Tales from Precinct 13

Grey

Dialectical Hermeticist
“This is bullshit,” Krauss exclaimed, wiping his brow with his cap.

Lane sniggered and snapped a photo. “Human shit, actually. Attack must've been right about here, cut the poor fucker in half.”

Krauss frowned, fingering his pistol. “Poor. Right. He was running meth, Lane.”

Lane shrugs. Fresh out of school and head full of crap, Krauss thinks to himself. At least he's keeping his lunch down - little too well, frankly.

“Drugs don't make you evil, sarge. And I wouldn't wish this on anyone.” Lane says, eyeing the techs collecting body parts.

Krauss stares into a disembodied eye, glistening in a pool of coagulated blood atop the dumpster lid.

“Yeah," he breathes in a stream of cigarette smoke, "let's see if you still feel that way in ten years.”

Precinct 13 is a small office. Budget cuts have seen most personnel transferred to other parts of the city – richer, whiter ones, mostly. Now there's only a dozen souls left to hold the thin blue line. But there's worse out their than pimps and pushers, hiding in the darkness. A lot worse.

God-Machine Chronicle. Police station staff only. It will be some time before the horror elements transcend the mundane, so bring strong characters and patience.

Any requirements on character concepts?
Not really. Would appreciate a couple of detectives, specialists, beat, and maybe a civilian volunteer.

The building used to be a bigger, more important station, so there's still a functional if slightly outdated forensics lab.

I'll need to go through my notes and refresh myself on what is feasible, but so far you're clear for the detective.

Important questions for your characters:

1. What is the worst thing you have ever done?

2. What is the worst thing you can imagine yourself doing?

3. What is the worst thing you can imagine someone else doing?

4. What is the worst trauma your character has suffered?

5. What have you forgotten?

Look, you've heard of me, I promise. You may have heard of State Senator Richard Carmichael, my Dad, or the Real Estate Mogul, and my grand-dad, Eric Carmichael. I'm Mercy, and I'm here to escape from my family. I have a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, and just graduated from the Police Academy. You probably read about it online; my family turned it into a circus. They're probsbly why I got sent here, as far from the action as possible.

I promise that I'm not just here to upset my parents. I wanna help people in more ways than just throwing money at the problem. I'm not looking for special treatment, or anything; I'm like any other officer.

1. What is the worst thing you have ever done? I left my drunk best friend at a party, that I drove to, so that I could go score with an underwear model... She still won't talk to me.

2. What is the worst thing you can imagine yourself doing? I could totally see myself shooting someone if I had to.

3. What is the worst thing you can imagine someone else doing? Hurting someone for no reason. The struggle is real and just like adding to that suffering is crazy.

4. What is the worst trauma your character has suffered? Ever hear about how bad "Dance Moms" are? Or those stupid Asian Stereotypes about crazy obsessive moms? Yeah, my mom fits that image. She pushed me throughout figure skating, the flute, and school. My lowest grade ever was a B+, and I was on the shortlist to be an alternate for team USA.

5. What have you forgotten? Mostly history courses, and my ex-best friend's name. If I knew what I forgot I wouldn't have forgotten it.

I'm kind of interested, if you're still looking for players. I don't suppose its possible for me to play someone working in forensics?

If I get enough character concepts to indicate to me the players are serious, this will launch. Forensics should be fine, I just need to do a little research on how that's handled in US police departments (and also in what ways it is fucked up that I can exploit).

If you could give me an idea of relative size of the station, I could narrow down a character type. How many staff there, for example? How likely is it someone could be a specialist, or would we be wearing many hats? And demographics would be awesome ~
