his care, and that made a ton of people look down on him.

There were two boys and a girl, all quite young, not more than 13 years old. The boy used the earth release to shield him from both land and air, thus forcing the two girls to fight each other. One of the girls focused mainly on taijutsu, she ran at with fast speed in order to get near the other one, who mainly threw kunai and shurkien to keep her off. The fight was quite intense, from time to time, the boy would emerge out of his stone walls and try a move on either of them. "So, Yoshiki..." one of the trainers spoke, without looking at him, his eyes focused on the fighting. "Who do you think is going to win?"

There was no right answer to this question. The battle was the same on all sides, and none showed their true abilities yet. One was cowering, one was running and the other was chasing. His answer would have soothed one of his friends but pissed of the other two. They worked hard on training the genin, Yoshiki knew it well. "The blondie." he answered, paying little mind to what was going on outside the fight. "Mahoko?" one of the junin asked, regarding the girl that kept running away and tossing shuriken "She'l be out of things to throw soon. Jin, on the other hand, can stay buried in stone until next week". Yoshiko chuckled, looking at his friend, Waku, whom trained the blonde girl. He knew that Waku would teach her more than just toss stuff. "You're wrong" the voice of another junin could be heard. "Mikasa is going to win. She has trained in taijutsu since before I met her. I'm sure she can beat all 3 of you." Yoshiko sighed and continued watching the fight. One of them was right, Mahao was almost out of kunai and shuriken, her hit and run tactic wasn't too good, and the other girl kept chasing her. The boy emerged again, raising a wall of stone from the ground to block Mahao. She stopped just before hitting it at high speed. Mikasa ran after her, with her right fist raised in the air, chakra twirling around it. A smile could be seen on Mahao's face as she turned around with a higher speed. Mikasa hit the wall and broke it, but as Mahao turned her kicked followed, hitting Mikasa flat in the face and sending her off to the ground next to the boy. He looked down at her scared that Mahao could do this. When he tilted his head back up from the ground a kunai was at his neck. Mahao had won.

Each junin and genin walked their own way, expect for Mahao, who walked behind Yoshiki and Waku. "You guessed right, Yoshiki. You should place some bets next time". He grinned "I expected nothing less from a girl trained by you"

"Just imagine what one of your genin could do! If you start training some, you would understand how good it feels to see them win!" he tried persuading Yoshiko, whom sighed "You know I don't do that, Waku. I like going on missions, not training others..." Waku was a saddened a little by how direct Yoshiko was "Speaking of which, that Araii girl has a job outside the city. I might just join her."

"Sora Araii? The heiress? You should be more respectful towards nobility, Yoshiko, or you might just get in trouble"

"I'm not respecting someone who didn't earn my respect, Waku. I am...was nobility too, but you don't see me going around asking people to bow before me. This entire village is fucked up in that regard, people win a headband and they think they are kings and queens."

Waku frowned "What would an outsider like you know about our village!? If you don't like how things are going, you are free to leave." Waku changed directions, Mahao following him closely Yoshiko was surprised, but was bold enough not to apologise "The Kage should have turned you in, not welcome you!"

He walked the streets of the city, hurt by his friend's words. He saw just the girl he was talking about at the teahouse, drinking with a cloaked and mysterious man. He took a stool near them, not afraid to interrupt whatever they were talking about.
"Sora!" he called as he sat next to her. They never really knew eachother, Yoshiki was mainly making assumptions on her personality. They met on proper terms and did some minor missions togather, but Yoshiki never really got to know her. "I hear you're going on a mission..." he stopped to look at the red haired man next to her, whom looked both silly and rough in Yoshiko's eyes. "I can join in right? Getting tired of idling in the village"

He kept switching views from her to him, unknowingly he stared at him more than he should Who is this guy... he kept asking himself.

In a flash Sora was standing next to Yoshiki. "You," She crabbed his collar and pulled him up to her. "don't have a right to interrupt so casually, Yoshiki." She growled. Sora felt a growl start to emit from her throat. The people who were staring before now turned away. That was the person they were used to. Her eyes were wild while looking at him. Her other hand clenched into a fist. "Do that again and there might be a problem." She let him go. "LIttle one, this is one of the people I had in mind. Didn't think he was going to be so rude."

"You'd have to track me down first, Sora. And your people have a tough time with that as it is." He smiled before covering up his face. He was always evading the local sensory shinobi since he was worth a bit of money. He sighed as she spoke, 'Can't help being cozy and comfortable... Ooooh well.' He nodded, "Forgive me, Sora. I've forgotten my place." Mao was about to respond to her request of a place to stay when a young man ran in and intruded in.

Mao stood quiet as he listened to him blurt out the information that was supposed to be secret. Mao shook his head and tried to make sure his bangs were hidden under his wrappings. Sora had him by his collar and threatened him. He made eye contact with the kid and softly glared at him, "For a rogue ninja, you divulge too much information, Yoshiki. " Mao shook his head and waved his hand at Sora. "I guess I've stayed long enough. I'll find you like I usually do, heiress." Mao softly said before making signs and fading into the ground.

"Rude?" he said, with half a smile on his face. "I'l be sure not to step in on important meetings with 'little ones' again, Sora, but, if anything, you were the rude one." he looked at her, his smile now completely vanished. He knew she was like that, but she didn't expect her to act in such a manner with so many people around. That was exactly the reason she gained the reputation of being the repulsive heiress. He turned to the red haired man. He couldn't tell where, but he Yoshiki was sure he saw him before. He smirked a little a the thought, but the man simply vanished away after speaking Yoshiko's name. He snapped his fingers instantly after the man vanished

"Burning Mist..." he spoke silently, only for Sora to hear "Me and him are on the same page you know?" he turned to Sora again, chuckling a little "I mean, literally - the same page in the Bingo Book." he awaited her reaction, realizing what a bad joke he just spat out.

Suiro carefully eyed the trio from a safe point with his Byakugan, constantly checking the photo in his bingo book with the cloaked man's face.

"That's the Burning Mist huh, seems strong... I hope he earns his reputation, and his bounty." Deactivating the dojutsu he made his way towards the nearest bar, hoping for once they had good enough drinks.

Sora did not move her eyes away from Yoshiki when Mao left. "Honestly I'm surprised the Kage let you stay." As an Anbu she knew who he was the instant she first saw him. Not doing anything outside of a few missions with him Sora didn't really know what kind of personality he had, but she did know he can fight and that was why she chose him. Hearing the name Mao had in the Bingo Book cause her to bring her mind back to the conversation. "Being an anbu in this village I have to know every criminal in the Bingo Book. Though I really wonder if you are as strong as him." She pulled out her wallet and inwardly cursed. "Stupid Mao not leaving money." Outwardly she sighed. Now she was going to have to pay for two. Not that she didn't have the money, her clan was pretty wealthy and she earned a lot from her missions, she just didn't like spending it. "Now if you want to hear about the mission I suggest us going somewhere else. No one was supposed to know about this mission to go outside the village, but thanks to you the whole teahouse knows and it wouldn't surprise me if the wrong people will try and listen in." Sora walked out of the tea house and jumped onto the roof. She continued to jump from rooftop to rooftop towards the Araii compound. The training grounds over there were always abandoned.

He got out and followed Sora through the rooftops, multiple thoughts swarming his mind

Well...this day's been going great so far. Sora isn't afraid to speak her mind, so why should I? There are tens of missions going on in the village and she gets mad that a tea house heard about one of them. It's been three months since I came in service here, most looked down on me, but the Kage offered more than he should. He places strength above all when he looks at someone...heh...reminds me of father

As he was thinking he slipped on a rooftop and fell down. In the air he quickly waved the hand sings Wind Release: Stream!. And out of his mouth poured waves of air that helped him flow faster towards Sora. He reached up to her, and before he knew it they reached some lifeless training grounds in the Araii compound. He walked up to her "This mission must be quite important if you get so worked up about it..." he managed to say it in an harmless way "What's it about?"

In a way Sora was surprised by the technique. She never really saw a ninja use a jutsu just to keep himself from falling. A few moments later she landed gracefully on the ground. "No one was ever supposed to even hear about it besides the people going on it. The kage knows but he knows almost none of the details." She walked over to a shady spot under a tree and sat down. "Sometime this week there is going to be a supply convoy from Kiri to Konaha. The Daimyo is going to be present at this exchange. I don't know why but he/she will. The Burning Mist came to me today to give me this information along with the coordinates of the location in exchange he will retrieve something of his from the convoy. Our job is to take the Damiyo alive for interrogation."

Once again, Mao found himself standing in front of a giant oak once he emerged from the ground. He felt the bark on its massive trunk and ran his fingers down to the scars fading away four feet above the ground. Two wide gouges indented the brown-green flesh that showed signs of healing. He rubbed the outer rim of the wound and placed his forehead against the oak.

'It's been a while since I've been here. I'm sorry I haven't visited you. Been busy. The marks are fading but the blood stains aren't gone. They stain my mind. Just like... well let's leave that in the past. I'm back though. At least for a while.

Mao opened his eyes and saw the crimson overshadowing the piercings in the tree. He lifted his head off the bark and shifted his bangs to the side. He glanced to the right and saw the boulder hugging the tree tightly. His hand touched the face and he channeled his chakra through it. The boulders face concaved and opened leading to stone steps down into the earth. He made sure to sense the earth around him and was content with the results. No one was within 400 yards other than the wildlife outside Neo-Konoha. Mao walked in and shut the entrance as he stepped down the stairs. There was only darkness and the taste of musk with stale air. Mao made a few hand signs, Lava Style: Lava Glob . His hand filled with a few balls of glowing lava and he tossed it into the glass bowls he crafted for them. Two open rooms came alit with a high reddish orange glow. The rooms were simple, one bigger than the other. The bigger one held a bed and a table. The other had a desk and a few face down portraits. Mao laid on the bed and finally took the rest of the evening to regain his energy after the long trek back to the mainland.

(In the Kage's office)

"Sir an unknown ninja has entered the village." A jonin was kneeling in front of the kage's desk. The chair was turned around and only the kage's shadow could be seen. "Go after him." The jonin nodded and disappeared. Re-appearing in front of the main bar in the village. Closing his eyes he searched for a chakra signature that didn't belong. Opening his brown eyes he made a few hand signs and transformed into a tall attractive blonde woman. Wearing a tight strapless dress and high heels. The only thing that was the same was his eyes. He hated this transformation but it always worked for getting what he wants. Walking into the bar men turned to stare at his transformation as he walked towards the outsider.

Not too far in the distance, Matsudai slowly walked towards the gates, keeping a calm demeanor with her ninja clothing covered by peasant garb. When in Rome, right? Passing through the massive gate opened to the village, Matsudai started to make her way towards the bar and settled down in the back, quietly ordering a green tea to quench her thirst. Scoping out the village by herself was always a risky play, but sometimes it paid off and with her being so soft and quiet, sometimes she got out without a fight or a scuffle...but this was the land of the Sun...she needed to be very careful to tread lightly. It was always dangerous territory... Thanking the nervous waiter for giving her the glass of tea, Matsudai graciously took the cup into her hands and blew the steam tower away, taking a small sip to sample the delicate liquid, hearing footsteps drawing closer towards her.

(( Sorry it is so short :( I didn't want to disrupt anything ))

When passing Matsudai the jonin froze. How many people made it past the gate? No the girl didn't feel as much as a threat as the man does. Walking up to him the jonin sat down. "Do you mind if I join you?" His voice was changed to match his form. It was sweet and seductive.

Still sampling her cup of tea, Matsudai sighed gently to herself at the warmth that spread through her chest to the savory liquid running down her throat. Her ears perked to the sound of the 'woman' walking towards another stranger, simply picking up her cup of tea again to take another soft drink. He was certainly not a woman, Matsudai knew that for sure...she listened intently for any hints of why the person was there...

"Go ahead." The blonde took a seat, Suiro eyed her curiously, he thought something was wrong, but he blamed it on food poisoning, the product of sake and ramen mixed together. "If you're thinking about getting the ramen here, save your breath. It's about half as good as it looks."

The jonin sat down next to him. "I'll make sure to keep that in mind." He/she smiled at Suiro. "Though I'm not particularly interested in eating here. How about," He/she put one hand on Suiro leg while the other hand made signs for a genjutsu to put him to sleep.

Back at the training grounds...

Yoshiki walked up to her under the tree, but didn't sat down. Now he could understand why the mission was so important - capturing the Daimyo was no regular job. "You intend to bring the Daimyo in?" he asked her, finally taking a seat. "And you're bringing Burning Mist with us?" before she could answer, Yoshiki continued talking "It's clear you never met a rouge ninja before, Sora. I don't want to be rude, but he might do more than scavenge the convoy." His head moved closer to her's, leaving little distance between his mouth and Sora's ear. He would begin speaking silently, even if the grounds were abandoned. He wanted to tell her more, that the Daimyo could help erase names from the bingo book. If Burning Mist were to betray Sora and take the Daimyo's side, the battle would be lost. Rouge ninja only look out for themselves, he knew that better than anyone - which was exactly the reason he couldn't tell her. She was cold, she cared little about Yoshiki. He would give her a motive not to take him on the mission. After a few moments, he got his head away from hers as his eyes quickly changed direction. He didn't trust her...

"Do you...have any brothers, or sisters, Sora?" he tried changing the subject.

Sora leaned her head back against the tree and closed her eyes. "Yes he is coming with us." She said softly. Her eyes opened again and she looked up at the sky. "And you don't know Burning Mist the way I do." It didn't surprise her to have Yoshiki's face so close to her's. She watched him intensely, trying to figure out what he was thinking and then he pulled away. Her body stiffened. "Of course I have a sibling. I have a younger brother." She smiled for a moment before it disappeared, being replaced with a stoic look. "But he has nothing to do with this. None of my family does."
