Vampire In-Training
When the Sky People come back to earth to get more supplies only to find that there are Grounders still living down there, they have to assume that the Grounders are dangerous. It is a race to the mountain in order to obtain the weapons that are there. Who will get there first?

It had been a month since the people from the sky landed in trikru territory. Of course, it didn't take long for their commander, Hecate, to lean her people into battle against the people from the sky. Spies had told the commander and her council of the mountain that held numerous amounts of supplies: supplies that the clans could use for better survival. Who did these sky people think they were?

History taught Caius that the people of the sky were the descendants of the rich and governing people of the old world. The very people who abandoned them as a nuclear war erupted. generations of leaders made sure everyone knew of the people who abandoned them on earth to die, so that if they ever returned... revenge could be sought out. For how could the sky people know that there would be underground survivors of Old Earth?

When it came to the thoughts of Caius, he felt like the only one who understood that the people who fell from the sky were NOT the ones who left them. Starting a battle only meant the death of their own people with strange weapons known as guns. Weapons that worked ten times better than the bow and arrow he was trained with.

That was the weapon choice of the evening while he sat far up in a tree that loomed over one of the sky peoples camp. Cauis wasn't meant to be there, especially on his own, but he couldn't sit there and wait for an attack from the sky people. Instead he wanted to watch and learn from them. Ignorance, Caius believed, was the reason so many of his people were killed. They wanted nothing to do with guns or technology- and yet they were in a race to the mountain for supplies? He scoffed at his commanders orders in secret. She was not leading them to survival, so he would survive on his own.

Cain fingered at the holster for his pistol that sat on his right thigh, he hadn't been able to get in much practice for the past week. Johnny was the leader around here and he didn't want anyone to be firing off bullets when they were in danger of being attacked by the grounders, 'these people may not have the guns that they have but they are not incapable of harming us' that is what he reminded them of every day. Cain was tired of it, he like to fire his gun and get his anger out. That was the only thing he was really accomplished at, to take away his marksmanship skill was like taking a bears size away or a porcupines spines. He remembered reading about both of those in one of his school books back in middle school. The earth used to be so full of these strange creatures that he had never been able to lay eyes on for himself. He groaned and reach down into his right leather jacket pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, he tapped it roughly on his wrist and then pulled a cigarette out.

He didn't have a lighter so he walked over to one of the small fires that had been lit in their camp and shoved the end of his cigarette in it sucking in deeply before the fire died out. "
I'm going for a walk fella's, gotta smoke" he groaned, knowing that no one was listening to him anyways. He was the one that was sent out to patrol most times, but it was another mans turn since Cain had been taking most of the shifts; There were some pansies in camp that whined about having nothing to do since 'mr. tough guy' wanted to do it all himself. He laughed as he walked towards the exit of the camp, he was tough. No one here could stand up to his will. Although, he wasn't the strongest fighter he did have the strongest determination. He shook his head and kicked at a rock and he walked outside of the camp into what was quickly become a darkened forest shadowed by night. It wasn't cold, he wasn't sure if it ever actually got cold here. He wasn't counting how long they had been there but it felt like forever. Johnny didn't want to let him go and explore because his gun skill was too much of a necessity, what a load of shit he thought as he inhaled deeply and then blew out the extra smoke. "Ass hole" he grumbled as he leaned his head back and looked up at the darkening sky "at least I got this view."

Up in the tree, Caius did not expect a forth sky person to walk through the woods. He had been so focused on the watchmen that he nearly jumped two feet in the air when he spotted the lone being out. Between his lips sat a strange looking pipe... at least, it acted as a pipe with its glowing end and smoke drifting through his mouth and nostrils.

Idiot.

It was that kind of thing that would get him spotted for sure. The sky person was lucky Caius was not the vengeful type. Had any of his clan been out here, the boy would have been taken out before he took the first puff.

Still, something drew Caius' attention towards him. Perhaps it was the sense of loneliness surrounding the figure, or maybe it was the fact that he took wanted to get away from his clan. Did this person not agree with what their clan was doing? Or were they suicidal; waiting for someone to hunt them down.

'Only one way to find out,' thought Caius. His large figure slipped out of the tree, landing on the ground with a soft thud. His body cloaked with a mesh of dried fallen leaves that hid him between the shrubs of the forest. His bow strapped onto his back, retrieving the small dagger that rested upon his hip. Step by step he slowly moved up behind the boy- careful to keep watch for the rest of the sky people.

As he approached, the tip of his blade would touch upon the boy's neck, while he free hand went to smack over his mouth.

"Shh," Caius whispered. "Answer my question, sky person, and I promise not to harm you." Peace was not exactly what Caius wanted... but he didn't like this pointless war. "I will let you go if you promise to follow me."

Okay, so he didn't expect the boy to actually just follow him without any questions... But to prove himself, Caius raised both his hand in the air and took a step back. That is, unless the boy squirmed away before he hand the chance to do so.

Cain had a few more puffs out of his cigarette before he heard a thud nearby. He let his eyes glance to the side before bringing his attention back to his cigarette. If he was to be attacked by a grounder then so be it, at least he would get some gun practice in. It could have been one of the strange animals that lived her that made the thud, but it was getting late so he doubted that it was an animal. He fought back the urge to shrug, he had gotten a lethargic state of mind lately. He hadn't been enthused about much of anything anymore. This stupid war between these people was such a drag to him, there was no way that either side was going to win at the rate that they were carrying on now.

He felt a dagger behind hi and took one last puff of his cigarette before dropping it on the ground and stomping it out. He turned to look his assaulter in the eyes, he knew it wasn't a person from the sky; none of them would have the nerve to stick a knife to his back, they would be feeling the consequences of it in the morning.
"Yeah, whatever" he shrugged and turned around to walk forwards, if this grounder had wanted to kill him then he wouldn't have made his presence known. If he was intending on taking him prisoner then at least Cain would learn the exact path to get to their camp, he was fast so he could get away pretty quickly. Although, he may just be getting cocky and he could die instead. Oh well, at least he wouldn't be stuck in such a drag all the time. He was actually getting quite tired of his camp anyways. He had talked to a few of the people in camp about spreading out and building another camp but of course they shot his idea down, they wouldn't even let him go hunt the animals because their meat might be poisonous.

He walked for a few more minutes away from their camp and then stopped, turning towards the grounder that he wanted to lead him away from their camp.
"Now, tell me what you want" he scowled at the grounder and looked him dead in the eyes "quickly, before I lose my patience." Although he was pretty lethargic most of the tie as of late he still had no patience for people who wanted to beat around the bush.

Caius was shocked to say the least. This was far too easy, but he took the opportunity anyways with a small triumphant smirk in the corner of his lips. Perhaps the sky person understood that Caius had no intention of killing him. Or... little intention. As much as he desired peace, he was not above killing someone who was trying to kill him. Especially when he trusted few.

The dagger lingered between Caius' fingers, pointing it towards the sky person in front of him.

"It's not so much what I want, but perhaps what you want," he said with a sigh. As if the boy had the audacity to think he was in charge of the situation.

Caius let his eyes trail along the boy's lanky and thin figure. He had little, if any, muscle on him. And his attitude said he was far too cocky to understand the honor of battle. When it came to having the upper hand, the sky person had the shorter stick.

"I have no desire to hurt you, that much I can assure you." He appeared intellectual, communicating with ease in the native tongue of old Earth. However, that was the way it was for all warriors. "In fact I wish to help you in a way."

There was a long pause after that, as if Caius was trying to figure out how to word things. "Both sides have lost many people. Bloodshed is something I wish to end. I cannot do this by myself, of course. You people from the sky wish to make a home here but the land is claimed by my people. Perhaps if a fair trade was given, then we can work something out." His arms folded across his chest. "The supplies in the mountain can benefit both of us- but if things keep going the way they are, no one will get their hands on what is inside there. I need a sky person to help me convince their people to offer a treaty."

The more he explained himself, the more he doubted the idea was going to work. This boy looked like an outcast compared to the rest of them. Could he do it? Did he even want to? Caius wanted to believe he could. After all... He too was an outcast from his clan.
