Arcane beings with the appearance of humans made their debut years ago. These creatures enter our realms through Rifts, inconsistencies in the Fissure between our world and theirs. However, to continue the story here, we have to go back several trillion eras: To the dawn of the universe, when the first elements were created in the forge of nothingness.
Already, the prime trunk of the Tree of Infinity had started to separate. This Trunk represented the prime reality of time and space and every time it split, a new reality was generated. This process went on infinitely, exploring every possibility in every one trillionth of one trillionth of a second in every alternate reality, a process that lasted infinitely and branched infinitely out. Already, there existed two realms simultaneously in one reality, a byproduct of the Tree of Infinity. If these realms were to clash, it would result in complete omission of that branch, which would be disastrous. It would act like a disease, spreading to every other branch and eventually the trunk, destroying the time-space continuum as a whole. Very, very big consequences. Therefore, a natural Fissure was formed: A veil between the two realms that protected them from each other.
However, Fissures can never be perfect. There will always be inconsistencies in the Fissure: When it's spread too thin and too taut to hold either realm, or when it's so thick it alters reality. This was exactly the case in our story. Both sides of the realm have expanded significantly since the Dawn and now the Fissure is constantly breaking and tearing to expose Rifts. Fortunately, Rifts have only been located in rural or lesser known areas. This occurred out of pure luck, but we can thank our deities for this. For if the human race were to discover these Rifts, they would explore. As a naturally curious race, they would wander to their deaths.
These beings have ascended far past us in evolution and knowledge gathering, possessing far superior intelligence and knowledge in arcane arts. The first being to enter was careless, displaying his powers openly in the public, where it was filmed and spread, quickly becoming viral. Making a debut in Tokyo, Japan, the being, a well-built man with long, white hair and glowing red eyes, had been dubbed a 'King' by the internet. He rose to fame because he literally blew up a manhole cover and levitated out of it, only to be stuck in the opening because of his large, bulky armour. He then proceeded to cause the entire section of road to collapse into the sewers below, flying out freely, laughing maniacally.
Of course, finding 'Kings' was now the trend. People went searching and Kings started appearing more often. All of them were smart enough to close the Rifts they exited from. This newfound knowledge of the Fissure had them astounded. They could open and close them as they pleased, because they were just that powerful.
As for their name, Kings had unimaginable powers of sorcery. They possessed the power to command anything that existed other than other Kings. Kings have the power to mention any verb while targeting one or more entities (organic, synthetic or otherwise) and these objects will do as the Kings please. Dance, Eviscerate, Bind, or Hold: These are all commands the Kings can issue.
However, the Kings have one weakness: They need to be exposed to outside magic at least once every week if they want to survive. They cannot rely on their own magic to sustain their lives, they must have exposure to the magic of other Kings. The best way to do this? Tavern brawls. An underground syndicate called the 'Kings' Tavern' was formed by these Kings, featuring an environment in which only Kings were allowed: An already-existing alternate space compacted within the given reality. In here, the Kings were allowed to destroy each other in brawling matches using their Magic to fight. They issue commands on the environment around them and fight each other with many goals. One, entertainment, Two, survival. Three, beating the shit out of each other and comparing which person is more injured after both have been exposed to as much Magic as they require to survive.
On the Issue of Commands

When Commanding, you must explicitly state the entity you target or your Command will not go through.
If the Command is vague (such as "fly"), the entity will do as they are commanded to the best of their ability (i.e. flying randomly).
Only one-word verbs are allowed as Commands (no "fly left").
You may use other weapons aside from your Magic.
