Keegan had been sitting silently on his bed for some time. He had no idea of what to do. Nothing like this had ever happened before, to him or anyone else before yesterday, as far as he knew. He was turning into some creature from Shirana's homeworld. There was nothing he, or she, could do about it. What would happen to him once he had completely turned into the creature? Would he then finally die, as those infected by the virus were supposed to? Or would he continue living as some strange creature? After some time, he decided to read, picking up the book that lay on his bedside table to read.
The sound of a car pulling up outside the house drew his mind back to the real world. While he had previously thought that the character in the book lived an exciting, colourful and unusual life, he suspected his might get even more so... Only when he heard the motor of the garage door start, did he realise what was happening. He jumped up.
"My parents are here!" he said frantically, "What are we going to do? You can hide in the guest room, or somewhere in my room, but they'll look for me. I can't hide this from them." He was panicking, they were going to get out the car and come into the house any second now.
