The Doghouse

Max laughed a bit when Fritters talked about Flower-power. "Nah.. just suspected she was there since you came back in here alone. And also, I should give her the piece of steak I cut for her." As the pup asked him if he had the hots for Camille, he froze and his cheeks turned pink. "nooooooooot really. Anyways, I should probably go and give her the steak now. Bye!" Max finished the last part really fast and ran out the door with the steak towards the 'tree'. "Camille! I have food for you!"

Camille heard a voice and slightly opened the hatch. "Slide it down!" "Okay!" Was the reply, and Max slowly pushed the steak down, but before the whole thing was in, he pulled it back out. "Wait a second!" He told Camille, then trimmed the steak into a heart. "Okay." He then said, and slid the steak down there. "Thanks Max." Camille smiled and closed the hatch, eating the steak with love.

Rose woke with a start and tried to stand up. A sharp pain burned across her shoulder looking down she saw a t-shirt loosely tied to her shoulder. It wasn't helping her shoulder at all and it was covered in dirt it was a sorry excuse for a bandage. Rose paused and tried to remember where she was. THe last thing she remembered was winning the match and being pulled out of the rink. Someone had shoved her into a cage with this bandage on her shoulder. After that her memory is blank. ROse sighed and scanned her surroundings in the distance she can see the glow of a house. Rose unleashed a loud howl in hopes that someone hears her.

"Ow!" Max growled as a high pitched howl reached his ears. He runs inside to see that the other pups have thier paws on thier ears. "Do you hear that?" Goes back outside to see a cage on a top of a hill. "Guys! I think its coming from there!" Max barks back.

Rose stopped howling for a moment and sniffed the air. She smelled the dogs in the house. Rose released three sharp barks because she knew her howl could get annoying. It was dark outside and it was beginning to get chilly and she hoped they got here soon.

Max heard the 3 sharp barks and turned towards the others. "She needs help! We have to help her!" He told them, then ran to the tree. "Camille! We need your help!" "WIth what?" She asked him. "Trapped dog on the hill." The hatch opened and Camille scurried out. "C'mon! Lets help!" She said and lept the fence, running towards the dog. Max followed her. As they reached the cage, they stepped back a little. "We're here to save you!" Said Max

Rose turned around and saw three or four dogs racing up the hill. She tensed but knew they were most likely here to help not to try and harm. As they got closer one said they were here to help. Rose nodded numbly.

"How do you open this thing?" growled Max, frustrated. Camille rolled her eyes and flicked a pushed a switch to the right, then stepped back. The door didn't swing open. "Oh. I see the problem." She said, then lifted the door. IT swung open and the pups stepped back, afraid that the other pup might attack them.

Rose limped out of the cage cautiously. Her head and tail was low in submission. She needed help right now and she did not want them to see her as a threat. She knew she probably looked really scary with her bloody shoulder and half her right ear missing but she could not really help that.

Rose nodded, "The name is Rose. The wound on my shoulder is from a dog fight and I think the reason I'm here is because owner did not want to deal with a vet." she said shivering. It was hard for her to put weight on her right leg so she lifted it.

Miki exited the house and found her friends surrounding a wounded pup. She rushed toward theme, her eyes widening as she said loudly, "What the heck happened to you? Are you alright? Whats your name?" Miki found herself shutting up once she saw the other dogs faces. "Right," she mumbled. She looked at the dog in front of her. "I'm Miki. Whats your name?"

Rose sighed and looked over the dogs shoulders. How many times was she going to have to repeat her story before they got her some help. Instead of saying that she forced a smile and replied to Miki. "My name is Rose and I used to be a fighting dog," she barked wobbling a little on her three paws.

"Cool," Miki muttered before noticing Rose's wobbling. "You okay though? Need any help?"

Rose felt a rain drop plop onto her head and slowly roll into her. She shook her head which she realized immeaditly was a bad idea. Her head began to throb oncontrollablely for three or four seconds. When she looked up she realized Miki had said something and was obviously expecting an answer. Instead of asking her to repeat it Rose just said,"I'm fine," and hoped it answered the question.

Max looked at Miki. "C'mon. Since we're both strong, lets help her to the house." He walks close to Rose and stands on one side of her while Miki stands on the other. "Okay Rose. You are going to walk and if you start to fall, Miki and I will help you." He smiles.

Rose nodded and took a few wobbly steps her shoulder throbbing. She gritted her teeth and kept going determined to get their without help. She needed to prove that she wasn't a weak little whiner.

As the pups reached the fence, Max looked uneasy. "Oh! I have an idea!" He said, then started to dig under the fence. Camille rolled her eyes and sighed. "Or.. You can use the door." The pup walked over to a doggie door in the gate and went through it. Max shrugged. "Ok."

Rose relaxed as they got closer to the house. She wobbled through the doggy door hap-hazardly. The rain was really coming down huge drops landed on her back than rolled off her coat.

"Oh! Rain!" Camille growled and ran inside before she could get hit by a rain drop. "Sorry about my sister." Max said once he entered the lawn. "Her name's Camille. She a pre-Madonna." He laughed at his joke then helped Rose into the house, making sure she dried her feet. "Well... here's our house. You can sleep there if you want." He said and pointed to a bed over in a corner of the room.

"Thanks," Rose barked stumbling over to the bed in the corner. She laid down and started to remove the T-shirt that was wrapped around her shoulder. It looked so dirty and she worried it might cause an infection.

Max saw that the pup was removing the t-shirt and an idea popped into his head. "Lightbulb!" He said and ran into the kitchen. He soon came back with a piece of cold steak. "Here Rose, you can put this on your wound to cool it, and if your hungry, you can also eat it!" He smiled, somewhat laughing at his joke. "Thats a pretty good idea." Camille told him.

Rose nodded thankfully and placed the steak over her wound. She sniffed the meat and took a few cautious bites because she knew if she ate to fast she would be sick. She curled up as best she could and closed her eyes. She knew exactly what she looked like because she had seen other dogs exactly like her. She looked like a heap of sticks with a torn up dog pelt thrown over it.

Miki looked at Camille and Max. "How long do you think it'll be before she recovers?" She asked worriedly. Her tail lowered as she turned her head to a sleeping Rose.
