Known as the family clown but he feels that his big family doesn't pay him any attention or take him seriously. Being a fool is the only way he knows to get the slightest reaction from his family, but he hates being known as a screw up. History: Simply put, she's a runaway. She's never been the type to follow rules, and so when her foster parents tried to send her off to boarding school, she left. Her only regret was leaving behind Timmy, the 8 year-old boy who she thought of as a brother. She disappears from the house sometimes, going back to visit Timmy in secret. She's got a lot of insecurities, but she disguises those as her strengths to keep people from wondering. She's also got issues with alcohol—frankly, it's her only means of escape from her problems and loneliness.

Her her hair stops short at her elbows and is dark brown with caramel tips. She stands to about 5'5". On her left temple, she's got a thin white scar from when she she was young, and she was standing next to a window before it was shattered by a baseball. On the underside of her right wrist, she's got a tattoo of the phrase "Carpe Diem." Her style usually has a chic, sporty feel to it (meaning ripped skinny jeans, flatbills, high tops, flannels).

• Drake is lean and lanky in the way that suggests a life of hopping fences for the sake of hopping them and eating just barely not enough. He stands tall, standing at 182.88 cm, and with a quick change in his posture he can appear to raise himself a few inches still or diminish to the appearance of someone much shorter. He's learned to hold himself both in the position of someone strong and intimidating, in possession of some inner power and to hold himself in the likes of someone cowed and powerless, not worth a second glance. His skin holds the same pallor as all the people native born to England seem to sport no matter how long they stay out in the sun, and his hair falls in half-curled messy black locks that look permanently as if they needed a cutting a day or two ago, no matter what he does with them. He has a tendency to dye the tips a deep shade of green because he prefers the colour and because it compliments the blue-green shade of his eyes.

• Drake is the epitome of a rebel without a cause. His whole life he's wanted to overthrowsomething, he's just never quite gotten around to the what or the how of it. When he was young it was his parents, and then school, and at this point he'll take up just about any cause he can just for the sake of having something,anything,to fight for. Sometimes he's not even sure what he's fighting for in the end, it just feels good to be part of the minority movement. He'll take up just about any cause, and loves the idea of disorder. An unrealized anarchist at heart he has a great distaste for all forms of governance and control, he'd rather live in a world of disorganized freedom then one of tightly controlled welfare. Freedom, he decided a long time ago, was too high a price forany sort of protection. He can be flat out self destructive with his need to be outspoken. He'll denounce whatever he sees as wrong and he doesn't care who hears it.
  
  
  He's a very snarky young man who seems to find more sustenance in witty banter then he does in actual food. He's the sort to create and argument for arguments sake, and nothing endears someone to him more then the ability to keep up with him verbally and match his wit. While he's no stranger to fist fights - and sometimes will actively seek them out if he hasn't gotten enough of a rush in the last few weeks - he sees his tongue as his greatest weapon and quite likes unleashing it when he gets the chance.
  
  
  He has a strong distrust of most people and doesn't like to get attached to anyone if he can help it. Words hurt more than any physical wound ever could, he learned that early on through his fathers cold detachment and his mother's frequent reminders that if it wasn't for him then she'd still be a happy woman. A broken bone was nothing in comparison to poignant lack of love and flat out blame from his own parents.
  
  
  Living in the foster care system did nothing to cure him of his idea that people simply weren't made for getting close to. The only way to get attention was by acting out, and he did that well. He'd regularly get himself transported from family to family when he'd pushed them so far that they refused to keep him with them. He's made rather a practise of testing people out - pushing them further and further until they finally aren't willing to put up with them any more. At this point he's sure that no ones ever going to be willing to stay through all the shit he throws at them - after all, he makes himself very hard to love - and each time someone new turns him away he just files it away as further proof that no one, ever, will want to stay. Especially not forhim. It's easier to drive people away then it is to hold to them with all your might only to see them go anyway, so until someone stays through everything he can come up with, he's not planning on opening himself up to trust others again.
• Most of this is covered in his personality section as reasoning for the way he's developed as a person, so I'll be brief here. Drake was born to a couple who wanted him dearly in the first few months of his life. Clinging desperately to the idea that a child would save her failing marriage, Drake's mother looked to Drake to restore her happiness - a very high and unfair expectation for a baby not yet capable of crawling to be held to. For a while both his mother and father adored him, doting on the newest member of their family, but by the time Drake was six months old his father found out something disturbing during a visit to the doctor - that he was sterile, and in fact had been for some time. Realising that his wife must have cheated on him Drake's father brought their family into a time of darkness, and for the first few years of Drake's life he was treated as a pariah - proof of his mother's infidelity to his father and the root of her unhappiness to his mother. When his father finally left Drake and his mother, going to work one day and never returning (presumably off to some new, more faithful family) Drake's mother turned all her bitter anger onto her son. By the time Drake was twelve he was pulled from his mother's care by CPS, after the school notified the authorities that they thought Drake was undergoing severe abusive treatment at home. From there he was bounced around the foster care system for years, leading him to spend more and more time out of the houses he was assigned to, leaving him virtually homeless at least in terms of access to food, clothing, and other resources beyond the simple roof over his head that his legal guardians were obligated to provide. Eventually he found his way to the Broken Home, more out of a desire to get away from where he was then to actually get there.

• 18
• Because of his infatuation with sports, Darien has always been somewhat muscular. Unfortunately, given that he almost exclusively plays football (soccer, to the American's in the audience) his upper body isn't all that put together. While there's not much extra fat there, most all the muscle on his form has taken up permanent residence on his calves and thighs.
  
  
  He has olive-toned skin, hinting at Mediterranean origin, though due to a heavy amount of his time being spent in the sun and a more African family line on his mothers’ side he tends to edge towards a darker hue. His brown hair is often scruffy and uneven, given that he cuts it himself, and it defiantly doesn't help his overall appearance, given that most of his clothes are full of holes and poorly patched up. He tries to look generally clean. Up until recently, Darien has looked rather like a ragamuffin, but lately he's been being kept fairly neat, if only because his new ‘mother’ won't let him leave the house without at least looking SOMEWHAT presentable. So lately Darien has been regularly forced into new, non-ripped up shirts and shorts, and has his hair almost routinely combed. The only bit they haven't managed to get rid of is the shoes - affectionately named "duct tape sneakers" by Darien and so called because they're about eighty percent tape, fifteen percent staples and glue, and five percent shoe. He maintains that they're still usable, so why would he throw them out?
  
  
  In terms of clothes, he generally wears shorts and t-shirts, simple and easy, and all bought from good will, or picked up out of the trash if he sees it and thinks it's still usable. He can come off as a little bit grungy, but that's only because he's still not used to living a life where he can shower every day and afford new, clean clothes.

• Darien is the sort of person who would find happiness in a house made of dung. He's almost constantly content where he is, if only because where he came from was always worse. When he lived on the streets he learned to be thankful for every little bit of cover and scrap of food, so now a couch is like a goose-down mattress with silk sheets to him. He can make himself happy in just about any situation he's put in, and because of this he often never tries to better himself. He'll be utterly content in slum-like living conditions, and never think to want something better, because it's already a lot better then what he was in before. Because he's happy where he is, he doesn't think that he can be happier anywhere else, and so he doesn't try to be. As such, he doesn't usually realise he wants something until after he has it - he didn't know he wanted a couch until he was sleeping on one, he didn't know he wanted a bed until he'd been moved tothat. He didn't realise how much better it was to have new, clean clothes until he had the money and means to pick up a few new shirts. Likewise, he rarely realises that he likes someone or wants to be in a relationship until he already is, and can rarely think to make the first move. He doesn't understand the consumerist need to want more moremore, and likely never will.
  
  
  That being said, there are some things he will never stop striving for, the foremost of which is normalcy. He strives to be normal in every way - it's his dearest wish, the thing he wants most to fix about himself. He feels as if something must be inherentlywrongwith him to have made his parents give him up, and despite the fact that Warren has taken him and made him part of his family he constantly feels that there must be some part of him that's wrong and that will make people abandon him again. This is also why he isn't very open about his orientation - while he's not ashamed of who he is and who he likes, he knows that it's cause for being ostracised, and as such doesn't like to talk about any 'abnormal' part of him, as he sees it. Sometimes he wonders if he acted too foppish when he was young and that's why his parents gave him up - he doesn’t reallyknowwhy they did it so he often likes to think up reasons that they might have, with the empty hope that if he could change that part of himself they'd come back and want him again.
  
  
  He likes animals more than people for a number of reasons, one being that he was just never a very social creature. He gets dogs and cats and birds, etc., more than he does humans, if only because they share his essentially simplistic view on life and ability to accept and often even be happy in whatever situation they're dropped into. He also adores them, at least on a subconscious level, because of how loyal some animals can be. Animals don't care that he's socially awkward and used to be homeless or that he's gay, and they certainly wouldn't disown him for it. The simple acceptance that he finds in animals is more then he's ever expected from a person, and as such he loves them all dearly. He cannot understand why any human would willingly leave behind or hurt an animal, and can at times be scarily protective of them, even ones he's never met before.
  
  
  Like the dogs he loves so much, he tends to be an incredibly loyal person and once he's determined someone is his friend he won't leave their side - no matter how horribly they treat him.
  
  
  When it comes to sports, Darien is highly competitive, and borderline obsessive. He's incredibly active, and spends more of his time in cleats then he does regular shoes. He'll practice for hours a day, and when he has a game coming up he often calls extra emergency practises, and will run his team ragged up until the day before the game, then let them have a full day off to rest. He trains relentlessly and takes extreme joy from all forms of sport, though sometimes others find his willingness to give up a social life for training to be disturbing. The thing is, sportsarehis social life - he doesn't have many friends, so his team mates are the closest thing he's got. It's one of the only ways he can hang out with people his age, given that he's too old for sleepovers and the like, and when he was young enough he didn't exactly have any parents around to take him to one.
