[div class=text][div class=text_header]something else | hauls me through air—

⁺ [div class=text_background]Hi:
there. I'm [div class=text_background]Bones[/div] and this is my search thread. It's organised into four sections: About me | Looking For | Pairings | Plots . Click the tabs (the lil' green circles) above to navigate.

If, like me, you're struggling to read large bulks of text at a time, you can just read that in [div class=text_background]bold red boxes[/div]. This is the KEY information. There is no 'test' for seeing if you've read everything. I ramble. Spare yourself.

You can skip the first section (this one) if you like, as it'll just be me expositioning my not-so-tragic backstory and the usual bullshit. Plots will keep a running overview of the plots I'm currently searching for for RPs, along with a brief description of each. For the full plots, should any catch your attention please scroll down, as they all will have their own individual post where I go into detail.

[div class=text_background]About Me[/div]

I am [div class=text_background]22[/div], an English nancy, and I've been rping for, what? 10-12 years? I've been in for the long-haul, let's just put it like that.
I've been into all sorts of rps, from the trashy romance crack to the elaborate grand sweeping narratives, through all the time periods, and so on. Right now though (perhaps due to the similarly scary state of things) I am really craving some [div class=text_background]horror.[/div] Work I've been doing for university and media I've been consuming in my free time has often centred around the uncanny, the unsettling, or just the downright horrific, and thus it would seem I've done my prep work for the current lockdown situation. A few pieces of media that you may notice have influenced my [div class=text_background]current cravings[/div] are (provided so that, if you are familiar with any, you might feel similarly inspired): Suspiria (Movie, 2018); The Magnus Archives (Podcast); Annihilation (Book, by Jeff Vandermeer); The House of Leaves (Book, Mark Z. Danielewski); The Outsider (Book, Camus); Perfume (Book, Süskind).

Outside of RP, I am a [div class=text_background]queer[/div] and tired [div class=text_background]transmasc [/div] human who is also currently a key worker and a university student, so I'm still one of the busy ones. I am a hot slut for all things space related, and I'm also a sucker for political intrigue, so a lot of my past rping as been somewhat mass effect or game of thrones esque. This search will actually constitute my first foray into writing horror, so I hope I prove up to the task.

Oh, and I think as the Sylvia Plath quote above (from 'Ariel) probably proves, I'm a pretentious twat of a human and loves living for the drama and the AESTHETIC of it all (darling), so expect over the top, expect moody, expect some Dark Academia vibes. If I'm self-aware, it totally isn't lame— right?

[div class=text_background]Looking For

I'm looking almost exclusively for [div class=text_background]horror rps.[/div] Be they uncanny, unsettling, cosmic, or gore, it's pretty much going to be spooks from here on out. The only exception is some [div class=text_background]ABO vaguely historical shit[/div] thrown in on the side under pairings.

I'm tired and gay, so I'd want to do [div class=text_background]minimal planning[/div] before beginning. We can get more in depth once we've begun and got a few posts in, I just need that initial dopamine hit to see me through.

I'm looking for someone who is [div class=text_background]18+[/div] to RP with. Not because I wish to write particularly sinful things with them, but rather because I am just so old and tired on the inside. I don't have the energy to be interesting to someone younger than that. (Bold of me to claim I might be interesting to anyone of any age, but hey, got to try prop up our failing self-esteem somewhere, don't we?)

I will expect anyone who would do me the honour of RPing with me to write [div class=text_background]2+ full paragraphs per post[/div]. This might relax a little once we're past the initial few pages, but one-liners don't appeal to my inner pretentious bitch, so I'm picky in that way. In terms of a maximum, there's no hard limit, but maybe try not to average higher than eight per post. Like I mention in the previous section, I'm a key worker still equipped with university essays; be gentle with my tired soul.

If there is to be romance, make it gay. [div class=text_background]MxM[/div] is my primary love affair. I can be persuaded to do FxF and I accept NB characters shipped with any and all genders. Additionally, I love, love, (repeat, LOVE) poly ships. 3-person relationships are my one true site of adoration, but I'm always open to groups of 4-5. I fear anything above is tricky for me to keep track of, but please, I am always (always) open to persuasion.

In terms of [div class=text_background]OOC[/div], you don't HAVE to ramble at me, I know I for one find small talk tricky in these lockdown times, but you're very welcome to. If I'm ever short with you, it's probably because these be strange times we're living in, not because I don't appreciate the rambling.

You must be comfortable with RPs and OOC banter containing the following content: bad jokes | swearing | graphic violent content | overly florid descriptions | queer shit | abbreviations and text speak (OOC only, unless our characters have mobiles/email/etc).

In regards to [div class=text_background]frequency[/div] I ask only that you can post [div class=text_background]twice a week[/div] minimum. For a maximum, you may post as much as you like, and I will reply when I can. You can expect the same standards from me.

[div class=text_background]Ghosting.[/div] These are weird as hell times we are inhabiting, and I for one know my mental health and general capacity to function are struggling. So if you need to ghost, you ghost. I would appreciate a note just letting me know you're bowing out, no need to tell me why, just so I can keep track of what I'm doing with my rp life. Likewise, I will aim to always notify you if I elect to leave a rp, for whatever reason.
[/div][/div][/div][/div][/div] [div class="tabsContent tabsContentthree" style="display: none;"][div class=tabinfo]
[div class=text][div class=text_header]of the neck I cannot catch
[div class=text_background]Pairings

I'm not particularly in the mood for writing any romance RPs at the moment. If romance factors into the RP, it'll play a background role, and the primary focus will be the world / the spooks. As such, this list will be fairly limited. There is a separate list below the first for those pairings catering to having ABO (Alpha/Beta/Omega) mechanics in play, though I'm always open to ABO mechanisms being applied to any universe.

* n/b for those unfamiliar with what ABO means, just ignore that part.
* I should also specify that pairings do not always mean 'romance' in the healthy, sweeping sense. As shall probably become clear shortly. The following list is a little dark. Welcome to my brain during the apocalypse.

► Priest with a military background x Leader of a demon/entity-worshipping cult who has come to 'make use' of the priest's town/village
► Possessed Individual x Their Exorcist
► Unfortunate Traveller x The Monstrous Creature they mistake for a dog feeding on roadkill
► Depressed Petrol Station Worker x The Entity that comes to haunt the desert in which rests their workplace
► Horse Ranch Hand x The demon/monster causing a witch hunt in their small town
► Spurned and Under-appreciated Detective x The Possession Victim/Unwilling Psychic they are forcing to help on hunting down a supernatural conspiracy the detective is obsessed with neutralising
► Psychologically Disturbed Individual who can communicate with the dead x Individual who is trying to solve the death of their family through the other
► New Tenant of a Haunted House x Whatever is haunting it
► Socially Ostracised Small Town Hick x The Thing That Lives in the Lake
► University PhD Student + x The Undergrad Student who may not be entirely human

[div class=text_background] ABO Dynamic Pairings [/div] ► [aka the Crimson Peak Rip-Off] A, An Omega recently married after a very, very short courting and engagement period x B, the Alpha they married, into whose (haunted af) home they have moved, and who is absolutely in this for the Omega's fortune x C, The Alpha Twin sibling of B, who simultaneously loathes (and perhaps loves, or at least lusts after) A.
► Heir to a throne who is concealing their Omega status out of shame (an omega monarch! the scandal of it!) x the Beta bodyguard who helps keep their secret x the Alpha courtier (rival court preferable) who finds out their secret
► The Omega Agent to the throne who seduces rival courtiers and nobility to extract secrets and information x Their monarch who has been begrudgingly in love with them this whole time

Our characters compose the members of a team of restoration artists, architects, and construction workers who salvage old sites of historical and artistic value, for an appropriately large fee. Their latest assignment is in an enormous building about two miles out from a village. The team is provided with living quarters in the old dormitory of the monks who once lived there, and food is delivered twice weekly by a village shop boy who is entirely mute and refuses to look anyone in the eye. He leaves as rapidly as possible.

The team has been told that the building was once a monastery and an adjoining cathedral back in the renaissance period, and that it later came to function as an art gallery. Work has been going on near two weeks now. The workers are familiar enough with Christian works of art and architecture to realise that this is not the catholic place of worship that they were expecting, exactly.

It would become clear shortly after the beginning of the RP that this place is not quite natural, so to speak. Not only will it be haunted by the restless spirits of those who have passed there, but time and space seem to distort in the hallowed halls and grounds of the Cathedral; time loops, shifts, vanishes; the corridors, halls, and staircases are not how you remembered them; and perhaps the most unsettling part of all is that the statues are, you could swear, moving. This would be a mix of cosmic, uncanny horror that would devolve into/blend with some more monstrous, bodily horror. Probably with some demon/entity worship thrown in.

Character A has just moved to the village of Brackisbeare in England, escaping a past life that they have no wish to hold onto. They've plenty of their own internal ghosts to be working through when they arrive in their new home. Brackisbeare is a tiny, remote village, more a hamlet really, situated out on the moors and several miles from any real civilisation or decent phone reception. It's not exactly well equipped with anything modern, but it's certainly got the rural charm part down.

As Character A settles in and recovers from their past trauma enough to get a better sense of where they are, they begin to notice how the villagers watch them. They treat A with a kind of strange fascination, most avoiding ever talking with them, though those that do do so with a kind of unsettling relish. The parish priest is perhaps the most... irresistible of these strangers with strange gazes, in a fashion that is hard to place. Like a centre of gravity.

This will be a perfectly cliche 'village is a collective of cultists who intend to sacrifice the outsider to some entity' vibe, probably something living in the moors. It'll just feature lots of sublime countryside aesthetics, the cold, the slow uncovering of what has been happening there, and the intense, definitely not healthy but perhaps a little distant relationship between the main character and the priest who will, one day, be tasked with leading the ritual sacrifice of A. I'd likely play the village and priest in this, though I'm open to playing A as well.

Character A is a social outcast in their small town. They feel mighty bitter about their rejection, and have plenty of people whom they'd happily see killed. In fact, it's something that they feel so strongly about that when the offer comes, they'll accept it.

A finds this one day/evening when sulking down by the lake, mulling over whom they'd like dead, imagining it in detail. Then, from the water appears a... creature? Person? Entity? A being who asks if they really mean that, if they'd really like to have those people killed. The entity (B) asks whom they would most like to see dead first. They promise to kill them, but in return they will take something from A— a finger, perhaps, their eyes, their voice. Not from them, exactly, but rather the entity will gain it for themselves as well. They have always wanted to look less monstrous, supposedly.

B slowly accumulates A's features whilst slaying A's spiteful 'enemies'. It becomes known that A is supposedly cursed in the town, and people no longer treat A with revulsion/cruelty, but rather with fear. High on the power, A at first doesn't notice that B has almost perfectly mirrored them. They only notice when B starts inhabiting their life for them. First, they do so by doing things A hates doing anyway, framing it as an extension of their current relationship. When B starts romancing A's town love interest though— well, then it crosses a line.

And all the while, A and B have been having an increasingly intense, almost incestuous relationship; a kind of narcissistic fascination and love affair that's underpinned with a cold kind of self-loathing.

This world is filled with eyes. Eyes in flowers, eyes in the wall, eyes in the grass beneath your feet. You know it hasn't always been this way, but you know why it changed: before, people conducted too much in secret, and it lead to mass violence, ecological destruction, and cruelty. Now, people are seen. Held. They don't do such bad things anymore. Being seen makes people kinder. It's all you've ever known; only the elderly still alive remember any different.

The eyes are not cameras; they are organic, human(like?) eyes. They are not controlled or looked through by humans. You're not entirely sure who (or what) witnesses you through this world of eyes, but in general, those watching you are treated as a kind of army of angels, or gods. They are generally discussed as if they are benevolent, humanity's salvation. The younger generations believe this. The elders say it with a kind of tremble in their voice.

Our characters can be anyone in this world, but I'm currently inclined towards having them be boards at a same gender boarding college. People live in collectives now, privacy a thing of the past, and your college is one of those collectives for young adults under twenty-five just coming into their own. It's an idyllic time of relaxed day classes, wandering the grounds, and exploring the company of those around you. The eyes are something you're used to.

Then, on an impish trip beyond the borders of the college grounds, the characters find deep in the forest a cave. Going into this cave puts an end to the 'idyllic' part of their lifetime.

The 'thing' in this case would probably be cosmic-horror esque in that it cannot be fully perceived or comprehended. The body of horror would come from the voyuerism, which would in some way shift and change the subjects it fixes in its gaze, subtly. We can kinda feel out where this one goes as I have no concrete end in mind, and am less concerned with having set answers to what is happening as playing with the themes and unsettling uncanny aspects.

honestly my horror loving queer lil heart can't choose which one I like best. I'm open to RPing any one of these with you!

Hello! I really love your concepts! I was interested in either working with The Body('s) Walls or The Water Cure, depending on which one you'd be more interested in using.

I have work and am moving back to see the parents for a bit this evening, so though I’ll endeavour to message everyone ASAP, it may not be until tomorrow. Thrilled to find interest for all these weird cravings and thank you for expressing your interest.
