The Experience

The trip from Thaliost and to the east had been quite difficult for Eldebel. He had never really left the city before and this traveling thing wasn't all he had cut it out to be. Making it all the way to the bridge that crossed the Aundair river to Daskaran, he looked upon the ruined stone structure with a bit of disappointment. Had he taken the wrong path? Maybe gone a bit more north or south than he should have. This didn't look like a bridge that got much use. It was a little concerning that the place looked like this. In his past experiences, the path less traveled was usually that way for a reason.

Either way, he decided that this was what he had been looking for in the first place. The ruined bridge looked like it could be quite a sight, even if there was nothing to be found. As the half elf approached the crumbling stone structure he noted the way the first two pillars were falling apart, partially covered in vines and crumbling bit by bit. As old as the bridge seemed, it looked to be in good condition. Just past the first two pillars stood a marble statue of a pegasus, crumbling with age and half of its left wing missing.

More important than the crumbling structures and statues was the green skinned creature that was crouching close to the ground just beside the pegasus. It seemed to be picking at something at the ground. Clank, clank, clank. Whatever the thing was playing with seemed to be made out of metal as he picked it up and dropped it down to the ground over and over again. It seemed to be distracted but not enough to miss Eldebel approaching him from the east. The thing turned to look at him, drooling spit from his grinning mouth as it stood up completely, showing just how tall the ugly thing was. Eldebel yanked his sword from the sheath and stepped back slightly, this being the first battle against a creature of this size and strength for him.

Kali had been in the same spot for too long. She had remained in the hut she had made when she was banished for nearly 10 years. In those year she did explore the forstest that was around her, for the lost part, but the elven blood that ran through her veins was craving more excitement. She needed to travel and see places, to learn, to get into trouble. So about a week ago she had decided that, that's exactly what she was going to do. She was going to travel and see what she could find.

With a map that she had traded off of a human that was in a near by settlement, she had plotted her course. She had decided that she was going to travel south east and cross a river where there was an old bridge and what looked to be some sort of old settlement on the map. Though, she couldn't be sure until she got there. Some of the human maps were unreliable. But all the same, that was the main direction she had wanted to go in.

Before she had left she packed some food supplies she had planned to use during this coming winter. Mainly dried fruits, berries, and meat with some nuts thrown in. She was not going to touch these supplies until she had to though, since she could gather and eat as she went, and because these would last much longer than anything she saved on the way. So with those supplies a water skin and her bow and arrows she had started out on her journey.

The traveling had been good going for the most part. She knew her way through the woods and had no issues navigating through the thick trees and brush. The only time she had issues was when a thunder storm had rolled in out of no where and had made her take shelter in a Wayward Pine. Then after the storm had finally past and she had started once again on her journey after a few minutes she was soaked to the bone from brushing up on leaves and and bushes that were still covered with rain. She had to make several stops to dry her clothes over a fire but that gave her time to make a decent meal.

She was definitely relieved when she broke the wooded barrier and came out among sun shine. She saw the river in front of her that the bridge went over but did not see the bridge yet. Munching on some squirrel she had cooked over the fire she turned eastward to follow the river to the bridge. After about 20 minutes of walking she stopped. She saw the bridge alright, but she also saw what was on the bridge and what was in front of it.

A man was standing on the ground in front of this Giant Green Monster. Kali had not seen that kind of beast before so she had no name to put to it. She saw the man take a step back and draw a sword. Not sure if the man was planning on running or facing the beast Kali took her bow off her back and Knocked an arrow so that she could be prepared in either case. She had a feeling that even if this man did want to run, they would not make it far until the beast got them.
