Realistic or Modern The Arrangement

Luna gently took the glass, her eyes already softening with relief. She sipped slowly, taking a deep breath.
"No plot here, I can already tell how simple it must be to get you in bed."
The words held part of a joke but also an accusation, something she just couldn't help but point out.
"I think we should get to know each other more. Is there anything you'd like to know about me? Or more importantly, anything I should know about you?"
Her legs crossed and she sat back further into the couch, getting relaxed as she continued to drink her sweet wine.

Damon took a sip out of his own glass of wine as he listened to Luna speak, considering the question as he let the sweet wine rest on his tongue before swallowing with that signature smirk crossing over his face. "Well if you must know something about me I guess it would be..." he let his voice trail off, building up suspense. "That I wanna be a lawyer." Of course, it didn't sound like it was worth the suspense, but there was a reason for the dramatics. "But my dad wants me to inherit the business. And with the hours I can only do one or the other, so I'm giving up my dream for his. Tragic, isn't it?" He moved a little closer to Luna. "Maybe even tragic enough that you'll let me pick up where we left off to forget the pain of it all for a moment?" He asked, taking her hand in his with that smug expression on his face, fully expecting her to turn him down though it was fun to be a tease nonetheless. Luna_Marie Luna_Marie

Luna licked her lips as he spoke, watching his body language and picking apart his English. Luna knew plenty of lawyers, some really nice people and others were not so nice. She couldn't decide which category to put Damon in. Her fingers tapped against her thigh until he grabbed her hand, that stupid grin on his face.
"Ah ah ah, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...You will not be getting anything else tonight Damon. What happened earlier was a lapse of judgement, and it won't happen again."
Her own smug lips spread into a devilish smile and she put her lips beside his ear.
"But there is something you should know..."
Luna whispered seductively.
"I also like to play games."
Her breath blew across his ear gently with every word and she pulled herself back, leaving her hand were it was and taking a sip of wine as if it never happened.

Damon let out a breath, trying to keep his composure as Luna attempted to beat him at his own game. He couldn't allow this, and so he moved his hand up, grabbing her chin and turning her head gently so he could look into her devilish eyes. "Luna, dove, you underestimate me." He paused, thinking for a moment, or pretending to think anyways, letting his words sink in. "You can play games, but you can't play my game. You wouldn't stand a chance." He leaned in closer, lowering his voice. "I always win." His words came out breathy, letting the heat fan over her face, wanting tension to build, giving in a long moment to create an atmosphere around them in the quiet, and then he let her chin go, staying close to her, waiting with that smirk on his face for her to make the next move. Luna paused herself and tried to keep her heart in her chest. Nerves were getting to her and she was shocked. Luna had never been one to be nervous, but then again, any of Luna’s other relationships hadn’t been a long term goal kind of thing. This was someone she was supposed to be stuck with.
Her eyes faltered momentarily with a brew of fear, excitement, sadness, and lust. She placed her hands on his chest and turned her body to face Damon, sitting on her knees.
“And what exactly is your game, Damon? What is hiding in the darkness of your eyes?”
She pressed her chest against his and looked deeply into his eyes, the window of his soul. Her words growled out as she searched his eyes, her fingers drumming impatiently against his chest as she took soft breaths.

Damon chuckled, leaning back over to side of the couch, pushing himself away from the tension in the air at such a question. He had always been a good liar, but this was a serious thing she was asking about. His game was to steal all her money from her and run. Something he didn't even want to do. He didn't want to be poor either, though, and so he had chosen to obey his father- not that he had much choice in the matter anyways. "My game? Well that's for me to know and you to find out." He winked, before reaching for the bottle of wine and taking a sip right out of it, not bothering with the glass anymore. He wanted to get somewhat drunk tonight if nothing else.

"As for the darkness in my eyes, that's just their color, Dove, nothing important there." He nudged her, laughing at his own joke before drinking more of the wine, determined to keep the next however-long they were stuck together that night light and upbeat. "So, why don't you tell me about how much you're dreading marrying me?" he asked, thinking it might be better to change the subject entirely, to push away from the intensity of his own game for a bit. As Damon moved away, Luna fell back and slipped her legs out from beneath her. She slowly pulled her dress back down and watched him sip from the bottle.
“Dread? Well that’s a bit of an understatement. I might as well be dying. There are so many things I haven’t gotten to do, things a single woman is supposed to do at least once before she gets taken as a wife.”
She let out an exasperated breath of annoyance and crossed her arms in a slightly childish way. She may be mature and cultured, but after all, Luna is still a teenager, at least for another year.
“What about you? How much of your life is being ruined by having to marry me? I’m sure that the thought of spending your life with me is unbearable.”
Her head tilted and her eye lashes batted slowly as she watched him with curiosity. Luna’s demeanor as she waited was similar to a feline, watching prey.

Damon glanced at Luna, shrugging at her question towards him. What about him? All his life he'd been taking one for the team so what was one more life-altering decision? Of course, it didn't help him to hear how much Luna despised the idea even though he already knew she would. He almost thought it best to agree with her, since in all honesty he'd never planned on getting married. But what would happen if they both agreed to hate the choice their parents made for them? Wouldn't that make it even harder to go through with this?

"I don't mind all that much," Damon finally said, looking over at Luna as he spoke. "I mean sure, I never planned on getting married, but if I'm stuck with anyone at least it's a beautiful girl with some personality." A grin broke out on his face before it faltered into the slightest hint of a frown. He was ruining her life just by marrying her, apparently. How could he drain all her money too? "So, what is it you want to do that you can't when you're married?" he asked, deciding that frown could play more on that comment than on his inner guilt.

Luna narrowed her brows in disbelief at his ease with her questions. There was no way he could be so simplistic about all of this. When he fired back at her, she already had a mental list of why this marriage was ruining her life.
“Hm well what about going out? I cannot just go out and do whatever I want with whoever I want anymore. From this day on, I constantly have to behave myself and act like a proper wife. No clubbing, no romances, no trips around the world, plus, mind you, everything that is mine automatically becomes yours and vise versa, meaning I will never have anything just to myself... Hell, I wanted to go to College before I got married, but that’s obviously not going to fucking happen. I haven’t even truly gotten to live on my own yet, something I should be able to do!”
She frowned with a huff, still going through the list of all the things she won’t get to do.
“Ai! I just barely got out from under my fathers thumb, now I have to be wedged back under another mans.”

Damon listened as Luna spouted off more than he had expected her to, and glanced away from her for a moment, letting her wrap up before catching her gaze once more. "Luna, I'm not your father. I'm not going to stop you from doing anything you want to do. Go to college, go clubbing, we'll go together around the world. We can have a fun romance. Make some shit up. I'll be whoever you want me to be." He smiled at her, moving a bit closer now. "And if you want your own space then fine, we'll build our own house, and we'll make sure you have a huge room just for yourself and I'll never go in it, okay?" He almost felt bad. He was smiling, holding her hand, acting almost excited about fixing all the problems she just listed off. He tried not to touch too much on how everything would be shared though, since that was the whole goal of this game in the first place.

"And for my sake, please never act like some housewife," he sneered the word, pretending to be disgusted with the idea of it to make her laugh. "You can't travel the world with some boring old housewife, can you?" he asked, hoping if nothing else he'd cheered her up just a little bit, gave her something to thinking about. And if all that wasn't consolation, maybe the fact that he wouldn't be like her father would be. Luna_Marie Luna_Marie

Luna watched Damon’s body movements and his lips as he spoke to her. His words made her heart flutter slightly, and she imagined them pictured in her mind. The thought of this all working out made her happy but felt like a bunch of bullshit.
“Well those are very nice thoughts.”
She moved closer and her eyes closed gently. The young woman whispered softly and hesitantly, fearing her own words.
“Do you think we could ever grow to love each other, Damon?”
Her lips could almost brush his and she slowly felt herself pull back, by centimeters. Luna was wishing to be able to go into this arrangement happily.

Damon had grown caught up in the moment, in the proximity of it, in the heat the radiated and rushed off the both of them, intertwining in the tiny space between them. He thought he could kiss her, thought he could turn this into a night of lust that would end up going just as he planned... but then she had to ask.

The question made Damon hesitate, but he knew he had to cover for himself. He couldn't drop out now. The answer to this question might have been crucial to how the next few months went. So he rested his hand on her cheek and looked into her eyes, hoping she hadn't taken notice to how uncomfortable he was. "I think love comes in a lot of different forms, Luna. I don't know if we'll ever be in love with each other in some husband and wife sort of way, but maybe in another. Who knows? The possibilities are endless. And we have a whole future together to figure it out." He grinned, before tilting his head slightly to close the centimeter of a gap Luna had made in hopes a kiss would derail the conversation. She was unsatisfied with Damon’s answer, but she knew she would never get the one she wanted. That just wasn’t the way the world worked out. Luna sighed sadly but decided that she needed a distraction. She pressed her lips to Damon’s and kissed him gently, his still tasting of wine. It lacked the fire that had been present previously, and was instead replaced by tenderness and melancholy. A few moments later she pulled away and looked off to the side, her eyes in a dreamy state.
“Perhaps it is getting late, no? Maybe it is improper of me to be so eager to be intimate with you. Not very appropriate.”

Damon almost laughed at Luna's sudden worry of intimacy, but managed to settle for a snort as he shook his head. "We're going to be married soon, dove. All we're going to do is be intimate." He winked at her before getting to his feet, reaching for the wine bottle for one last sip before setting it back on the table. "But if you want I suppose I can go fetch my mom and dad and we can leave." He took a step towards the door. "And you can stay," he turned back dramatically, a playful look in his eyes. "And we'll be separated by miles of cityscape for hours on end." He continued to drag on his charade, if for nothing else, then for the humor of it. "Oh dove, I don't know if I could make it that long without you." He threw his hands on his heart, feigning a sigh. "Of course, you could let me spend the night and then I wouldn't suffer at all," he added with another wink, chuckling at his own dramatics as he leaned back against the wall, waiting for her reply. Luna looked up at Damon and couldn’t help but laugh.
“You are quite the trickster, but unfortunately, I see right through you. Never in your life will you ever be able to trick me Damon Day.”
She stood and crossed her arms with a tilted head. Her amused smile graced her lips and eyes, relaxing her.
(Sorry it’s short, I’m tired as hell)

Damon stepped back over to Luna, resting his hands on her waist and smirking down at her. "Oh we'll see about that, dove," he cooed, before leaning down to kiss her once more. He took his own sweet time with this kiss before pulling away, though he didn't bother to move from her side just yet. "Are you sure you don't want to re-think? You'll be breaking my heart." Even as Damon said it, he smiled. He liked Luna, and the games they were already playing, and it almost made him feel bad for the scheme ahead of them. He was sure he'd never see that amused smile again after he wiped out her bank account. Luna_Marie Luna_Marie
(You're good, go to bed lol)

She smirked and drummed her fingers against his chest.
“While I have had lapses in judgment, my standards and virtues are still intact. Maybe another night.”
Lunas lips held a coy tease and she slipped out of his arms and opened the balcony door.
“Shall we? I’m glad you have a driver, because knowing my father, the whole lot of them down there are wasted under the table.”
Her eyes twinkled mischievously and she passed through the door, heading down the hall with her hips swinging softly. The light buzz in her head made her feel light as air, but wasn’t enough to take away her dancers balance.

"Oh I'm sure they are," Damon agreed, following after Luna down the hall. He knew his father would take expensive wine wherever he could get it, though perhaps his mother would be smarter and opt out of the the ten glasses his father's had probably had by now. "And you should know that other night is going to be tomorrow," he added, now moving to step ahead so he was in the lead, so he could have the satisfaction of knowing she was seeing his smirk as he walked by while managing to never make eye contact with her. "I have the perfect date in mind. No parents invited." He started down the stairs, before pausing for a moment, listening for the direction of the drunken laughter. It was embarrassing to be able to hear his father's laugh, knowing he was drunk, but he ignored that for now, looking over at Luna once before heading to the room. He didn't bother knocking, just pushed the door open to tell his parents it was getting late. They both seemed slightly shocked by his lack of manners, but stood up to leave anyways, saying their polite goodbyes before starting after Damon.

He led the way towards the room, before turning back to grin at Luna one more time. "I'll pick you up at seven. Look hot." He snickered, before opening the door, glad to leave for the night even if he did have an idea of the poor conversation that would ensue when they got home. Luna_Marie Luna_Marie

7759733A-BBC9-4472-9B39-CBC9688A11EA.jpeg Barely seconds after the Days left her fathers study, he fell soundly asleep with Schnapps induced dreams. Luna followed Damon and his parents out the door and rolled her eyes at his comments.
“So it’s a surprise then? I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She liked how he took charge of it all, but it also gave her lack of control which made her nervous. Luna leaned against the open door frame and watched them leave, a sigh escaping her lips. Without realizing it, she was staring sadly and longingly at the departing car. When she could no longer see them, Luna turned and went back inside and up to her bedroom. After preparing herself for bed, Luna lay staring at the ceiling, reviewing the insane night and wondering what miracles Damon Day might bring tomorrow.
......
The morning had passed uneventful, mostly consisting of Luna practicing recipes while anxiously staring at the clock. When the time to get ready rolled around, Luna dashed upstairs and rummaged through her closet. Finally settling on an outfit, she changed and scampered off to do her hair and makeup. After an hour and a half, she was fully ready and nervously waiting in the living room. She checked her phone and the time every few minutes. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but something about Damon made her crave him. Luna couldn’t wait to see what surprising events he would spring on her.
