Derrion "Der" Helms
Just as Derrion got comfortable, Dev tossed her phone into his lap. ““Here take over the music since Sun apparently hates my playlist today anyways.” Der laughed, “Bet. I got you.” Scrolling through the music app, Der found a familiar song and put it on, queueing up another after it.
“Anyways New Kid… Jerry? Derry? I dunno Dev never mentioned your name. You ever been to a gay club meet before?”
Derrion looked up at the sudden question from Sun before stifling another laugh as Dev attempted to apologize for them.
“Yes I have. Don’t mind Sun, th-he’s better with nicknames. Buttttt anyways have you?”
Der smiled, "Oh well in that case, you can call me Der. And…I mean at my old school there were lgbt+ clubs, but I wasn’t a part of them.” Debating whether or not to give out trauma details (and deciding no) he simply said, “The times clashed with the other clubs I was in .” He shrugged his shoulders.
It wasn’t a lie. It definitely clashed with his basketball practices and swim club meetings, but the biggest reason he didn’t was because he wasn’t out to his parents. They were way too involved in his school and social life to not notice if he joined too. Der shifted at the uncomfortable thoughts, attempting to shake them. “What about you guys? Been in the club for a long time or are you guys kinda new too?”
