{The Circus of The Forgotten}

The siren ultimately had not been prepared to be pressed against the wall, facing away from the door. Baxter had trapped her, his hands tight around her wrist, whilst she merely stared like a doe in headlights. The damned demon had caught her of guard, and now she was gazing with a stupid dumbstruck look. The usual threats that sputtered from her mouth had died in her throat, too hesitant to speak when he held her like this. The slightest gasp hitched in the back of her throat as Baxter spoke, his tone evident with varied emotions -- gentle but seductive, a dangerous combination but it made her head reel with a sudden temptation into his offer. The emotions rolled off of the demon in one whole wave, an intoxicating feeling for the siren as it severally eased down the hunger rising in her stomach, nearly quelling it. But then he was inclining his feet back outside her trailer, moments after releasing her, and leaving Jinx trying to level her breath out. She quivered, eyes blearily staring at his retreating form. Suddenly acting on impulse, she plucked the blade up from the counter once more but this time proceeded to chuck the knife with full aiming force for his head, or at least the back of it.

The wolves were well in content once they had noted that Sera would be following their master, rather than leaving them and him to waver in silence. They yipped with delight till they had to be silence with a passing gaze from Nikolai. The werewolf took it upon himself to lead the way to Becca's tent, his footsteps, however, were at a leisure slow pace for the sole sake of having Sera keep up with him. His hands slipped inside the pockets of his coat, eyes tilted slightly to the side to gaze at the moon rising in the sky. "As long as they're not expecting me to go softy on them then sure. Treat with them with affection allllll you want. Just don't feed them too many snacks or somethin'." His shoulders heaved upwards into a shrug, Nikolai weaving around the crowds to get across the circus grounds so they could get to Becca's tent without any complication or interruption. His wolves aided that, as not many dare to draw near the man or angel with the wild canines trailing behind the two.

Baxter spun, raising a hand to catch the blade, thumb pinching the deadly weapon between it and his palm. Of course, he'd be lying if it hadn't cut him slightly, the damn thing being extremely sharp. Though the action just made him grin, feeling it more as a show of affection than a real threat to his life. He also had a reason to go back now, needing to return the blade. He strode quickly and purposefully back to the trailer, hopping the short stairs leading into it. Again, he was only inches from the siren, the blade held up casually. "Nice try, but I am a demon, sweets." he smirked, and slowly lowered the knife onto the nearest counter top. "I always expect a knife to be thrown my way when I deal with you. So I honestly doubt that will ever work, unless you meticulously plan a murder, but then... you'd be thrown from the circus if you did that." he said, his voice dropping back down to it's previous purred, dangerous tone. The blonde honestly, for the life of him, couldn't explain to himself why he was reacting this way, but then again, he honestly didn't care. A free hand lifted, his fingertips easily finding Jinx's arm, brushing them with an almost alluring softness as his hand continued to raise. "Take a bite. I dare you." he purred, a chuckle sliding in under his breath. "You might find you like the taste." he added just as his hand ghosted over her shoulder, fingertips grazing the side of her neck and hovering there for her reaction.

The angel nodded, "Of course. No snacks, and constant reminders not to expect you to be like me." she noted in a slightly playful tone as she kept easy pace with Nikolai and the wolves. "I can do that." she smiled warmly, hands folding in front of her as they walked. Of course she was glad they generally avoided the main populace as they wove their way to Becca's tent, distant comments from small children asking who was the lady with wings, and stating for their parents to look at the pretty puppies. The off comments that floated to Sera's ear made her laugh softly, an almost chiming sound, like bells. Though she quickly stifled the laughter with a short glance to Nikolai, hoping he didn't think she was laughing at him or anything. She cleared her throat, almost nervously raising an arm to brush her hair out of her face. An off mental note to tell herself to tie it back next time. "Thank you, by the way. For walking with me." she said lightly.

Jinx swallowed thickly as, yet again, Baxter took fast and long strides to just to reach her trailer once more. Within a matter of minutes he was before, close, and drawing that similar tone as before. She gulped down a breath and steadied her gaze, willing herself not to be so doe-eyed and scared like before. Though it was certainly a struggle. His words held that same dangerous purr that made her shiver in the slightest, thankfully unnoticeable, way. Abruptly, however, she wrenched his hand away from her neck, she the one to grip at his wrist now, teeth bared in a hiss. "Don't touch me. I will never stoop so extremely low to actually quell my hunger with a demon. Before the hunt begins, after the show is over and everyone has gone home for the night, I'll be allllll better and fed and then you won't have much to taunt me with." She declared with a smirk of her own, amused and proud of her boldness. Jinx had a usual routine on the big opening nights, a reason why must steer clear from her trailer during this time. To keep herself fed and content, she'd seduce at least one man that had stopped by for their show, whether married/in a relationship or not, and indulge in... intimate acts. It perhaps drew out large quantity of emotions from a man from what she figured out, and kept the hunger to a dullness once their feelings had been absorbed. Then she sent them on their merry way. And that's what she planned to transpire in tonight. But certainly not with him. Not Baxter. "Get out. Now. Before I go and report this to the Ring Master myself." She threatened, albeit very serious on the matter.

Nikolai casted his eyes back down to peer at Sera, watching the blonde angel briefly with his own lingering gaze. Then it turned back forward. "You don't have to thank me, really." He admitted, pausing to whistle the wolves away from a dropped crumpled bag of popcorn. Whomever didn't decide to participate in tonight's hunt would have the unfortunate job of picking up and cleaning every surface down on the booths and the seats in the big top tent. The wolves came slinking back, falling into the same padding step beside them like previous before. "I don't have much to do in the mean time besides mull over about what act should be performed tonight. Plus the wolves probably needed a walk of their own. Shake off the excitement y'know?" As they reached the small tent, tucked away near the lining of the forest, his pace came to a slow stop. He gestured with one hand, "I'll let you go now. Take care of that wing, alright? I'll go let Jack know that you're unable to perform tonight's opening."

Baxter's bold smirk faltered with her words, and he drew back quickly with a snarl, something registering behind his usual mischief. Pain? Hurt? The unfamiliar emotions ran rampant through the demon, sparking his anger to a point he actually wanted to hurt something. Which scared him. Beyond her threat of telling the Ring Master what transpired between them. He didn't dare look back at Jinx, for fear he wasn't able to hide these unwarranted feelings, and he turned quickly. "Fine." he snapped angrily, nothing the playful demon from before and practically leaped from trailer. "Have a good one." he added with just as much angry gusto before striding away from the trailer, obviously fuming. Who does she think she is? His thoughts raged, his blood feeling like it was about to boil. Since when was being with a demon, much less him, low? That had certainly hurt his ego, but that was merely a bruise. The utter rejection was something else. He had expected it, at first, but with it so brashly slapped in his face, he didn't know what to make of it. He could feel his demonic power swelling in him, the darkness that was always present, and only kept at bay because of the angel he called a sister. He stormed out of the circus, pausing just long enough to give someone a message for Jack that he needed time to cool off before preforming. Anger wasn't his friend, not if anyone wanted the humans to be safe around him. What scared him even more, was he couldn't explain why he was so angry. He disappeared into the trees, and when he was sure no one could see him, he lashed out at the closest tree. Leaving a permanent imprint of his fist in the form of a new hole in the tree for squirrels to hide nuts in. He let out a loud bellow of frustration, and kept moving. Every few trees, another hole. Yet nothing was seeming to quell his anger. What had been so different about tonight?

Sera hesitated, glancing at the tent that belonged to the nurse, and then to the wolves. To afraid to turn her eyes to the werewolf who stood there as well. "Yeah. Excitement." she said, at first a twinge of hope to her voice, and then it was gone, knowing this was where they would part for the time being. She blushed at his concerned comment of caring for her wing, and finally managed a quick glance up at him, a small smile on her lips. "Yeah. Thanks." she said, unsure of what else to say to him. She fidgeted for a moment, then knelt and gave quick goodbyes to the wolves, gentle strokes to the tops of their heads, and each a peck on the snout before quickly disappearing inside the tent, to embarrassed to say another goodbye. Her insides twisted with butterflies, and she felt more elated than she had in ages. So Nikolai didn't mind her, she had merely pressed a nerve earlier. He didn't hate her. That brought the angel more joy than she'd thought, and her cheeks colored to match. She jumped slightly when Becca stepped to her, asking how she was feeling and what she could do for the angel. At first, Sera was hesitant to say anything, having honestly used this as merely a ruse to continue her time with the werewolf, but he had been kind enough to bring her here, and so, she didn't want to disappoint. "I hurt my wing." she said sheepishly, settling on a small stool so the nurse could examine the minor wound.

Jinx breathed out a sigh of near relief as Baxter backed down, suddenly not the loud, expressing demon that he was. Instead his expression, at least to her own eyes, seemed to sour by her words. Whether for the threat of bringing the Ring Master into his antics so Jack would perhaps cease them all together or her words that pratically popped his bubble on any more teasing about her hunger. The siren casted her eyes to the blade that laid still on the counter, the smallest smear of blood pressed to the metal. So she had managed to at least knick him with her fast throwing aim, an edge of pride blossoming in her chest. She, however, picked up the knife and discarded it into the trash. For several minutes she didn't move, allowing the silence to ease her scattered nerves and settle her mind that raced with numerous thoughts. Why, of all people, did the demon dare choose her to tease? She wasn't anything special, holding none importance. Yet she had been at the center of his jokes and pranks, a constant annoyance in her life. She gathered a breath, held it, then released slowly. She pushed away from the wall and gingerly nudged the flimsy door open, stepping outside and down the few steps. Children's laughter chimed in the air, carousel music twinkling, and carnies working the booths shouted to gather everyone's attention. The sounds were relaxing, and, yet, there was no sign of Baxter. Reluctantly she decided to wound her way back to the big top tent, to prepare herself for her acts and the sight of exciting crowds that would soon fill the stands. It also made her a tad nervous.

Within just a short span of two hours, after all the minimal acts and fun and games dwindled down outside, the big top tent was packed with people. It was loud, everyone's chattering nearly deafening to the siren's ears. Every other carnie had gathered out back, most rushing to prepare, while others hanged back and tried to relax before the show started -- which was extremely soon. That ensued Jack's slight panic. Hell, Jinx hadn't even noticed his presence behind her before he startled her with a quipping question.

"Do you know where Bax is?"

She casted her eyes towards the Ring Master, and suddenly felt like a dejected small child under his stern gaze. Her head bobbed to side to side in a shaking motion. Though she didn't dare utter a word.

"Jack," Nikolai addressed, having not been far from the conversing supernaturals, "I can take my wolves out and go search for him if you wish."

"Please. I had hoped he'd be around here... Sera is unable to perform the opening tonight. I was thinking he'd take up on the offer." Jack mused, as he slid his hand through his dark shaded hair. Now that certainly sparked some envy within Jinx. Why
him? Of all people, why would he get offered to open up the show? Why not her? The envy grew in her chest, blossoming quite painfully. Though she smiled through it, "If he can't make it in time I'd be willing to perform. Put on one of my dance numbers or something."

Jack acknowledged her with the briefest of glances. "Perhaps. You might as well if we're unable to seek him out in time. Although I hope Niko can find the poor bastard." The werewolf had slipped out moments ago with his wolves slinking behind on trail to conduct his brief search.

Sera slid into the large crowd of carnies, smiling and wishing everyone good luck as usual. Her nerves had calmed, and it seemed her short time with Nikolai had seemed to have been the balm. Of course, it had been apparent that her lack of starting to show hadn't quite gotten around, so there were a few times she had to stop and make a brief explanation. She spotted Jack, talking with Jinx and Nikolai. Then the werewolf slipped away with the wolves in tow, and she cocked her head to the side in curious question. Where could he be running off to just before the show started? She made her way over quickly, giving a small, apologetic smile to Jack. "Sorry again, Jack... my nerves were hot wired earlier. I didn't mean to get injured." she said softly, and glanced around, not spotting her brother. She felt her small smile falter slightly, but she pushed it from her mind. Perhaps he was already getting ready? She looked at Jinx, "Good luck, Jinx. The dress on you is gorgeous by the way. How do you like it?" she asked lightly.

Meanwhile, Baxter had finally backtracked somewhat, sulking just inside the treeline. He knew he should go in there and get ready for his performance, but he still wasn't quite sure if he was safe enough yet. An anger still burned in his stomach, one he couldn't explain, and he growled softly at himself. "The hell is wrong with me?" he snapped, huffing at himself as he leaned against a tree. His gaze was on the big tent, knowing it was getting close to opening and the show beginning, and yet there was no pull for him to go and play the monkey for the humans who came to watch. A figure, followed by three smaller figures, caught his attention near the edge of the encampment and the demon assumed Jack had sent someone looking for him. He sighed, and started moving, figuring he meet Nikolai halfway. His face was still dark, twisted with his previous rage, but it was calming slowly. The rage mostly still burning in his eyes rather than actually showing on any other of his features. When Nikolai and the wolves drew close enough to hear him, he called out. "Hey. What's the search party for?" he asked, attempting for force his voice to be nonchalant, though the undertones weren't what he wanted.

Jack casted his eyes over to the blonde as she approached, Jinx balancing the faintest of smiles on her mouth to merely be nice at this moment. And not give way that she may or may not be the reason why her "brother" slipped off into the night. Not exactly the best thing to say when the Ring Master was pratically wringing his hands with worry over it.

"It's no worries, Sera." Jack chided assuringly to the angel, proposing a gentle smile to his countenance. "I'd rather have you sit out then put any more strain on your injured wing. Just rest for tonight, take it as a break for now. A little time off can always relax your nerves." He casted a briefest glance around as his name was called back amongst the other carnies, "Well that's my cue to leave you two alone. I have other business to attend to before I go on. And Jinx, if Bax doesn't show up... I give you permission to perform."

Jinx managed an acknowledging nod at his words before he slipped off into the crowds. She peered at Sera with a sheepish smile... and rather than jumping to the subject of her brother, she clung to the question that she was prompted with. "The dress feels really nice. Quite easy to move around in. Which makes it probably my favorite thing to wear. Some of my dresses constrict me from certain acrobatics but this certainly doesn't. Thank you again, Sera. I really do adore it."

Thankfully, locating Baxter was quite a piece of cake. It didn't take long, having searched the edge of the circus grounds, and lo and behold there was the demon. Except... he seemed
off. "Search party is for you. Jack wanted you to perform the big opening number as your sister can't, injured her wing by accident. When he saw you weren't at the tent he was concerned." He conveyed to him, he surveying the man with his gaze. Baxter's tone hadn't been entirely thrill or nonchalant, more so forced than anything. And the anger was undeniable in his gaze. The wolves hung back reluctantly, heads hanged low. They weren't quite entirely a fan of Baxter.

"And perhaps he has every right to be concerned. You don't look entirely pleased. What's up? Did any of the humans piss you off?" The werewolf prompted, head tilting to the side.

Sera smile, "I'm so glad you like it." she said warmly, after having given Jack yet another small apology just before he meandered off to attend the rest of the carnies there. She sighed, and glanced around, frowning, "Have you seen Bax? He missed all but his first show outside, and now I can't seem to find him." she sighed as her eyes came back to Jinx. "I was actually hoping he'd be with you..." her frown twitched slightly, her eyes dropping to the ground for only an instant, before she was back to smiling and looking at the siren. "He's seemed to started focusing on teasing you, which is why I thought... Anyway... Have you been able to find someone for you to feed from yet? The big hunt is tonight." she tried to sound casual, but she knew she'd be staying home from this one, as she was hurt, and the angel wasn't looking forward to cleaning the encampment.

Baxter shrugged, "No. Not any humans. It's nothing." he said, attempting to deflect from his anger, still trying to shove it down to more manageable levels. Of course, concern flooded him somewhat, helping to calm the anger that still raged in him by a fraction. "Sera's hurt? When...?" he asked, and shook his head, "Never mind. I can ask her." he sighed, and shoved his hands into his pockets. "I should be good to perform the opening. I've pretty well calmed down and managing." he told the werewolf as he started back for the circus, bee-lining for the big tent. Maybe the performance would help finish calming him.

Jinx flinched slightly as Sera finally prompted about Baxter's whereabouts, her head immediately shaking into a definite 'no'. All the while displaying a poker face of a fainted smile, trying not to allow her expression to falter. "'Fraid I haven't. The last time I saw him was during our outside acts. After that? Nothing..." She trailed off, and then blinked at her next question. Which, honestly, weighed a bit of discouragement on her shoulders. She had been too flustered and edged on by Baxter's antics that she hadn't gone poking around for someone. "No, I haven't found someone to feed off of yet. Didn't do much of looking around. I was preoccupied by other things I'm afraid." Yeah, throwing a knife at your brother for one, and yelling at him. "I'm sure I'll be able to nab some random guy after my acts are through and done with, right before the finale. I'm not that concerned about it."

Nikolai absently watched Baxter, an expression of skeptism plastered to the werewolf's features. Though he dared not to press and instead hunched up his shoulders into a minimal shrug. "Whatever you say, Bax." He merely uttered and tucked his hands back into the pockets of his coat. He toed his way behind the demon, giving him some space in the meantime. Whether it had to do with a carnie or not that was unsure of. Perhaps bringing Bax's unexpected anger to Sera's attention would manage for him to explain some parts of the reason where it stemmed from. Certainly seemed like a good idea to him. He ducked back into the tent once he reached it, his feet easing towards the same place he had last seen Jinx.

Sera sighed, worried for her brother, but trusting her friend, and she smiled at the siren. "Good luck on that front too." she laughed lightly, shaking her head. Then a light seemed to come to her eyes, and her grin widened, "So Niko actually talked to me.... earlier tonight." she gushed as her voice dropped low to keep the conversation between the two of them. Though it was pretty clear most everyone was to busy to eavesdrop on their conversation. "He found me when I got hurt..." she began to explain, animated and seemingly excited over the short confrontation, telling her all about what they spoke between each other, and how he had acted when she had told him of her visits to the wolves. Including their short walk as he basically escorted her to Becca's tent. Her eyes were shining the whole time in giddy happiness, "He even said as long as I don't feed them treats, and remind them that I'm the softy, not him, I can keep visiting them." she giggled, "I do love the wolves. They've always been so fascinating to me." she laughed, her cheeks flushing.

Baxter shrugged in response to Nikolai, not looking back at the werewolf or his four-legged counterparts. His mind was elsewhere, partly on Sera, wondering if her wing was alright, and partly on Jinx. The ever present siren on his mind, as if she had sung her song and it had somehow weaseled it's way into his thoughts. Though he had never been affected by the song like humans were, so it was eerie that it could be considered a possibility, and it frightened the demon. He had always been immune to any sway any creature had, being a demon, but if that ability were waning, he was in danger. What other powers might be able to sway his thoughts? Baxter growled softly at himself, shoving the thoughts down. That wasn't something he needed to think about right before a performance. He strode into the gathered crowd of carnies, immediately locking onto Jack in the crowd and walking over to him. "Hey. I'm ready to go on." he said in his best calm manner. Which he was quickly ushered to the front of the crowd, and going through the short instructions of how to change the sceneary in the big top tent to fit his opening performance rather than what would have been his sisters.

((again, just jumping a little forward because I'm here and it's in my brain. I don't want to lose it. xD we can finish up with Jinx, Sera, and Nikolai before coming back to Baxter's opening performance))

And the Show begins...

Baxter smirked with the devil's grin as he kick started his main performance bike. The engine roared like a beast from the pits of hell, and smoke billowed from it's tail pipe. Pyrotechnics illuminated his darkened profile as he shot out into the center ring, music blaring loud with a demonic laugh that would send chills down even the bravest person's spine. The lights flashed and flickered, and Baxter was surrounded in flame, his motorcycle roaring beneath him as he lapped around the ring, all eyes on him. His outfit had been changed quickly, leather vest that only covered his chest, a plunging V neck line. The tribal tattoos that marked him as what he was open for all eyes to see. Covering the parts of his chest that were visible, as well as his shoulders. The jewelry that adorned his ears sent flashes of light through the darkened tent with ever turn of his head.

His bike began to slow as the music died down, the laughter fading into the background until it disappeared completely. The lights faded until their small world was nothing but black. The roar of his engine cut out just as quickly as it had started and he carefully let second hands rush away with the bike before the lights came back on. The illusion being that the bike had disappeared. Then the spot light was on him, in all his demonic glory, smoke billowing around his ankles. Flashing lights of red, orange and yellow made it look like the smoke was on fire, burning with a passion. His hands came up and he started to laugh. Maniacal, and bone chilling. A shadow of pitch black, leather wings torn ragged for whatever reason appeared behind him, the shadow of the wings he once bore. His eyes glowed bright in the light that shined on him, almost dancing with a wide array of emotion. A small part of his mind wondered if Jinx was watching, but the idea was quickly squashed down as he let the seething anger carefully slide forward.

"Tonight!" he bellowed into the microphone at his ear as his voice echoed and boomed all around the tent making him sound as though he were everywhere all at once. "Tonight you will witness nothing you have ever seen before!" he continued, his tone somewhat more subdued. His body shifted slowly, head turning to scan the crowd. Carefully. Letting the anticipation build. Then he was moving. Sprinting from center ring to the stands that held his captivated onlookers. A foot hit the railing that lined the stands, a kind of divider between the watching and the watched. He bound upward, reaching, and suddenly he was swinging through the air like a trapeze artist. Over the crowd of shocked onlookers. His grin only grew wider, his anger bubbling just beneath the surface of his mischief. "Through the mist, and the dark of night, lie creatures of unbelievable sight!" he chanted the mantra, hearing children gasping and giggling with excitement after the initial fear. Over the crowd he flew until his journey came to the center of the ring yet again, only this time, he was suspended in the air. He pulled himself up from hanging by his legs, and then he was standing. His long, thin legs encased inside tight black pants. Not leather, but denim. They clung to his form like a second skin. The rest of him was adorned with various belts, strings, chains, and all manner of things that made him look far more dangerous than he really was. Or so the onlookers thought.

"From demons to angels, and sea creatures afoot," he chanted again, as if casting a spell, "to the skies above we shoot!" he bellowed once again, and his hand shot above him, an eruption of flame and then the lights went out again. He was swathed in the darkness, and he reveled in it. A hunger began to burn in his stomach, one he knew very well. The lust for blood that was always a part of him. The fear, the panic. More bellowing laughter through the dark, and Baxter leaped to the ground, landing just as the spot light hit him again. He straightened, "Come with us on a magical journey, and believe in the unknown. See the magic, and know." he grinned, his tone once again far more subdued, a musical note to it, silky and inviting. "Tonight. There will be wonder." he said, his voice so low it could have been mistaken as a whisper and the lights once more faded into black. He moved quickly to side of the ring as he knew someone was setting up the rings in which he would jump through before he made his exit, and at the sign of the first spark he bolted. Each hoop lit on fire, and each one he hit with his foot as he bound through the ever increasing heights of the burning loops. He reached the crest, and dropped. A terrified gasp and several screams of worry for his safety echoed through as everything went black. Quietly, but quickly, Baxter made his way back out to where the crowd of carnies waited, and Jack took his place in the center ring to begin the rest of the show. Sweat made Baxter's skin glisten, even in the dim lighting that surrounded the carnies.

After the prompting questions, and the ceased briefest mentions of a certain someone, Baxter, Jinx managed to relax as Sera drawled into the recalling conversation of what transpired between her and Nikolai. She beamed softly at the blonde's animated tone, voice slightly hushed so they could discuss the gossip without anyone overhearing. Which, most carnies were enthralled by their own excitement and groups of friends. However, her eyes caught the sight of a certain someone. Baxter had just weaved his way amongst the others to reach Jack. Her gaze remained fixated on him and it made her wonder -- was he upset? Sure as hell seemed like it when he left her trailer. Perhaps by the harsh criticism and unexpected rejection? The thought nearly made her roll her eyes. Whatever, he deserved it. "Ooooooh. Sera has a cruuuuuuush!" The siren sang aloud once Sera had concluded on the bits of the conversation, teensy giggles breaking through Jinx. "If you ever need help secuding a man... I'm the woman to come too. I'll give you all the tips on how to. 'Kay?" She insisted, waggling her eyebrows in the most suggestive way. Then she paused. "Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Sup Niko!"

Nikolai had slipped in the empty space besides the two woman. His wolves meandered around on their own, sniffing and greeting the others they knew of. "Hey Sera? Quick question: does Bax usually get angry?"

Jinx went still at his prompt. She pratically froze up on spot, the question winding her way back to her previous thoughts... was he really, truly upset about what transpired in their confrontation?

Sera blinked, and suddenly her face went near crimson, "I do not!" she attempted to hiss at her friend, though it came as more of an embarrassed squeak. The rest of the siren's words, and the suggestive way she wiggled her eyebrows only furthered the redness of the angel's face, the flush burning her ears and neck. It was also then that Jinx mentioned the arrival of the particular subject they were conversing of, and she froze for a moment in horror. When she finally managed to gain some semblance of self control, she looked at Nikolai, somewhat confused by his question. She shrugged, "Yeah, he's a demon. He's almost always angry, but he never lets it overwhelm him." she said, thinking back on all she had learned about Baxter since they had grown together. "He told me years ago that he's an energy demon of sorts. Like... he gets his power from those around him, which is why he enjoys himself so much here with all of us. We're all supernatural, always giving off energy. And his abilities don't hurt us because well... he actually didn't quite understand why." she shrugged once again. Then a worried look over came her, "If he's visibly angry, he needs some way to release all that pent up energy he's absorbed. He can get out of hand if he doesn't, and even now, he still doesn't fully understand his own abilities." she said, a small tinge of panic rising in her voice. "That accident back when Bax and I were only small.... when the circus was burned entirely to the ground... that was Baxter. He'd lost control because he had to much energy... We have to tell Jack. He could hurt someone if we don't find a way to calm him." she fretted, suddenly extremely worried for her brother. Then the music started.

Jinx stilled into silence, numbed by the announcement and the interweaving words that formed from Sera. The realization that Baxter wasn't all too sure of himself, some aspects unknown to him despite portraying that he knew all and his opinion meant everything. Would he cause a similar accident? The siren was the first to move her feet towards the curtain, peeling it back as the music started and Baxter's opening performance started, the sight of him giving her chills. He looked more edgy and dangerous, a persona he quite possessed and played upon as if it was apart of him. And perhaps it was, with that undeniable anger he had within him, brewing. She clinched the fabric between her fingers, pulling it further open, as her eyes observed every trick he played and listened to every word he said. His voice was shrill with that same low, seductive tone he had used on her earlier. The crowd surely seemed hypnotized by it and his boasting personality. The crowd screeched with shrill horror as the opening dwindled to an end, and Baxter swept into the back of the tent whilst Jack approached the main center of the spot light that shines downwards on him. Jinx moved, a jerked movement, and then she was pivoting, abandoning the sides of Sera and Nikolai. She had to arrange herself to where she was positioned to enter, her act being the second and with a few other carnies as well. But she also had wanted to get away from Baxter, avoiding the man all together.

Sera stared after her brother, the way he walked and strode purposefully to the edge of the crowd, his back to everyone. He was angry. Far angrier than she ever remembered him. She glanced at Nikolai, "I'll go talk to him." she said softly, and moved away from the werewolf to approach her brother. She carefully placed a hand on his shoulder, "Bax?" she prompted softly, a gentle curiousness to her tone. The demon shrugged her hand off his shoulder, "Not now, Sera. I don't want to hear it. Yes, I'm angry. Yes, I can't get a handle on myself. Just leave me be." he snapped at her, his fists clenching at his sides.

The angel gulped softly, lowering her hand slowly. "Bax, talk to me. That's always helped you before. The hunt is tonight, you'll be able to let some energy loose. It'll be oh--" she started, but Baxter spun around, cutting off her words. "It's not okay, Sera!" he snapped loudly, the careful reign he held on his anger slipping just slightly. "I don't know what's going on! I'm losing it, but I don't want to hurt anyone!" he growled, forcing his voice to remain low to keep from bellowing at his sister. "Nothing's helped. Nothing. Just leave me alone before I hurt you!" he hissed, sparks of flame beginning to flash around his hands.

Sera blinked again, "Bax... calm down. It'll be okay... I'll help you through this. Like always." she assured him gently, refusing to back down from the demon. Baxter began to shake, trying to keep himself under control. She reached out for him again, and Baxter swung a hand up, brushing hers aside in a huff. Yet what he hadn't noticed was the flames that burst forth and seared the angel's skin, making her scream in startling pain. His eyes grew wide, "Oh shit... Sera... I... I'm sorry... I didn't..." he stammered, the fear evident in his eyes now, melding with the ever present and increasing anger. Sera fought the tears in her eyes, "It... It's o-okay, Bax.... you didn't mean it. I know that..." she whimpered as she clutched her burned hand to her chest. "J-just c-calm down... before it happens again..." she bit her lip as she fought breaking into tears.

Baxter stared, and then there were others. The carnies all had turned to see what had caused someone's scream, and Baxter froze. Again he was loosing control, and he was scared. His mind slipped back to when he had caused the circus to burn to the ground, and the fright of it happening again paralyzed the demon. Flames danced around his feet and anything close to him that was flammable began to catch. Things were starting to burn, and smoke began to fill the air. The canopy above them all suddenly lit with flame from a stray spark. "No... It's..." Baxter stammered, and he dropped to his knees. His hands went to his head, gripping it as he fought to regain his control. The smoke from the burning materials and canvas began to find its way into the tent where the second performance was well underway.

It seemed like everything ensued within slow motion. With the blasting music overheard for Jinx's peformance of acrobatics, and the help of others, they didn't hear much of the bellowing that Baxter did. In fact many seemed enthralled by the act. The piercing sounds of music, haunting and with every beat they moved, twisting and performing some kind of trick to delight and mystify the crowd. Not many had noted the seeping canopy that billowed with fire. Not right away, anyways, and then the crowds were screaming, jumping out of their seats and aiming for the nearest exit. Jinx pivoted sharply, stilling her breath at the sight. Flames flickered and smoke casted into the interior of the big top tent. She could only guess where this stemmed from; Baxter. The siren was quite torn up with guilt, and another half torn up with the question that made her blink -- is he really that insecure about rejection? She didn't have an answer for neither, unfortunately. "File in a straight order, please. Do not push," she shouted aloud over the hurried hushed voices, and the whimpers of sobbing children who wanted to stay. Then she set to work on tearing the canopy down, a few carnies aiding her with the thick material, trying their best to avoid the burning sides but that was little to none successful for them.

Meanwhile, out back, most had done the same. Carnies raced around, gathering the nearest water bottles, and dumping the remaining h20 onto the enthralled flames. Others, meanwhile, had the guts to stamp it out with their own two feet. Whilst that happened, Jack swooped in upon Baxter. The poor man seemed like a small child again, watching as he tore down everything around him once again. But that wouldn't happen. It was bound time he tried to at least control this madness of a power. "Bax. Breathe," the Ring Master instructed, gingerly setting a hand at his shoulder. He scrunched down beside him. "Flaming up the whole circus tent will not help you whatsoever. You need to breathe, keep your mind blank, and focus on nothing but that. Can we do that? Please?" He spoke in the softest way imaginable, and then retreated his hand, awaiting to see how this would transpire out for the demon.

Nikolai had heard the wrangled scream from Sera, one that had lead everyone to peer at the blonde twins with precaution... ,

He weaseled his way through the tight crowds and reached for her, gripping her injured hand. "Sera -- are you alright? Does it sting, hurt severely, et cetera...?" He prompted, although kept a reluctant eye on the firey flames.

Baxter flinched as soon as he felt a hand on his shoulder, Jack's voice filtering through the frightened and angry torment raging in Baxter's mind. He rocked slightly as if his balance were off when the hand removed from his shoulder, and a small whimper slipped from him. He bit his lip, hard, and took as deep a breath as he could manage. He cleared his mind, which was harder than he had expected, and forced himself to think of nothing. The meditation exercises came to mind, and he pulled all his strength to think of a serene lake scene. Just a sheet of water, still and calm, like glass. One. Two. Three.... he started counting aloud in his head. Slowly, his eyes lifted, their piercing blue stare seeming dull, yet just somehow just a vibrant as ever. He searched out Jack's face, or Sera's, something to ground him. Something he'd known all his miserable life on the earth he knew. He stared when located Jack, crouched down beside him. He held the man's gaze, and slowly, the sparks and flames finally began to dissipate from him, and as if a chain reaction, the surrounding flames followed suit.

Sera whimpered, silent tears sliding down her cheeks as she stepped backward from Jack and Baxter, jumping slightly when Nikolai, to her, seemed to appear out of thin air. She yelped as he took her injured hand, the redness and welts cover nearly her entire forearm and palm. "I-It's nothing... just a burn.... Bax didn't mean it..." she stammered, attempting to pull her arm away to keep the attention off of her. Though when her arm flexed to pull it out of the werewolf's grasp, the resulting feeling of the stretching burned skin made Sera yelp loudly. Her arm relaxed in the man's grip, "It hurts... it hurts so much...." she whispered, her voice thick and choked.

Jack carefully sat back while he let Baxter unravel from his firmly insisted instructions. He only hoped that they work, and the demon could perhaps relax to soothe the anger tormenting through his body. Whatever, and however, that transpired from was pratically unknown to the man who run it all. What mattered more was his cast rather than the actual show. If there was even in the slightest flaw in their health, he'd postpone the events till everything was cleared over. He met Baxter's eyes, and the man smiled warmly. Then the crackling fire seemly dissipated; no longer there. He clapped a hand to his shoulder, "Good job, Bax," he congratulated. "But we're gonna have to take a swing by Becca's tent. Alright? Merely to give you something to relax before heading off to your tent. The hunt will not take place tonight..."

Adjacent to them, the tent opening was thrown aside and Jinx stamped her feet inwards, tossing down the steaming canopy fabric that she tore down with the aid of the acrobatics team amongst the circus. She casted her eyes aside at Baxter and the smoldering mess of faded burnt fabric and the utter chaos that he caused. She snorted, slipping out from the big top tent

Nikolai's face flexed into that of a grimace as he caught the full sight of the protruding burn. It was fully evident against her skin, from the palm of her hand to her forearm it was seething red. He winced visibly as the blonde angel yelped when she attempted to draw backwards, away from him and his attention. His grasp lessened, easing more into a soft, cradling touch. "I know... it's sure as hell going to hurt for a while, trust me. But c'mon, come with me. I have a salve at my tent hat will aid your pain, lessen it, and perhaps the discoloration the burn will most certainly give you." He inclined his head towards where the exit was, just as the siren slipped out. Honestly, he also wanted to give Baxter and Jack some space. Perhaps, when alone, they would discuss whatever spurred tonight's incident.

Baxter blinked slowly, letting Jack's words filter into his mind without breaking the calming image he held firmly in place. He nodded to the man, "Right... Sorry, Jack... I don't..." he started, but had to fall silent to keep from breaking his calming image. He didn't want to lose control again, and at this point, he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to stay calm as it were. He hated that he'd been the cause for the hunt to be postponed, knowing everyone had been looking forward to the event. People were growing antsy, and it was his fault that they wouldn't be able to exercise that night.

Sera nodded, biting her lip to quell her whimpers as she followed after Nikolai. Tears continued down her cheeks, both from the pain of the wound, and for Baxter. She silently hoped that Jack would find out what was bothering her brother, and help him. It wasn't often that the demon ever lost control, and tonight had almost been a disaster. She kept her eyes on Nikolai's hand as he lead her back toward the tent area where people slept and relaxed before and after shows. "Th-thanks.... Niko..." she whispered, her breath coming and going in short, ragged gasps as she attempted to calm herself.

Jack steadily grasped Baxter's arm and carefully helped the demon to his feet. The Ring Master looked increasingly worried by tonight's display, "Let's go," he urged more gently. "And on the way you can tell me what transpired before your burst of anger. Every single detail. Whether the reason for being thinking too much or an interaction with a particular person that could have set you into this mode." He gingerly made his way to the opening in the tent, and brushing it aside with one hand. Most of their customers for tonight's big show had fled. No doubtingly someone called 911. That situation would have to be increasingly and carefully handled with. But, at this very moment, he needed to handle Baxter.

Once more Nikolai's walking pace was kept at a slow minimum, for the sake of Sera. He wanted her to at least be able to keep up and not feel like she'd have to hurry with his long strides. His wolves had slipped from his side, most likely enjoying their freedom in the forest that lined the grounds. Not that he was overly concerned. They'd come back eventually.... and if not right away they knew what they would face upon their return. He swept aside his tent opening and immersed himself within, pulling his hand free from Sera's. His tent was small, baring only a chest in the corner, a bed, and a bookshelf set onto the side. He crouched in front of the chest, opening it upwards. Then he took a few moments to find the salve he spoke about, rustling through personal neon finds and clothes. "Sera," he called, plucking up a small bottle into his grasp. "C'mere."

Baxter numbly stood, gripping Jack's arm as if it were his life support. Again, the words filtered into Baxter's thoughts, and part of him didn't want to tell the Ring Master of what happened, but knew he'd be unable not to tell him. A frown formed on his features, "It's my fault.... really..." he started, his words slow as he checked his emotions while he started explaining. "I was messing with Jinx... cause I could tell she was starting to get hungry...." he shrugged as he trudged along beside Jack toward Becca's tent. "I was already seething because it's been so long since I've been able to let loose.... I shouldn't have pressed my luck..." he frowned, his brows furrowing. He threw himself into reciting every detail, and word, exchanged between him and the siren. Including the emotions that he couldn't explain. He even made sure to state that once they had started rolling, he couldn't get the emotions back under wraps. And that it terrified him. "It felt... it felt like I was some other person completely..." he shrugged once more.

Sera followed as quietly as she could, slowly calming her tears as much as possible. A twinge of curiosity that the wolves weren't following distracted the angel for a moment, but when they stopped and Nikolai slipped into a tent, obviously his own, her mind was distracted by something completely different. She was about to go inside Nikolai's tent. Alone. Just with him. Had she not been hurting, she might have ended up with a blush on her cheeks, but she slid quietly inside after him. She stayed near the exit, looking over the inside of the tent, noting it down in her mind. It was the closest she'd been to getting to know more about the werewolf than she'd ever had the chance before. Her eyes snapped to the man when he spoke, beckoning her to come over to him. She slowly moved over to where he crouched by the chest, eyeing the bottle he held in his hand. Carefully, she folded her legs under her and knelt beside him, holding out her injured arm. She trusted the werewolf, but that didn't exactly ease her fear of knowing how much it was going to hurt before there would be any relief for the burn on her arm.

The Ring Master had quelled into silence, taking in every detail that poured forth from Baxter, never ending and leaving nothing out. In fact, with so much of a lengthy explanation, they had reached Becca's tent by the time he concluded. Jack raised a hand and brushed it over the stubble that liner his jawline and chin. "I see... well, with you being a demon you will feel spouts of anger that you probably won't be able to contain. That's something you'll have to personally work on. As for feeling emotions, ones that you aren't so familiar with or known for, I'll look into it. It's certainly seems like an oddity... but then again perhaps not." He pulled back the curtain and gestured inwards with his free hand. Becca glanced up, removing the glasses from where they perched upon her nose.

He paused, and briefly considered his next choice of words. "As for Jinx... I will have a chat with her. She should have some blame to partake in this, as she didn't quite put a minimum on her comments as it seems. That may have further edged upon those feelings, Bax. But in the meantime, you should have Becca look over you. No need to ask for any medication, on second thought. I'll have Jinx swing by your tent."

Nikolai adjusted himself to face Sera as she meandered towards him, sitting beside the werewolf. He uncapped the bottle wordlessly, and poured the salve out onto his hand. "Forewarning... it's going to hurt really, really bad. Especially considering how severe this burn looks." He mused, although that probably wasn't entirely reassuring either to the blonde angel. He paused, wavering, and then meekly offered, "Ah... you can punch me if it reaches extreme pain. Just not in the face please. Aim for the shoulder instead." He chided, and then as gingerly as possible he began to apply the salve to get skin. He was careful, smoothing his fingers over the plastered burn, his face creasing into a grimace.

Baxter looked at Jack quizzically, not exactly enthused to see Jinx but at the same time, it would be entertaining to see the aftermath of his talk with her. Not to mention it furthered his chances at a little teasing. He nodded, "Soon as Becca's looked me over, I'll head to my tent... er, well... I'll take one of our spares out near the edge. I hurt Sera pretty badly.... I'll let her have her space tonight...." he said softly, sighing as another round of guilt washed over him. He stepped into the tent, plopping down on the nearest stool and gave another heavy sigh. "Hey, Becca... So... I tried to burn the place down again..." he said sheepishly, looking down at his lap. "Jack wants ya to look me over or whatever...." he shrugged.

Sera flinched at the warning, but couldn't help the half-laugh that bubbled into her chest as he offered to be a punching bag if it hurt to much. She shook her head, "I'd never be able to hit a friend, Niko." she said with a small smile, a tiny amount of amusement in her voice as he began to apply the salve to her burn. She made a squeak as the pain erupted in her arm, biting down hard on her lip to keep from crying out. Her entire body went rigid as forced herself not to yank her arm back from the source that caused the pain, knowing that would only hurt worse. A fresh round of tears swam in her eyes and slid down her cheeks, but otherwise, she was as still as a statue. She stared as he gingerly applied the salve, his fingers smoothing over her burn. When she glanced at his face, she felt a pang of self consciousness at the grimace there. She wanted to hide the ugly burn, and she was fairly certain she would forever have a scar.

As Baxter slipped inwards to the tent, Jack wavered by the open curtain and listened briefly as Becca assured that this was just the smallest of checkups, and a list of emotions that he felt, perhaps still did. Then he took a step back, and with a look around, the Ring Master peeled himself from the nurse's tent. Instead, he wounded his way across the grounds and to where the siren's trailer sat at the edge of the forest lining, a little ways from the circus grounds. The door was open, lights on, and movement certainly about within. He climbed the few steps and entered the small, tight premise. Jinx had wiped the makeup from her face, and removed her costume attire. She was more into an outfit that screamed 'i'm heading out for the night'. When she noted Jack's presence she pivoted back round, "Jack, I need to head out into town."

He shook his head, leaning on the doorframe. "'Fraid I can't let you go out tonight. You're staying here, watching over Baxter till he's asleep."

Jinx's face formed into a look of utter disbelief, "
What? Why, of all people, does it have to be me? I did nothing wrong! He kept teasing and teasing. I just gave it back at him." The slightest chuckle discharged from Jack, and she looked at him wearily. The hunger had grown worse in wait during her performance that eventually never happened. Her nerves were thin and taught, on edge and desperate for anything beyond this point. "I'm hungry, Jack. I cannot be with him. If I don't feed tonight --"

"You can and will. There is a solution to that. Bax was, perhaps still is, feeling high quantities of emotions. You may be able to quell some of that for him, yes? And in the process ease your hunger. You have to take partial blame for what transpired. I suspect that you're a reason why his feelings went haywire. Sirens do have that affect." He called from over his shoulder as he stepped down from her trailer, prepared to leave. "Oh. Do scrounge around for a loose tent while you're at it and set it up a little ways from your trailer. Tonight Bax won't be sleeping in his shared tent with Sera."

(Though you might've liked to see that conversation
xD )

At least Nikolai managed to shaken a laugh from her. Because within the next few seconds she was yelping and going rigid. "I know, I know..." he muttered. "But I assure you that once this settles in it will numb your whole entire arm. You won't even feel the burn by then." He stated, making the slightest of small talk to her keep the blonde angel distracted from focusing on the high intensity of pain. "When you leave I'll let you take the bottle with you. That way you can apply it later in the night if it bothers you y'know?" He withdrew his hands finally after smearing the salve all over her arm. The werewolf plucked up a cloth from within his chest and wiped his hands off with it.

Baxter sighed as he delved into the usual checkup he went through with Becca, continuously checking himself to make sure he had a tight clamp on the overflow of emotions that seemed ready to burst again. He mechanically answered her questions, sticking as close to the truth as he trusted to. Eventually, she was finished with him, the diagnosis being he just needed to find a way to release some of his stored power. The favorite description of him being a cup, the emotions water. Currently, his cup was full but the water kept pouring so it was overflowing. He just needed to empty his cup. Which was easier said than done, especially since the hunt tonight had been postponed. He sighed again as he exited Becca's tent, and went to find where the spare tent he had requested been placed.

((That was good xD and I'm sure Bax is gonna mess with Jinx...))

Sera nodded as he explained what the salve would do, and that she could take it with her. Her arm was beginning to feel better, but the thought of going to her tent was a frightening one. Of course, it wasn't because she was afraid of Baxter, but rather because she knew he wasnt going to be there. She hadn't ever been truly alone since joining the circus, not with Baxter around, and the idea was frightening that she'd be in that huge tent alone. She swallowed thickly, and nodded once again, "Thank you... Niko." She said with a tiny smile as she lifted her eyes from her arm and looked at him as he wiped his fingers clean. "It feels much better." She said, her eyes bouncing down and then back to the werewolf. She blinked a few times, then stood, dusting her uninjured hand off on her dress. "I... I guess I'll go... get some rest... have a good night." She said with a second, small smile before she made a move for the exit of the tent.

Jinx had set up the tent as requested by the Ring Master himself. She didn't want to have any partake in tonight, let alone be anywhere near Baxter at this moment. But what else was she supposed to do? Risk getting caught while sneaking her way out of the circus grounds? No way. She didn't dare get on Jack's bad side. It was already bad enough she was being partially blamed for the demon's outburst of emotions. Why? Because she had out right rejected Bax and he couldn't control his anger that transpired from it? Pfft. She didn't have to be sensitive and considerate. Especially when it came to him. The siren had set up the small confinement of the tent so it contained a bed for Baxter, more like a portable cot than anything, and then a chair in the far corner. Currently, at the moment, she had called dibs on the cot with no presence of the demon to bug her. Besides her was the set of knives, contained within their sheath and clutched between her hands was her phone. Her fingers scrolled through choices of music playlists, contemplating on what she should switch on to fill the silence. Perhaps also a good avoidance mechanism when Baxter walked in. She finally found the right tone of music she wanted and switched it on with a flick of her thumb, a sultry tone of music flowing through the phone speakers from an indie artist.

(Bax's teasing is the best tho
xD And what makes it so funny ~)

Nikolai meekly watched Sera as she managed another second smile in the brief time they had been together. He dropped the cloth back into the chest, and then closed it back up. "Sera," he called after her retreating form, "you forgot the salve." He mused as he got to his own feet, striding towards where she was by the entrance of his tent. The werewolf outstretched his hand, offering up the bottle for her to take. "If you need anything else... I suppose you can come see me." He said, although didn't entirely want to be close with the angel, let alone relied upon. For his sanity and her sake of avoiding all the messes being friends with a werewolf could bring. Thankfully, he didn't have to linger too long on his words. Jack poked his head through the entrance of the tent, "Niko please alert the others that there will be no hunt as of tonight. Tomorrow we will at least try. And Sera... your brother is set up on the edge of the forest. Jinx is overseeing him as punishment."
