Fandom Terraria: Journey In The Otherworld

“Are you insane!?” Christian asked the voice, beyond surprised it thinks he and his friend could take on that... thing. “We’re but- but normal men! We can’t fight that thing!”

“You are right, my little Terrarian. You can’t. Not yet, anyways.”

The voice rebutted, still speaking in this calm and mysterious tone of voice.

“My Terrarians. For now, it may not seem like it, but you two hold great potential. Potential that I have never seen in a long time. You may not be ready to face Yog-Sothoth, but with enough practice and preparation, you will slay this damned creature. You will free the world of its guilt and fear of the end. For I have chosen you two to be the champions... of Terraria.”

"Whoa, whoa, there's no way we can do that... I don't know who you take us for, we're not your heroes!" Teruya insisted. "We're not who you say we are - what do you know?!" Teruya added, his rage piquing in 'we can't do this, no way'.

“You may say that, but I know you and your friend have potential. You and your friend will soon unlock for yourselves. Now, it is time to rise from your slumber. Go forth... and be prepared. Terraria depends on you.”
As soon as the voice finishes what he said, Christian and Teruya suddenly find themselves woken up in a cold sweat. As they quickly get their bearings and wake themselves up after having such a weird ‘dream’, Christian slowly peers his head at Teruya with a blank, but clearly surprised, expression. “Did you... ever, like...” He tried to begin.

"...Experience this weird dream with this ominous voice talking to you?" Teruya asked, holding his head with one of his hands as he would make an attempt to stand up and process it.

The pupils of Christian’s eyes suddenly dilate in sheer shock when Teruya said what he was thinking. “... Yyyyyyyes. You experienced it, too?” He asked. “I did, but you were there, too. But... I couldn’t see you throughout that dream...” He noted as he wiped the sweat off of his forehead.

"Same here - I could hear you, but not see you. It was... weird." Teruya shuddered as he recounted it, and then, he looked around. "...Speaking of, uh-" And then he noticed the torch was still alive. "...What in the world is going on."

“What, whaddya mean-” Christian said initially before he turned his head to see what Teruya was seeing: that torch they lit from yesterday. It’s... still going? “Whaaat the ffff...” He trailed off, shocked a little. “What the hell is going on in this world?”

"Must be something regular in this world, I guess... That's still really weird though, if useful..." Teruya said honestly. "...But, hey, it ought to be morning out... Best we get exploring, huh?"

“I mean... sure-” He said before he was interrupted by the knocking of the door. He sighed. “Oh, my god, if it’s a walking slime guy knocking the door, I’m gonna break something.” He snarked, putting his fingers around his nose in frustration.

"Save the breaking for when it's actually warranted." Teruya headed over to the door and rolled his eyes. He would open the door a little to peek through the gap between the door and the wall connected to it, to see what was at the door, while he held his dagger.

"Yeah, just making sure I don't get jumped first thing in the morning." Teruya said jokingly and seriously, now fully opening the door. "Nothing special, just being wary. I'm good."

FCAAF4DB-8621-4EA6-BCA3-C03A4034E5C6.jpeg“Ah. Nah, it’s okay. Being cautious in this world is not a bad thing to do.” He assured as Teruya opened the door. As he entered, Teruya and Christian noticed that he was holding something: a plate full of, at least what seems to be, chicken nuggets! “Who wants nuggets?” He offered, presenting the plate to the duo. “Ooooh, I’d like some!” Christian exclaimed, reaching his hand over the plate to get a handful.

Teruya saw them and gasped. "Oooh, those look nice..." He laughed and would intend to reach out as well and put his dagger aside. "First and foremost - never do anything on an empty stomach!" Teruya said simply as he did so.

As they grabbed their share of the nuggets and took a bite of them, they all felt a sensation of plentiful satisfaction. The spices and meat of the nuggets were absolutely delicious! “Oh, my god, this is amazing!” He notes, rubbing his check.

Teruya let the taste sink in and he had a similar reaction of joy - closing his eyes and smiling widely. "Hoo boy, this taste...! How in the world did you even make these things?" Teruya asked eagerly.

“Oh, it’s real simple.” The Guide began as he took a bite of the nuggets himself. “You see, when I woke up in the morning, I was intending on cooking some fish when, as I looked over the remnants of the crashed airplane, I saw a harpy trying to claim one of the dead bodies.” He stated. This... rather weird introduction caused Christian and Teruya to stop eating out of weirded-out confusion

“Since I felt like I should eat something different rather than fish every day, I fired an arrow at the harpy to kill it, then I skinned it, then I chopped one of its legs to form those little nugget shapes, and, finally, I pan-fried them in the furnace!”

He finished with such morbid excitement, like it was a normal thing to do. Horrified, Christian just slowly eyed at his half-eaten chicken nugget, now with the knowledge that he ate a piece of meat from a Demi-human being.

And, it is in that moment, Teruya's frown slowly began to crack, fall, and no longer exist. "...Oh..." He said bleakly, shuddering. "I... don't like how you were so calm and positive saying that..."

“Well, I’m sure it’s not every day to try out something new- you’ll get used to it.” The Guide shrugged, still in his calm mood. “Now, what were you guys intending on doing today, if I may ask?”

Teruya thought about it and nodded for a moment. "I was personally thinking of going on a little venture - not sure where to go here, but it's probably a good idea to see the world you're stuck in, no less get used to it, right?"

“Hmm...” The Guide pondered, rubbing his chin for a second to think a suggestion. “Well... I suggest you two explore the caverns of this world first,” He exclaimed upon reaching his first thought. “There are plenty of resources hidden in these places, from top to bottom. They’re quite common!”

“Er... how common, may I ask?” Christian said. “Well... a couple of days ago, I saw several pots and a chest hidden in a land formation just head of this house.” The Guide answered, pointing forward. “They may contain loot that would help you two on your exploration!”

"The caverns, you say...? Several pots and a chest, not far from where we are... And underground in itself, I imagine, is full of bounties, too." Teruya thought aloud, seeming to think on it.

“I mean, it is the underground,” Christian bumped into Teruya’s pondering. “Where’d you think diamonds and steel grow in? The skies?” The Guide laughed at this comment. “Funny you should mention loot in the skies...”

Teruya merely laughed at them both. "Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, the possible land in the skies - though probably implied - will have to wait." Teruya said simply, and as if on cue, he began to head towards where the Guide spoke of - to the chest and the pots.

Christian sighed. “Well, best if we get goin’. We probably have a long day ahead of us.” He grabs his copper tools and heads out for the door. “Thanks for your, Uh, attempted hospitality with food.” He merely said to the Guide as he leaves the house. “Hey, I know you enjoyed the harpy nuggets. It’ll just get some getting used to.”
