@Hellkite

You two going to make posts along the lines of getting to your lodgings for the night? Or am I free to proceed,assuming you have? Reply ASAP,please.

@Izzy Ballard

I've noticed you joined the Players list,but haven't made a character. Any questions?
Free to procede on my account- I think my character will be okay with a slight timejump.

Posting now.

@Izzy Ballard

Second call. I see you on my player's list,but you have no character. Is there a problem?

EDIT

And post made. Feel free to continue to interact with your NPC's,read your letters,and other things until the new day begins. If you decide not to do these things,then let me know here so I know not to wait on you.

Don't wait on me, I've done about as much as I can with Yavin, until some later time

Okay, I'll have one for you in two days from this post. My weekend is going to be very busy.

Not entirely happy with my post - I feel like it's lacking detail. The heat is draining every single bit of my creativity.

Hope everyone's keeping cool! :)

@Hellkite

I'd appreciate it if you followed the same format as the rest of us,listing your character's location while we're separated. This is so we can all keep track of who's where,and don't have any confusion.

Oh course, sorry. Was rushing slightly to get the post out- will correct it now.

For all current and future players: Do not,even for a second,rely on the automated notification system for letting you know if someone posted in this,or any RP. It can be wrong,and,in my experience,it is wrong most of the time. Manually check on this RP,and all RP's you're involved in,on a regular basis. Simply checking up will only take about one minute per RP.

^^

Always,Icy. One caveat,however: I expect communication and regular posting. With that in mind,feel free to make a character application.
Well ain't that great ^^

No worries, I'm nearly, perfectly free since I only have another rp and school... Which reminds me, unless I have any major Exam I won't take any breaks, I believe :)

AAAGGGHHH Grandos is being reawakened, TT-TT At least now I'm not as sucky as I was before... -shudders.-

I suggest reading the "Almaz" and "Magitech" sections of the Codex again,Icy,before you continue. Even in this incomplete state,there is one impossibility,and one great improbability.
The improbability is the fact that she comes from Almaz I suppose? I was going to explain it in the background section but I'll run it through you first. She was born to a military father [obviously with the spark] and her mother, a slave merchant, who also possessed the spark. However, she was born without it, making her kind of a disgrace to her family. Her family would ignore her existence and treat her like a slave from a young age. When she turned ten, a fire broke out, and nearly everyone in her family ended up dead. However, she had the luck of being rescued by one of the mundane slaves who took her away, and gave it a gamble as they put her on the next rail to Jugo.

She lived on the streets for awhile before getting picked up by an orphanage.

And the impossibility, I'm guessing, is the weapons. It's so the weapons, right? I forgot that it was developed merely fifty years ago, making it quite impossible for her to be so good at it. I'll fix it, in a bit.

If I'm wrong, please do inform me ^^

The impossibility being that she owns handguns. Rolf is in possession of the sole handgun being considered for production,and it's still an early prototype. The improbability is that she was born in Almaz,where Mundanes are slaves,and managed to get a life of her own elsewhere,let alone becoming a Spook. Theoretically,it CAN happen,but it's incredibly unlikely.

The improbability can stay. I'll judge it fully when the character's background is completed on the sheet.

Done deal, I'll erase the handguns and work on the background ^^

I have a question regarding the limits of magic. I understand that you need a reagent, and all that to cast a spell, however I wonder what sort of limits these spells have.

Can the spells be anything with the right reagent, and ritual? Like, for example, turning people into frogs or perhaps even putting curses on someone? Or does it lean more to being able to cast a fireball? Or use it to heal someone?

So, to put it simply, what sorts of spells are we talking about?

Also, does a spell 'live on' after the casters death? That is, if a spell was used on a object/subject, and the caster passes away, what happens to said object/subject?

Can one remove a spell by themselves, by using another spell? Can the caster remove the spell they put on a object/subject?
And on the subject of healing, if that is possible, are the hospitals equipped with objects that have some sort of spell and are only those with sparks able to become doctors? Do they have large amounts of gold/silver/platinum/gemstones provided to them, due to their need of them to save someone's life?

Magic has very few limits,provided the mage in question provides enough reagent to power the spell,and an appropriate ritual for the complexity of the spell. Permanent,or spells that last long enough to be mistaken as permanent,can be done with enough reagent (At least a goose egg-sized gemstone) and an appropriate ritual (Probably a one hundred man ritual dance around an enormous magic circle for an hour and a half).

Put simply: A spell can have any magnitude,so long as enough reagent is provided. Any material on Grandos can be used,but precious metals and gemstones,as well as materials from Dagnone provide practical amounts of potential magical energy. Something like a steel bearing will provide next to nothing.

A spell can have any complexity,so long as a ritual of appropriate complexity is performed. Combat spells generally have very simple rituals,for obvious reasons,though some combat spells are incredibly complex. When cast,a spell is "free". It will continue to exist until it expends the energy bequeathed to it by the reagent.

If you can imagine it,you can cast it,provided you have the materials and time.

As for spell negation,some spells can be negated with another spell. The obvious "Fire melts ice,water extinguishes fire" combo comes to mind. Less obvious neutralizations exist,such as for countering invisibility. As for specifically undoing a spell,without casting the proper opposite? Very difficult,as it involves taking away the spell's energy,effectively using the cast spell as your reagent. It should be noted that the mage has to touch the reagent to use it.

Hospitals on Jugo are staffed by mages and mundanes,as well as being equipped with magitech specialized for different means of healing. Magitech can be used by mundanes (it was invented for this purpose),and the mages in hospitals (Almaz,Jugo,Canak) are trained healers,medics,nurses,AND,half the time,doctors and surgeons. In Bockrath,they simply have mundanes and magitech,while on Almaz,they don't have magitech in their hospitals,while the mundane staff is relegated to a support role IE janitorial and secretary staff.

All magitech is powered by a core made of an appropriately magical material. In hospitals,they tend to go with silver or platinum cores,with several spares handy.

Alrighty, so then, about the time limit, is it possible for a spell to last until a certain 'event'? And can spells be 'activated'?

I have this idea for an object, I call it Upon-Death-Journal/Death Journal.

It's a journal, obviously, that has the ability to 'store' away a page after the ink has dried until the death of the writer. These pages would disappear into thin air after the ink has dried, and by using a drop or two of the writers blood to identify the writer. Upon the death of the writer, the pages would appear in the writers hand, as a journal with their name on it.

I also have an idea on how it came to be, the original name being Matthews Journal. >.>

@The Empress of Ice

To create a delayed firing spell,you need an immediately firing spell to tell it when to fire,acting like a tripline or pressure plate,with the breaking or activation of this magical trigger being the ritual to fire off the OTHER spell,meaning that tripline triggers unleash incredibly simple spells,while pressure plate (often rune circles) triggers can have variable complexity,but often never reaching the complexity of a manually fired spell. As enchantment doesn't exist in this iteration of Grandos,the Death Journal would have to be Magitech,which would mandate two powerful cores. Platinum,at least.

Then there's the issue of dying. There's no way to restore the soul to the body after death. The soul lingers for an hour or so,but after that,resurrection is impossible.

There is no practical use for such a piece of Magitech,outside of an overly paranoid conspiracy theorist. Even then,most people going after conspiracy theorists who happen to be correct also cook the books,regardless if there's "anything written in them."

@Kairo

You two still alive? Heartsteal has told me that he refuses to post if it means his post is back to back to mine,due to the deli scene.

@ninbinz

Doing well,I hope.
