The World ~
Dondar, the King of the Elves, is twenty years dead. The Elven lands have fallen to the corruption of a dark sorcerer and his minions, and those who escaped his enslaving will, find themselves trapped in the hard and cruel kingdoms of men, where they are seen as thieves, tricksters, and unwanted vermin.
Forced to live as outsiders, some living in squalid ghettos and finding poor work as laborers and servants, others living as nomads in wagons that serve as both their transport and home, the remnants of the Elven clans dream of a day when they will have a homeland of their own. Some dream of returning to the fallen homelands and driving out the sorcerer, others wonder if a new homeland may exist beyond the realm of men.
Now, word has come from the distant north that Andar, the exiled Prince long thought to dead, is alive and he has founded a new land for the survivors of the Elven holocaust.
Those who are bold and able to undertake the journey, will find the road a difficult one. Wolves and other less savory creatures stalk the great forest of pines, highwaymen and bandit tribes patrol the roads, trolls and goblins infest the hills that rise to meet the Grimrock Mountains, and beyond the mountains lies a land no one has entered save for the followers of Prince Andar.
The Elves~
Elves are creatures of the earth, deeply connected to nature. There are very few among their dwindling numbers who can still sense and commune with the lifeforce of plants, water, and animals who have not been touched by the taint of sorcery. They are diminutive, compared with the race of men, the tallest among them only standing 5 feet in height, because of this, men believe they are sneak thieves and pickpockets.
Each elf family is bound to one of the five ancient clans.
Elweth - Clan of the white mountain: Elves of clan Elweth are fair skinned and their hair is most often the color of straw or bright red. They are known for their surefootedness on difficult terrain as they made their dwelling in the foothills of the holy white mountain.
Carda - Clan of the emerald plain: Elves of clan Carda are dark of hair and eye and ruddy of complexion. proud and fiercely independent. They made their living in the homeland by herding the wild plains elk, a beast that provided hide, milk, meat, and was strong enough to draw elven wagons. Those who escaped the holocaust managed to bring many of their herd animals into the kingdom of men, though they were met with resistance from human herdsmen who did not want to share grazing land.
Nymren - Clan of the riverlands: Like the Elves of clan Carda, the Nymren are dark of hair and face, though they tend to be shorter and more slender and fair of face. They are skilled at water craft, fishermen and boatmakers, and they have a great knowledge of herbs and roots that can be used for medicine.
Lothan - Clan of the grey wood: While many of the Elven clans intermingle and share knowledge and resources, in the days before the holocaust the forest dwelling clan Lothan was secretive and protective of their borders. Only when the sorcerer burned down the grey wood, did Lothan survivors flee with their elven brethren into the kingdom of men. Lothan Elves are red or brown of hair and often darker of skin than their brethren. They are unmatched in woodcraft and marksmanship.
Adari - Clan of the starlight spring: Elves of clan Adari are the proudest of all Elves. They are believed to be the oldest clan and King Dondar was the last in a long line of Adarian high kings. They are brown or black of hair and pale of complexion. A very small few still boast skills in starlight magic, but their powers of foresight and divination have grown weak compared to the elder days.
In the days following the holocaust and the flight from their homeland, the Elves have united into small communities, with only a few precious relics of their homeland held in the hopes of one day rebuilding the clans. It is common for clan members to intermarry, with the females taking on the clan allegiance of their husband.
The Game~
We will take on the role of a small caravan of Elf families, making their way north along a dangerous rode to eventually cross the grimrock mountains and hopefully find a new homeland and a chance to rebuild what has been taken from us. Each player may play as a single Elf individual or take on the role of their whole family unit. (Thing of this as high fantasy Oregon trail)
The road will present many challenges and also opportunities for rest and conversation between the members of the caravan. Everyone is welcome to insert danger and setbacks for the group to react to and it is possible that many of us will not make it all the way to the new homeland. Danger can come from threats without, or, if people get creative, threats within.
Feel free to add internal intrigue, treachery, even romance! This is going to be a long trip!

Brief Bio: Aden was the son of a clan Carda elk herder who died defending the plains from the armies of the sorcerer. Arden was only 12 at the time and he and his mother and infant sister escaped with a caravan of refugees. A few years later, his mother and sister both died of red fever in an ill kept Elven district of the human city of Tarth, leaving Aden alone before his twentieth birthday. He left Tarth and made his living in the counrtyside as a trapper and hide trader, although many human merchants accused him of theft or other underhanded dealings. Before long he began to ply his trade as a guide for Elven wagon families as they made their way from settlement to settlement. It was during one of these trips that he met and fell in love with Demri, a healer and midwife from clan Nymren. After their wedding ceremony, the pair decided they would brave the road north to the new homeland. Although he had no desire to be a leader on the expedition, Aden was quickly elected to captain the caravan due to his experience with trailfinding.
Skills: Trapping, skinning, woodcraft and trail finding, he has moderate skill with a bow at short distances, and he has some combat skill with a knife.

Brief Bio: Demri was sent away from the riverlands with her grandmother, a herbalist and midwife in their village when her parents learned that the sorcerers armies were moving towards them from the south. She was very young and in the years that followed, she found she remembered little of her time in the riverlands. In the human kingdoms, her grandmother joined with a traveling family of wagon Elves and served as a resident healer and midwife, training Demri in the old ways. Demri took to the work naturally and bore more and more of the responsibility as her grandmother's fingers lost their skill. The first time she delivered a baby for an Elven mother in the back of a wagon, she was only fifteen years old. After her grandmother passed, Demri moved from wagon village to wagon village, serving her fellow elves where she could and even providing service to some open minded humans. She met Aden when the two of them were traveling with the same wagon train and they were married before that fall.
Skills: Herbalism and a faint touch of healing magic, midwifery.

Character Ideas~
If you are interested in participating, here are some optional ideas for the types of characters you could play:
1. A young elf farmer or hunter or worker with a pregnant wife. Their baby will arrive soon and they don't want to raise the child in a squalid ghetto or a wagon village. They hope to make it to the new homeland before the baby arrives though they know they may not make it in time.
2. A teenage brother and sister hoping to meet with their parents who they believe may have escaped the sorcerer and made their way north with Prince Andar. (Maybe there is a young elf girl or boy on the journey that will catch their eye)
3. An old elf soldier who knows he may not make it to the new homeland, but he wants to help defend the caravan as it makes its way north.
4. An elf thief joining the caravan to escape the human law enforcers who are trying to hunt him down.
5. A member of a once powerful Elven house hoping to reclaim their glory in a new land, their wagon may be laden with whatever riches they have been able to keep since their escape from Elven lands.
