It's fine, although I would prefer if it were in third-person. The italicized parts are fine since it would be the character thinking to himself. One more thing, just relax, whenever posting something, be confident in it, this is your post, people want to read it. Just remember that it's your post, not mine or anyone else's post, it's yours. So just kind of roll with it, only change it if the GM tells you to.

i'd vote for roleplaying out the drive over, it'll give us more time to kinda expand our characters a little bit before we jump right into the thick of things and it flows better instead of doing such a large timeskip so early on

I'm okay with either options. Though, if in the end it is decided upon rping the ride out, then we shouldn't make it too prolong so that Thatch won't be left out. Unless @Stew already has a plan in such a scenario.
