This is going to basically be set in the same setting as Avatar: The Last Airbender, though this rp is going to allow a few extra 'elements'. However, I am inclined to warn you that there will be references to both shows, The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Korra, throughout almost everything.
This world is definitely far from modern; here, most vehicles are powered by some form of animal, and those that are automatic are only available in two cities. The animals here are usually hybrids of animals in our on society; Ex. polar bear-dog, red panda-ferret, etc. Though most of you will most likely want to be elementalists, you are allowed to be non-benders, who make up about one third of the population. You have to choice to be and come from anywhere you wish, live any lifestyle, and to be a member of this realm. However, there will be obstacles and enemies in your path, including a man who wishes to end bending everywhere.

- This realm was claimed by the first fire-bender: Ozai. This land is one of fighting and defense; the people here take pride in protecting their land from invaders, and find that the more power someone has, the higher up in the economy they seem to go. People here aren't always stone-hearted, but most strong and independent, able to take care of themselves. Shaif includes one of the two cities that have automobiles.
A Fire Elementalist would have a very concentrated array of abilities, meaning that their powers are very straightforward and controlled. Simply put, they are able to manipulate fire and create it from practically nothing. Some masters can set distant objects on fire just by concentrating their power on the said object, though, not everyone is a master, so not everyone will be allowed to have this ability. - Tenzin and Katara, an Air Elementalist and Water Elementalist, discovered this land together. On the map, this area is divided in blue and tan; the blue area is for Water Elements, and the tan area is for those of Air. The two countries have always been close, being the two most passive countries (and not to mention their Elements are quite close as well). Water Elementists are calm, collected people, though considered organized and intelligent. They're strategic people, often avoiding conflict but knowing when it is needed. Their sister element, those of Air, are quite similar. They, too, are calm and often quiet people. They believe in meditation and creation, with most trying to avoid any conflict at all costs. The Air Country, the half named An, is known for their history of practically no wars at all. Both An and Dufein, the Water Country, decided to join names as one fully functional country, and a safe-haven where Elementalist of all elements are welcome.
A Water Elementalist's powers are quite straightforward just as a Fire's; they control all water/liquids. This includes manipulating drinks, creating and melting ice, manipulating water to create a 'water whip', manipulating rain, etc.
Air Elementalists are able to create and enhance wind speeds to deathly rates, hover on an 'orb' of wind, glide, and use their abilities to help them survive practically any fall. Of course, an Air's powers are not limited to these; use your imagination! - A land discovered by none other than the explorer Iridessa. She claimed the lands for the Light Elementalists, people who can manipulate light and all things that shine. These people are (pun) bright, often cheery and homely people. They enjoy
(WIP) - These people are the only ones who can use magic. Dark magic, however. Eliza was the one who discovered all magic in the first place, though was banished to the Isles after converting to Dark Magic. After her reign was over, the Isles were able to recover from her dark powers, though some people still claim those of Dark Elements to be 'evil'. This is untrue, for although the people are mysterious, powerful, and (pun) dark, they are not necessarily 'evil'... unless that just happens to be their personality.
A Dark Elementalist controls shadow magic, though bends it like a water elemental. Taking shadows from the ground and bending it around them as if it were black water, or ink. They have all the abilities of a Water Elementalists, but they bend shadows. - This area is everything right of It Incloxy, including what is labeled as 'No Man's Land'. The tan area is now called Bei Fong, an empire of Earth Elementals. The Green Area, Central Kingdom, is for those who have the ability to manipulate plants. The two countries were discovered separately, but have always been good allies, as their elements are extremely similar. Earth Elementalists are strong, independent people; they hold back emotions and fight for what is right, often trying to protect all. Plant Elementalists are similar, with strong, bold personalities, though they aren't as willing to dive into fights, they are skilled in battle techniques.
An Earth Elementalist can, simply put, control earth. Dirt, sand, mud... it is easily manipulated into walls and chunks of land.
A plant Elementalist can, also simply, control plant-life. They can speed up the time it takes for something to bloom, or make an enormous spiked stalk sprout from the ground. - (WIP)
- If you've read these this far, the password is "Avatar Aang".
The Forbidden Lands aren't exactly 'forbidden'. These lands aren't inhabited by anyone in particular, and is mostly considered an area meant for the animals of the world. It's a place for tribes, people who believe in different cultures (like Indians almost), as they spiritually 'link' themselves with the lands around them.
If you choose to be from a tribe, which you can, you don't have any actual 'powers'. You are more spiritually linked with the world, and are able to befriend almost any animal... if you want, maybe I can allow you to speak to a certain species..?
