Futuristic The Desire System

I was hoping to get all of the roles filled before starting. I suppose we could make a start now, but that may not be a good idea because people are even less likely to join a running RP.

I think we have about 5 people, you might want to quickly post to see who is still interested, but we should have enough for a reasonable role play. The amount of characters you want might be slightly difficult to keep up with if we do get that many.

As it's forth of July I will post two characters tomorrow, the first will be a hunter the second will be a defender. If @Jaw Breaker posts a hunter I would like it if they get the spot before me, If they do not, I would prefer my Hunter character to be accepted. I am deeply enthusiastic about this roleplay, is it inspired by anything in particular?

Some little details here and there, such as the character sheet skeleton and the apocalyptic world war, were borrowed from another RP, No Paradise For Gods, but the core idea is completely original. I just thought of the name, then based everything else around that.

It reminds a little of The Giver, or another book who's name escapes me at the moment. I am also at a loss for words on how to describe the story (Which does not happen often.) most likely because I read the book in my childhood. I also sense a very dramatic roleplay in the works here.

Now I am going to go have a fire, watch fireworks, and finish "The Girl Who Player With Fire". Have a good night, I'll be back tomorrow to post those characters.

@TheJipan I just got a call this morning, I now have a new employer. I work night shift and I'm worried about dedicating myself to any role plays before adjusting to my new schedule. I am sorry.

Congratulations on the new job! (I think).

That's fine. Life comes first, right? Please feel free to come and join in once you've adjusted!

I would but I don't know where exactly we're starting? Are we just getting told our jobs? If so what form are we told them in, does it just appear on some technology or something else? Do people know that The Unknown exist? Should my character be hugely confused and concerned? I mean he probably won't be because he's not best known for caring a whole lot about much but still, should he be?

Does it just tell you your job or does it also tell you who you should marry, which section to live in, what two desires it actually decided you have? Which of these would the unknown be told? Does he still get a partner? Does he still get told where to live or does he just stay where he is because it's confused? Does he just never get the information given to him? Aka if it was in email (it may not be) does everyone else just get an email at the right age and he never gets one?

I can't actually find this information anywhere and I just realised since of my other questions are dependent on it. Are you told from birth your job and who you will marry and everything or are you told at a certain age or is it different for everyone or what?

(Sorry, I fell asleep)

It turns out I managed to hide the tab in the Overview that would answer those questions.

No one would receive any 'commands' on where to go until they have an appropriate desire. As long as the unknown does not have a desire that can be placed in the system, they won't receive any instructions.

As for where we start off... you can start off wherever you like really. Being the unknown, and because of the age your character is, they would either still be living with their parents, or they would be 'on the run'. You can take your pick and start off from there.

So what sort of age would be average for getting instructions on where to go/ what to do? Is my character at the sort of age where it's odd not to know yet or is it pretty much fine?

Well... The system controls everything from the beginning, because it chooses which school you go to... I suppose not everyone would have a distinguished set of desires by then, though, so there would probably be a general school that they would get sent too...

Things would start to get noticeable after leaving that school, which would probably go up until the end of high school by American standards, or the end of college by English standards. Does that help you?
