Other Tattoos?

So, I want a tattoo...More than one actually but yeah, I've wanted one for a long time but I'm so fucking terrified of it hurting too much, The first one I want would be on my wrist...

SO FOR THOSE WITH TATTOOS

How would you rate the pain scale for a wrist on a 1-10 scale?

Also, feel free to share your tattoos down below :3

Pain is entirely dependant on one's personal threshold for such things. I happen to have a high pain tolerance and experienced nothing but comfort strangely enough. I have a few pieces now, my most recent stops just above my wrist.

I do highly recommend getting one if it's something you truly want. Though it can be very addicting. That arm will be sleeved by the end of the year. >_<

Whoops.. thought it posted the picture.

There it is. :P

I know the feels. I want a tattoo as well. Only two thinks are stopping me, not knowing what the pain is like and not knowing what I want done.

Tattoos are a pretty big commitment. I would suggest doing a bunch of research beforehand into an artist you can trust, who works in a shop that's super clean and professional. Once you have a design you love, sit on it for a while. Put it up in a place you can see it every day, and see if you get bored with it; that's a good litmus test for whether or not you want it on your body permanently.

When it comes to pain, it depends on body location and tattoo method. Ribs, ankles, elbows, anywhere on the skull - all these are areas where bone is closest to the skin and is therefore usually more painful. Usually; this isn't true for everyone, and all pain thresholds are different. Tattoo methods vary too; the pain involved in traditional hand-poking depends on the tattooist. My artist was very experienced so mine was nothing bad at all. Hand-tapped tattoos, like the Polynesian variety or Irezumi, can be very painful due to the traditional tools employed, but I'm led to believe they're a hell of an experience. The usual modern method of an electrical tattoo gun is the most common, and your comfort depends on the experience your artist has with skin, and the body location.

The tl;dr here is that I would suggest finding a tattoo artist to talk to, and bearing in mind it's unusual for people to be completely overcome by pain with modern tattooing. So I wouldn't stress too much.

I was planning my sleeve since I was 13 or so. I'm 25 now and it's still not done. You'll be thinking about it even as its in progress.

Yup. I've been slowly designing something for my back over the course of the last three years.

I have two tattoos, one on my calf and one on the front of my thigh, and both are /very/ large and included a /lot/ of shading. I'm absolutely terrified of pain and although both did hurt to a degree, I did nothing more than a light bit of squealing and a lot of laughing. To me, the needle gun felt very much like cat scratches.

Like the other have said, pain is relative. However, the wrist is a sensitive spot because the skin is so thin. I assume because of location and the fact that this is your first tattoo that it will be something relatively simple with a lot of line work instead of shading, soooo... It really shouldn't be too bad and will be over quickly. I highly suggest bringing a friend or two with you to hold your hand, keep you calm, and keep you laughing! It will help out enormously!

I have over 9 tattoos (hip/side/back/forearm/foot/shin/lip/etc)! I cherish and love every single one of my tattoos, and will never regret them. I have a little one on my inner forearm, and the only thing that really hurt was slight pinching (and I don't think I have very high pain tolerance hehe). BUT - I have my entire foot done and my shin, and HOLY MOLY that was one painful dude. I think you will be just fine. Ask if you can bring your phone and just concentrate super hard on something super duper intense on your phone and you should be fine (mind over matter type thing).

I don't have a tattoo and never will.

However, my cousin has many, many tattoos. He enjoys the way getting a tattoo feels.

How it feels depends on the individual.

I have two wrist tattoos. They line up with my thumbs. For me, the pain was at a 2, until it reached the bone, which went to a 5. It wasn't a sharp pain, more awkward. But, the tattoos were just a tad bigger than a quarter, so the pain didn't last long at all.

I have another one behind my ear and it didn't hurt at all. If anything, the sound was way more terrifying. *laughs at herself*

This is when they were freshly done. <p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_03/tatt.jpg.fbcf2e33fbdab9694512b3704ae3f5af.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="114581" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_03/tatt.jpg.fbcf2e33fbdab9694512b3704ae3f5af.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>
