Backstory: Cinder’s father was a very wealthy and powerful man. So naturally, he managed to get a hold of a dose of the Serum Lux and had it presented to his only daughter as a gift for her eighteenth birthday. But now, she has completely succumbed to the serum’s detrimental affects. She has since been shunned from her family. They have turned a blind eye to her plight, have cast her out of the household, and have abandoned her to fend for herself. She had no choice but to retreat to the woods outlying one of the grandest cities, Skylarka. Thankfully, she’s not alone. Despite being a Pristine himself, her older brother came after Cinder when she was banned from her house and family. Without any true understanding of how these changes work, or what is to come next, Cinder waits. For what, she doesn’t know. Maybe a cure.

Backstory:Jedd had always had problems with his father. His father's focus was solely money, power, and influence. Jedd, just didn't give damn. He already thought that society was superficial, aimless, and quite honestly, useless. And his father was one of the main contributors to that. When his father cast his younger sister, Cinder, out of the family and personally had her escorted out of the gates of Skylarka, it was the last straw. Jedd grabbed a pack of a few things and took off after Cinder into the forest.

Backstory: Sonder grew up in a fairly typical family. She was the only daughter of a family with 3 boys. She loves her brothers and parents. Sonder loves the alterations one can make to their body and became obsessed with them- wanting bigger, better, more outrageous. Of course when Serum Lux came out, she had to try it. She managed to get some. She fell ill, but fought it hard and developed her power (or curse, as she views it). Her family tried to see past the illness and the sick power, but they couldn't. She seriously harmed her older brother Sam, and that was the final straw. Her family kicked her out, leaving her alone and afraid. Not knowing what else to do she left her city and now lives on the outskirts, wandering about. She has nothing more to live for. She fears that there will never be a cure, and that no one will ever again love her.

Backstory: Marco was the top of the social ladder true to his name he was the golden child, and so were his alterations. One day Marco was at a party it was the social event of the season, his birthday, His girlfriend (who had made herself silver to compliment him)was on his arm throughout the night, he was planning to propose to her later that evening. They had been there for a while and his girlfriend had left to mingle with some old friends who had arrived while Marco was talking to some relatives and business partners. While she was gone they brought out the cake and some presents. His father brought him off to the side and down a hallway and showed him his special present, Serum Lux, actually two, one for his future fiance, his father winked at him knowing his sons plans. Unfortunately down the hall they went was Marcos girlfriend and she was kissing another boy. He gasped at the sight but the two were so involved with each other they didn't notice the onlookers. With the two lux in hand he ran away from the scene, he heard his father yelling, and down the stairs, he made it out the back door of the building hoping no one would find him. But someone was already there. ( read the other one to find out what happened! but read the rest first) He got sick after that and stayed sick randomly pain would wrack hid body and he didn't know what to do then he discovered his power. And his family scared of his power and his fits of pain kicked him out. His father didn't want to but it would look bad on his business if he didn't. (the rest down bottom)

If a Fader, a description of your new power: He can control light, when he gains control of it it turns golden. However much effort he puts into using his power Alexei loses that much energy, it can make her lethargic and unable to do simple tasks, she can even fall asleep or be unable to move if he uses the power too much. She can be stuck that way for hours even days, the only thing that seems to make her better is sugar and it is hard to get that being outcasts, and it only is a temporary fix. (what he doesn't know is the power is literally coming from her life-force)

Backstory: (sorry it is so long their backstory is complicated) Alexei was a bottom of the barrel, bonafide street-rat. She lived everyday looking for her next meal. Then one day she found a guy who said all her worries would be over he had a job just for a girl like her. Only they weren't over, her worries only began. He was one of the alteration junkies searching for the next big thing and he was using her body to do it. He was rich and powerful enough to do it he even planted a tracer in her body so she could never run away. He always transformed her body in astonishing ways and then showed her off at parties. Her most recent transformation was minor because he was in a slump but it was very blue and feathery there were more on her dress to make it showy that night. She managed to get away from him when the cake was served for this preppy boy and she snuck out the back for a moment of air and to just enjoy being outside. a few minutes later someone opened the back door and she was shocked to see it was the preppy golden boy and not her master come to claim her. he seemed angry she was there, he yelled at her for a few minutes like she was the source of his problem, and she cringed away moving into a corner trying to become as unnoticeable as possible. He suddenly realized how broken she seemed eyes widening, he tried to comfort her, she cringed away from his touch and snapped at him with words. he started talking to her about his problems she softened. Said he would get over it and they talked. He ended up pulling out the Lux after a while and offering to her. He didn't have a better use for it now. and he thought he owed this girl something for withstanding the yelling and then talking to him and listening his problems. Maybe he was just buzzed from the party, who knew? But thinking maybe if she took it her master would finally except her and stop trying to change her (a hopeless wish) she excepted. And wallowing in their collective misery they took it at the same time. Her master came for her then and she showed him what she had done. He was upset and he would have hit her if it would have messed up his masterpiece. He said he would have never wasted that on her, and dragged her away. Marco tried to stop him but she told him to leave it and get on with his life. Her master ignored her for a while and she started to get sick she tried to hide it but then he noticed then wen she got scared she started changing with out even noticing. he realized she was a Fader and kicked her back on the streets where he found her. by some chance of luck she saw the golden boy. and she tried to change her image so he wouldn't recognize her she saw him spasm in pain. she ran up to him without thinking the disguise slipping and when she got there back to normal he was fine. he recognized her and she saw his tattered clothing and she realized he was a Fader too. Eventually after traveling together they realized their powers were linked in some strange way.

-Feathers for hair, long intertwining with the short mainly blue and cool colors but with a few highlights of warm.


-Blue stones on her nuckles


-eyes with sapphire accents


-short Blue feathers for eyelashes


-same feathers as hair coming a small ridge down the sides of her neck and expanding to cover her shoulders.


-Her nails are tinted blue and inlaid with sapphires.

Whenever she changes a part of her body Marco feels pain in the place she changed for how ever long she holds it. The complexity of the change creates the amount of pain. (She never changes her hair only because the one time she did Marco's hair started falling out and she likes his hair).

Backstory:


While death was not a common occurrence it is not say that there where not the unlucky few who had loved ones succumb to it. It seemed as if the Fairchild’s where to be known for being outliers of the unlucky sort. Raised solely by her father who grief fallowed Aisling came into a world where there was no fairytales or happy endings. With a dead mother, and an odd disease that had stumped even many doctors Aisling’s childhood was hard. Her father was not the sort to show his love but he cared deeply for Ash, and while she did not have loving words her father did open up the world to her. A researcher by trade, one of the senior officers within the top biotech company in the world, young Oberon Fairchild showed his daughter to a world that was just as beautiful as it was dangerous. For who needed stories of princesses, fairies and mermaids when she saw first hand the results of latest trends, beings that where much too beautiful to be described. Who needed princes when men came in and became stronger then any prince with senses as keen as those of the monsters they slew. There was no magic to this world but the wolves hidden in sheep’s clothing where everywhere. She loved going to work with her father, talking to surgeons and learning much more about the world then any 9 year old ever should. Sadly the worst was yet to come. The disease she had, the one seemed to stump even the best of mind got worse. While they where able to contain and eventually cure it, the amount of damage done to young Aisling’s nerves was irreparable. By age 11 she had lost her sight entirely. The next two years where spent locked behind doors, there where no more ethereal beings to be seen or doctors and their children to chat with, all she had was her father, and her father threw himself into his work. Alterations where known for changing appearances, but using them to cure disabilities was risky. Limbs could be replaced but there where few things that one could do with eyes. With what was currently in the market his daughter would not be able to see the world as she had before. So he created his own product one that would win him a fortune and his daughter the ability to see, not just as well as any human but better, farther, clearer. By the time Ash was able to get her eyes back she had learned to go about her life normally, in fact most would have never guessed she was blind as long as she interacted with them at her home. Yet she was ever aware of her lack of perfection, something that bother her deeply. To distract from her haunting, not seeing eyes, her father’s best friend and colleague agreed to alter her body. With hair that crackled like fire, and skin that shimmer like diamonds she became one of those fantastical looking people; from afar she just like any of them was a perfect doll. Matched with her new eyes and well she looked nothing short of a fairy.


Years past and the young independent girl few into a smart young women with an unhealthy curiosity. Determined to become the second Dr.Fairchild Ash threw herself into her studies, learning anything and everything about the human body and using her wild imagination to conjuring up better, fiercer and more resilient beings. Her main focus the five senses and using what the body already had. Trends came and went and it was her job to be mindful of them. She just like any other researcher at the time was excited about the release of the latest and greatest alteration, Serum Lux. A product made by the leaders in the medical field one that everyone was itching to get their hands on. Ash just like everyone else wanted it so much that it hurt but, not even her father’s status would help her when it came to this. Only the Creme de la Creme got it and she certainly did not qualify as the elite. Disappointed but not dishearten Ash instead became wildly curious about what this miracle serum actually did. Stealing her father’s pass key and sneaking into the companies’ record room Ash set off to answer the question that had been bugging her for months on end now. What she found left her feeling breathless, furious, sick to her stomach and worse guilty. It was people like her who wanted a better to tomorrow that caused these genetic anomalies..people like her and her father who turned people into outcasts, gave them disabilities of the worst kind. They knew..and no was doing anything about it, the serum came with no warning label and the vast population of people where blissfully obvious of the consequences. Science was getting out of hand people where becoming test subjects. They called the genetic anomalies faders, pariahs in ever sense of the word. Knowing fully well what it was like to be imperfect in a world full of perfection; Ash gulped back her fear and did the one thing she wasn’t suppose to do. She wasn’t going to turn and look the other way. Ironic really, doctors where no longer suppose to heal, schooled in it yes but, it was no longer their top priority; Ash was going to make it hers, her patients, the victims of Serum Lux. Now the one question is how the hell was she going to find them.

Eyes that actually are able to see, in fact her eyesight is sharper then most allowing her to see farther and notice even the smallest of detail. Most would see that as a boring change but, with their startling amethyst color and the ability to push past the limitation of the human eye, Aisling treasures them above all.

Other: Very smart; has spent most of her life around books and for most of her life she was the only true companion her father had, he never babied her, thus she learned a lot. Due to spending two years completely blind Ash is quite independent, and adaptable, she has learned to look for an answer rather then panicking. Ash has a strong sense of right and wrong one that has lead her to risk it all in order to help those who have been effected.

Backstory: Cole was born an outlaw. Although this society claims perfection, nothing can stop the temptation of illicit affairs--and that was how he came about. An illegitimate child. His mother, abandoned by his so-called father (an already-married man), was forced into poverty before the age of the serums came along. But it was too late--Cole had been so young, lost too much... He'd learned the ropes of theft and fallen in love with it. Nothing was permanent, he could choose his life. And it was this attribute that made the new Lux Serum so appealing to him as he came of age. With an assembled crew, he'd stolen a sample and taken it, but rather than the handsome, young man he wanted to become, he turned into a monster. Only those that had been previously rejected accepted him, and he devoted his life to bringing peace and fortune to those who were like him--even if it meant breaking a few rules.

-silver ink marks lines and patterns on his skin, changing color with his rage (darker, to almost a slate grey as his hostility increases). the markings show all over his arms, torso, and legs, but his face and neck are clear of them


-when he shifts completely into his other form, he lights up like burning coal but is immune to the temperature


-his eyes flicker into the color of embers when he's even slightly irritated or worried, otherwise they glitter black when he is calm..


-uniquely, he never smells of smoke in his dormant form and rather smells like pine trees and fresh air


-sometimes, if the light is right, you can see the shadow of the black smoke swirling under his skin, but only if you look hard enough

If a Fader, a description of your new power: Cole can shift or transform any part of his body into burning coal, and can conduct fire as he wishes. It proves detrimental to Cole as he struggles to survive with smoke in his lungs--as a result of this "disease," he sometimes puffs clouds of smoke, in a more or less comical sense depending on the situation. Eventually, he learns to live with it, but must be careful for the people/living beings around him, since the smoke he breathes can prove to be toxic in large doses (to others). His power is also sensitive to the feeling of anger, which is unfortunate, because Cole has minor (read: major) anger issues.


Other: Cole has a very lax personality. He likes to tease and be a sarcastic git, but when it comes down to it, he's only looking for a place to fit in. He's really rough around the edges, and at times is nearly despicable, but he's got a loyal side that can't be denied.

Backstory: Opal comes from a family, very rich but very distant. She was an only child since her mother hated children and was raised by her maids. Since her family was all about keeping up with the Jones naturally they all got the serums. Opal was against it from the start but she couldn't do much to stand up for herself. Soon after she heard the stories and tried to tell her family, the just dismissed her and asked why she didn't like the pretty new her. Opal couldn't stand it any longer and ran away with her maids help. Now she wonders hopping to find a cure before she too turns and fades.

Backstory: To understand Reason you have to understand her parents. Reason’s parents are huge world famous actors that are multi-millionaires. Everything they do is to better themselves. Everything is make themselves look better and increase their fame. Even their marriage to each other was to increase their fame and make themselves better. Reason was also born because of that need to better themselves, they didn’t want a child they just wanted something to make themselves to look better.


All Reason’s life she was taught to be perfect and not do anything that didn’t benefit herself. That was even the reason for her name, a constant reminder to think about what she will get out of something. Her last name was her dad’s choice as well; having legally changed his name to Ladyluck, hoping Lady luck will always be on his sides family side. Reason isn’t happy with her name so goes by Bell all the time so no one will know her relation to her parent and as a way to separate herself from the constant reminder of being selfish.


However growing up in that life it isn’t any surprise that Reason grew up to be a selfish spoiled brat who is obsessed with herself. Even though she was practically raised by nannies and her uncle they only had a little effort on making her a little different than her parents. Reason is not afraid to give someone the cold shoulder or to tear them down for not dressing in the latest fashion. Yet put a camera in front of her and she will be the sweetest person ever that you will meet. After many days years with her uncle Reason is a crazy car fanatic that has no problem getting down and dirty to fix a car but she wouldn’t tell anyone for that her and her uncles secret alone. If anyone knew about it that would ruin her beautiful perfect girl appearance.


Having all the animals and toys and things you could want you would think would be perfect but it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine. When Reason was 10 years old she was kidnapped by someone. Reason doesn’t remember a lot about it other than being shoved in a dark cold cellar and tied to a chair. She never saw her kidnapper but she heard his nasally voice make the ransom calls to her parents. She was eventually saved and her parents went about their way like nothing happened. Reason never forgot though and ever since then she made sure she was able to protect herself and learned any self-defence there was out there. She would never be helpless again. As she grew up and realized how selfish her parents were she couldn’t help but think they hired someone to kidnap her for how much publicity they gave her. She never told anyone this suspicion but since she got it when she was 15 she has never been able to get over it.


This suspicion never stopped her from achieving perfect and bettering herself and so when she heard about the serum she couldn’t help but need it. Reason always needed the latest and best thing. Unlike the faders she never experienced the downsides of it, which she made her believe what she always thought, she was better than everyone else.

-skin that glows like soft candle light in the dark.


- Hair that shifts with shades of blue, green and purple much like a raven’s feather that shifts all the time.


- A tattoo of a Dove on her shoulder blades that moves around much like a real animal, a tribute to her uncle.


- Wings in blue and green and purples to match her hair. These wings can’t make her fly but she can flutter them and move them like real wings. They can also fold down her back to look almost like a cape when not in use. They fall to her knees.


-bells implanted along her wing tips so small they look like tiny pearls so that when she moves them they chime and tinkle like she is a tiny fairy.


- Diamonds in her knuckles so that when she punches someone she packs more of a punch.


-skin that can harden and sparkle like a diamond when desired (thanks to the serum).
