Asher meant to also sent Carlos, but he was clearly unable to focus on anything but Kaleb, so he decided that this was good enough. He watched Jordan got for a moment then stepped back inside. “I’m unpacking. Feel free to continue to relieve the only other worker whenever you feel like it.” He shook his head and quickly moved the rooms to put things away. Carlos paid literally no attention to what Asher said. He was utterly engrossed in Kaleb’s presence. “I thought I would remind you of what’s yours.” He placed one of Kaleb’s hands on his arms with a grin. “And remind you of what you used to watch when you were my favorite officer, and I was your troublemaker tearing down old buildings.” He on plenty of occasions specifically did strong things to show off for Kaleb.
Between the two of them, Ezekiel choked out a laugh. “Here I was thinking that the quartet for which we are making things were the only ones like that. Turns out that you brought another one with you. How fitting that you all live in the same place.” His first attempt was going poorly. It was too drippy. He moved back to the fire to grab more and try again next to the failed attempt. “Alex is working on the arch for Carlos and Kaleb’s wedding. He is practically a woodworker now. I,” he paused to work with the molten metal, “am learning how to create a ring for Jordan. He plans to ask Asher to marry him at the end of the week.” This second attempt was better but not good. What was he doing wrong? “I am taking a collection of finger measurements for fabrication. Alex has offered to be my test subject.”
