I think it's time we introduced/arranged Jocelyn's future husband. Any takers? :horns: /

I also think a nice young gentleman is needed for Elena. Perhaps in his mid-late teens?

I would but I find it difficult to do multiple characters in detailed rps:((

And yesssss omg. She’d be astounded that anyone would take an interest in her lmao. Can only hope he’s a prince in another kingdom or something so she can show off to Christopher lmao.

Will have something up later this morning! it’s 4 am rn. RPN took a shit when I was trying to reply and nothing got saved :( by the time it was working I was already asleep!

Right now, I keep getting this feeling that Maxwell is going to become some sort of serial flirt, woo-ing everyone and spreading himself around the palace. Well, he is a lover, not a hater. :P

Yeah, haha. We're just at the start of the King's birthday party, so that's as good a time as ever for Zach to show up.

It's late and I'm pressed for time, so can't recap right now. :(

age:
21

gender:
m

appearance:
dark, dirty blonde hair with pronounced facial features. deep, murky green eyes with hints of blue, chiseled chest and jaw, lean and decently muscled with a height standing around 6'1. often dresses quite simply, with a wrinkled white dress shirt and black dress pants, thick hair in a disarray, cigarette in hand wherever he goes, accompanied by a black dress suit slung over his lean shoulders. when the occasional special event or two come, zachariah is obliged to tame his unruly curled hair into more princely terms.

role:
closest friend of the eldest Prince ; powerful ally ; unofficial 'advisor'

skills:
zachariah is very adept when it comes to wooing the hearts of ladies, and when he wants to be, he can be quite devilishly charming. he is an expert at knife throwing, and always has one (or three) hiding beneath the folds of his shirt. he is decent in his swordplay, though none could match the skill his good friend Christopher possessed. zachariah is blessed with a sharp memory and ability to fire back verbally when needed. he is skillful in being sly and suave, yet at the same time, is able to be just as boisterous and rowdy as the drunkards in the local tavern classes below him. he is bilingual, able to speak both french and english because of his french roots.
the most dangerous thing about this man is that he is able to put on two faces. A double-sided coin, a double-edged sword that can fool a fool into believing him to be a friend, when really, he's the enemy.

personality:
zachariah is a complicated character. his motives are anything but guessable. he's always three steps ahead and you never know what moves he might make next. though he seems like a dolt only born to fuck around in town, wasting his fortune away, he is more than what his reputation makes him up to be. cunning and sly, zachariah handles his position very well---his influence is powerful in the Court, especially when it comes to the eldest Prince, despite his youth and supposed idiocy and promiscuity that is so often rumored and gossiped around court and castle. zachariah does not mind the 'fool' the Court paints him out to be because that meant he was underestimated. zachariah of all people knew that underestimation was deadly, especially in the malicious game of politics. he does nothing more than use it to his advantage. he's a prick most of the time, not gonna lie, and arrogant as well.

zachariah is also damaged. his backstory is one not to be proud of, nor is it worthy of praises. his past is a glass broken in pieces, and as a result, so is he. the cigarettes he carries are a way of escape---so are the drinks and the women, even politics serves as a distraction for him. these are the similarities he shares with his close friend Christopher, the eldest prince, who had his own fair share of life's tragedies. he is peter pan at times, simply because he wasn't allowed the time to properly grow up.
zachariah has this cold exterior for a reason---to hide the wounds of his past. i couldn't tell you what he truly was because he himself does not know---he's been holding up this hardened exterior for so long, it became a part of him. and though it may seem these are all but negative traits, zachariah does indeed have some positive ones. for example, zachariah is headstrong and determined, in the things he wants, loyal to a fault to his one and only closest friend, the eldest Prince, clever and witty at times and a grin that makes you immediately swoon and trust him for no reason.
and though it may be a cliché. it has a ring of truth: only someone truly special can break the wall this man has so carefully built around himself.

history:
zachariah's family was powerful. there was no doubt about it.

the family possessed more lands than the stars and were the second most powerful, after the King and Queen of course. the two families were incredibly close---zachariah's father and the King had been close friends in their younger years and their bond had stood the test of time. zachariah was the only child, destined to inherit a vast empire alongisde the Royal Family.

and for a time, zachariah's life had been sweet, raised in the lap of luxury. but even as a child, one could tell the striking difference between zachariah and the other high-born children. the boy had an innate rebel streak, a tendency to disobey, to oppose the traditions and seek his own path. he was a hooligan---a trickster, a jester, often driving his tutors and nannies mad. he despised the stuffy, tight outfits and pinched shoes, hated attending his tutors' sessions, hated being confined for so long. he was a free spirit, and spent as much time as he could outside.
he would often gaze out the window, watching the street children play off in the distance---zachariah did not mind the scruffy, dirty appearances of those common children; he was envious of them because they had something he thought he lacked.
the freedom to make his own choices.
it didn't take long until his parents shockingly found their little duke scurrying in the dusts of a dirt road, playing ball with the other village children, his fine clothing and appearance a stark contrast to the immediate environment around him, already streaked with dirt and mud. his parents were shocked and indignant. they swept and took the boy away, and that was the last time he'd ever be allowed to go beyond his castle's walls.
of course, he only a child then. the poor boy was lonely---despite having a loving father and mother, he was in desperate need of a friend.
in came christopher.

the eldest Prince of the King and Queen was three years his senior. the first time they met, it was at a royal ball, celebrating the Prince's turning of thirteen, the beginning of adolescence. it didn't take long until both boys were sneaking around the ballroom, pulling little pranks, thieving away at the dessert tables and committing overall mischief. it was the beginning of a bond that they would cherish in the coming years.

yet in the coming years, all was not well. the prince, now an adolescent, was being pressured more and more, his father incessantly pushing harder and harder for his son to become the fearless and powerful king that the King desired. it was a cruel time---and when it became unbearable, the prince turned to zachariah for comfort and peace. often, the prince would take sanctuary in the dwelling of his friend. that way, their friendship grew stronger---you could almost call them brothers.

alas, not only would there be tragedy for the prince, there would be tragedy for the young duke as well. at the young age of twelve, zachariah's father died of tuberculosis, fighting a long hard battle before he lost in the dead of night. this loss was a hard hit to zachariah, especially at such a young age---he and his father had been relatively close; the man had taught zachariah the art of knife throwing, of horseback riding, of swordsmanship and his son mourned for weeks, months. the death had almost changed him completely.

his mother however, seemed to be not the same. Just months after her husband's death, she remarried to a cruel, harsh man whose only intent was to have his children (zachariah's new half siblings) inherit the massive fortune zachariah's father had in store for his son. the man cut ties with the Royal Family, cutting the funds and the land agreements that they had, meaning zachariah and christopher met no more. and so, not only was zachariah robbed of a father, he was robbed of a friend and was about to be robbed of what should be rightfully his.

here was what became a family rivalry---zachariah against his new stepfather. the man took liberty to beat zachariah, to be harsher and crueler to him than he was to the other children. zachariah was constantly outcast, singled out, alone and abused for much of his later childhood. the stepfather was adamant that his eldest son, Robert, who was about two years older than zachariah, be given the fortune by birthright, even when the will had deemed the possessions go to zachariah. the constant debate between family members took a toll on zachariah.

to escape the harsh realities of home, zachariah began to smoke and drink, sneaking off in the middle of the night to go into town disguised, seeking for distractions. he soon became a regular at the local taverns and brothels, making friends and enemies and maybe both at the same time. he became a mischiefmaker, recalling his childhood antics. zachariah cared little for the damage it would make to his reputation or to the reputation of his family.
his only thought?
fuck it.

zachariah still had christopher though. even with the endless growing list of new princely duties and responsibilities preparing the young man for Kingship, the two managed to stay close. the young prince knew of his friend's troubles, with father and fortune, just like he had with his old man. these similarities kept them close through difficult times. he also knew of his friend's scandalous habits, and though he severely disapproved it, he also knew it was zachariah's way of coping. but was it the right way of coping?

in came zachariah's eighteenth birthday. and despite the passionate opposition spawned by his stepfather, zachariah earned his fortune and power. the backlash was fierce. after all the scandals and rumour of zachariah's trip to town and his infamous behaviour, one couldn't trust a rebellious rascal to handle all that power and money. it had to be given to someone responsible and even-minded. his stepfather was baying for his blood. zachariah was facing a controversy and possibly a death sentence that even he could not handle. he needed help.

so, he turned to the only person he could truly trust.
christopher.

the eldest Prince, now a young man of twenty-one, gave zachariah what he needed, remembering the young duke's benevolence in their early years.
protection.
protection from his stepfather, from his family, from the Court, even from the King, who was becoming frailer and weaker as the days go by. and in return, zachariah, displaying a remarkable brilliance for financing and politics, managed to rebuild those financial ties between the Ravenswoods and the Kings, setting in land agreements and funds that would benefit them both greatly, making the rich richer and the poor poorer. zachariah also developed a sizable influence in Court thanks to christopher, displaying his cruelty in the participation of the torture and executions of criminals. he himself plans to humiliate and execute his stepfather, in a very public manner, as a show of revenge and power to those who doubt him.

in the end, this tumultuous past of his has turned zachariah into the man he is now.
a young boy who was never given the chance to grow up, a cruel and powerful duke with a brilliance astounding many, a charming, witty, rebellious rascal willing to take risks and lives for adventure, and finally, a mighty ally and surprisingly loyal friend to the eldest Prince and to the kingdom.

extra:

relationships/opinions zachariah has of others

christopher mathias ravenswood ( Misty Gray Misty Gray ) : zachariah and christopher have been close ever since zachariah had been a young boy of ten and christopher a budding adolescent of thirteen. As the years went by, christopher's parents' expectations were unbearably cruel, and the poor prince was getting punished for every little fault. when it was too much, he would often seek refuge in the stately home of zachariah, taking comfort in the younger boy's friendship and generosity, something his own home lacked very often. they grew an inseparable bond, and as they grew into young men, both powerhouses in their own respect, they became partners in crime---christopher, not forgetting his friend's unending kindness, returned that favor by giving zachariah the protection he would need against his family, who want to see him hang for bringing such dishonor and shame to the family name because of his unruly behaviour, and against the Court, who severely dislike him, seeing the clever but cruel way he handles his power.
zachariah pays back to christopher by giving the eldest Prince unending financial support thanks to his immense fortune, a loyal political and powerful ally, as well as an 'unofficial' advisor.

elena katrina ravenswood ( ElectricDandellion ElectricDandellion ) : zachariah knows elena's sharp tongue and enjoys testing her temper, seeing how much of a wild one she really is. you could call it flirtation or just call it what it is; a good ol' folly aimed at amusing the powerful Duke.

king robert james ravenswood the second ( Misty Gray Misty Gray ) : the king is weary of zachariah, knowing the boy's tendencies, but he also knows the boy is an extremely powerful ally, and if all comes to war, the kingdom would need the boy's help.

alexander rotinya krow ( Angelofwishes7 Angelofwishes7 ) : zachariah tolerates the man, knowing full of the sacrifices he took to protect the royal family.

rosalind gwyneth langston ( Bellz Bellz ) : to be truthful, zachariah is weary of her. betrothed to the eldest Prince, she is his future wife and possibly a future influence as well. zachariah is adamant that she not exceed his level of power and influence.

arabella mccallister (@Emotional Enigma) : zachariah knows her task as an advisor to the eldest Prince, and keeps a careful eye on her even though in his eyes, she is more of a servant than anything else.

queen krista mareina ravensood (@Melanin-Gxdess) : these two seem to be at odds with each other. being a mother, krista knows well when she sees a man not fully grown up, damaged more than anything else---a dangerous combination indeed, especially when it comes to his power in politics.

jocelyn luna ravenswood (@Melanin-Gxdess): she's seemingly as cold as zachariah is, and that's what he likes about her. but alas, the eldest princess cares little for men.

maxwell tanner ( Misty Gray Misty Gray ): a lowly servant who mercifully knows his place.

margaret helena ravenswood ( Bellz Bellz ): a quiet one. zachariah has once tried his flirtatious tricks on her when he was very drunk once, but it didn't go very well. though she may be silent, her rejection was indeed deafening.

willard 'arm' armstrong (NPC): a hardworking, loyal servant to the Royal Family. zachariah recognizes his work and respects the old man for it.

romeo lance ravenswood (@CocoForRealz) : a peacekeeper. so in zachariah's eyes, not very likely to disturb his plans.

hector damien ravenswood (@Lost) : the two men have never seen eye to eye. prince hector was a man of the people. zachariah? well, he was a man of power. you get the idea.

lady cassandra marie summers ( Misty Gray Misty Gray ): zachariah knew her well enough---she was, after all, the daughter of the Duke of Cambridge, who had once been a very close friend of zachariah's father before he died. a sharp-tongued woman as well---a bold trait, but should it go any farther than a snapping word or two, it wouldn't end well for her.

morgana s. vangala (@s u n) : a rather unpleasant woman by nature, at least by zachariah's view. loud and inconsiderate, arguing way too much for a woman whose sole purpose is to care for the siblings. zachariah had her warned for her behavior more than a few times---a sign for her to control her temper or else.

alexandrine williams ( Ms. Sparrow Ms. Sparrow ): zachariah knows of alexandrine well---daughter to a fallen noble, executed for treason against the Crown. she fascinates him---a high-born living the life of a servant. she is nonetheless a temperamental woman, with an admirable feistiness and boldness most wouldn't dare show.
