if i had a choice between wearing leather armor and wearing a Gambeson, i would go with the Gambeson every time. better protection, more flexible material, more insulated material, cheaper to make, lighter weight, more breatheable and definitely more deserving of a bonus better than studded leather on the D&D armor charts. but to preserve the stylized look of fantasy artwork, they had to nerf how Gambesons work in that game because god forbid people wear the superior cheaper lighter armor over that poorly insulated black leather catsuit.

As someone who owns alot of swords including a katana I can safely say that the katana is my least favorite. It has no weight behind it and bounces off anything not made out of flesh or light cloth. I prefer my swords that I made myself, a longsword that has a good center of balence and is able to be used to blungion using the gaurd. Or you can unscrew the hilt and end them rightly.

Late as all hell to this thread, but +1 for an end them rightly joke.

It is the pommel tho and not the hilt. And yes, a non screwable pommel is the honorabru Katana's only weakness. No amount of anime or steel folding can fix that.

Katana is inferior to every other sword out there. including the Wakazashi and Scimitar, which are the closest counterparts.

why do tabletop RPGs make the Gambeson so useless when it was literally one of the most effective light armors in existence and even better than most medium armors? i'd consider a Gambeson at least twice as good at protection as leather armor, with none of the constriction, none of the weight and none of the encumbrance, but also wearable by anyone for a fraction of the cost. or in 5e, twice as good at base protection as studded leather.

Inspired by the SCP big list of cliches, I have congregated a list of tropes that everyone on any roleplay site (myself included) is guilty of doing at least once numerous times (- which led me to delete and make several new accounts since I joined this site in an attempt to bury the painful memories).

In no particular order, we've got plenty of:

1) Characters what have small fightan skillz but make up for it wit SPESHAL POWERZ or SUPA SMART SKILLZ

2) Characters what have big fightan skillz nd are all gruff like.

3) Characters what look like characters from the Japanese cartoons.

4) Characters what are from the video games or from the Japanese cartoons or what are from the movies. We have a hole fandom forum thingy for that plz keep them in there.

5) Theme songs what are just your favrote song.

6) Teenage characters what have dead/missing parentz.

7) Self inerts so u can be in da st0ry!

8) Antagonists what are INDESTRUKTIONABLE!

9) Characters what have backst0rys what are TO BE REFEELED IN DA RP which r not REFEELED IN DA RP.

10) Characters what are BICYLESEXUAL. (Saucepansexual counts too)

11) NPCs what are just there 4 tha characters to show off there FIGHTAN SKILLZ.

12) Characters what r gud wit GUNS or SORDS nd carry around a speshel GUN or SORD

13) RPs what are set in the SCHOOLS. Seriously. Like 90% of RPs take place in some academy.

14) Characters what are under 21. COOL KIDZ AMIRITE?

15) Puttin gifs of ur character in tha RP. Just stop.

16) Characters what have personalities what can be summed up in one word. 'Angry', 'strong', 'bossy', etc. It's dull.

17) Characters what can CONTROL PEOPLEZ MINDZ but what get tired or something after.

18) Characters what are dicks for no reason except cuz it says so in their CS bio.

19) Characters what are VAMPIREZ or RPs what HAVE THE VAMPIREZ. Cuz they SUCK

20) Los caracteres que son cute, sensitive teenage boys >.< XD

21) 2 characters what fall in the love after knowing eachother for like three days.

22) Characters what are actually just Sonic the Hedgehog.

These ideas can still work fine with a little extra creativity or tweaking from experience - just keep in mind that they've been done hundreds of thousands of times before.

a Psychopath could never get far as an assassin, they just are not empathetic enough for the job. a huge part of assassination is being able to blend in as well as being able to interact with and understand normal people, a psychopath doesn't have the understanding to do that. they could be a serial killer, but they would never get very far.
