RPers can play normal people or "angels" / "demons." Angels or demons are people born with "outsider" spirit's in their bodies that grant them super powers/magical abilities. These are typically people from age 15-30. Competing organizations try to get their hands on these individuals to propel their own interests. Sometimes they struggle with controlling the being inside of them.
Intro:
400 years ago a powerful force incinerated half the Earth. Man has taken to the stars. Spread out across the solar system, humans continue to eke out their existence on moons, space stations and asteroid belts. Some have built high functioning societies, still others attack small colonies and commit atrocious acts of piracy. As time marches forward rumors grow of mutants, secret powers and an evolving humanity.
Some know the truth. The concepts of heaven and hell have filled the pages of most Earthen societies. Whether they are aliens, or beings from another place entirely is unknown. But the beings that humans once called “angels” and “demons” have begun to seep into our plane of existence. We do not know if they are good or evil, we do not know what they plan to do. They are simply here, they look like us, and they live among us.
This story takes place on Platform A-1 or Atfakia. In 2237, the United Nations commissioned the creation of the A-Class Orbital Inhabitable Zone (OIZ) as a “gift” to the Palestinian Community after years of strife in the Middle East. Since then, much has changed. Roughly, 22 miles across, Atfakia houses 17 million men, women and children. Atfakia is one of the few complete human societies left in the solar system. Atfakia has 5 sister OIZz. One has gone dark. The other 4 range in size and population density.
Here are some institutions that shape Atfakia, its sister platforms and the small clusters of space stations and societies that float around Earth and the solar system at large.
Atfakia Defense Force (ADF):
The ADF is comprised of 30,000 professionals. The ADF is by far the largest and most effective Defense Force in the Solar System. Despite this, the ADF suffers from a lack of funds and personnel. Jobs in the ADF range from pilot to intelligence officer to the ADF Special Operations Warfare Division ADFSPECWAR. Three four star generals lead the ADF.
Office of Unified Intelligence:
The OUI is a shady intelligence organization which most average citizens know very little about.
Various other institutions:
- Terrorist organizations to include pirates
- Military Academies
- Collegiate and High School Level Academies (reserved for the “well off”)
- All other institutions in a normal functioning societies
Atfakia
Atfakia is a semi-democratic society rife with corruption. There are 10 districts. Atfakia is a massive sheet of metal with a giant miss mosh of domes on top of it. Cities expand up and across these domes.
- Districts 1: District 1 is the only district that actually receives any real sunlight. As suburban as an OIZ can be. This is where the rich people live
- District 2: Middle Class communities
- Districts 3-8: Slums and the lower classes. The majority of Atfakia lives here.
- Districts 9-10: Government property
