Devon is a huge man, usually towering everyone else in the room. A scar runs through his right eye from his time as a Paladin. He can usually be seen wearing a beanie, a jacket, and an overall most of the time. His face is scary, and his attempts to smile often only make it scarier.
Personality:
Devon is a simple man; He will do what he believe is right and will not do what he believe is wrong. It is wrong to call him rigid, but to Devon, his own belief is more important than the opinions of those around him. He has a kindly nature when he is free to do so, but not when it comes into conflict into what he believe. His strong sense of responsibility also stems from his principle to follow what he promised to by a long run. His straightforward nature also makes him blunt as he speaks and makes it difficult for him to lie convincingly. He goes around this inability by shrugging off the topics most of the time, but it doesn't work as well as he thinks it is.
Apart from his self centred belief, Devon would never try to kill anyone that is weaker than himself. He has no problem killing animals and the like, but when it comes to sentient beings, he is sure to hold back. It may come across as pity, but he just feels bad about killing people - Thinking about his family back home - and making those that love them grieve. His
Birth Place:
Mistral
Settlement: Aivu
A settlement within Mistral's reach. The city of Aivu is a place that harbors far less gang activity than one would expect but despite this there are still a few gangs or groups that exist and tend to have a skilled knack in avoiding Paladin or Sentry efforts to bring them in. Law enforcement seem lucky to run into them often, never so great at capturing. It's become a habit to where Aivu's been nicknamed "Playground City"
History:
Devon was born in Aivu, the city where petty gangs roam freely and Paladins had given up catching them. He lived with his Ma and one big sister and one little brother at a poorer part of the settlement. Even as a kid, Devon was large. His huge body helped to keep others away from him, although those that try to mess with him ended up as bloody mess. His family made a living by dyeing wool threads into various colour, but since his clumsy hands messed up more often than helping, he was banned from doing that and was told to just take care of his little brother.
When he turned 17, he decided to went out of Aivu and looked for work on his own to lessen the burden of his family. Not half way out of town, he saw a chase scene between a Paladin and several tattooed kids, who seemed to have taken the Paladin's wallet. Thinking that working as a Paladin, chasing around bad 'uns and punks wouldn't be so bad, he applied to the academy.
Several years later, Devon graduated as a full fledged Paladin.
The pay was good and he enjoyed fighting people. Devon mostly took requests related to the capture of criminals and crime organisations, and when those type of requests didn't pop up, he took it to himself to research into existing criminals. This act was outside of his jurisdiction, but Devon didn't really care; Crimes' gotta pay, I'm gettin' paid, he said. This attitude troubled the upper high at times, but since he took care to never turn his independent research into a huge incident, they let him be
It was on one fateful day that by chance Devon researched into a slave organisation named Trigger. He was 25 at the time. Young and ambitious, he boldly decided to join the group in order to tail it, as the group was larger than what he could handle. He was responsible for guarding the slaves before auction, and he took the job earnestly. The more trusted he was, the better his chance of uncovering crucial information.
During this infiltration, by chance, Devon got to know Naomi, also a new member of the Trigger Vanguard. Bit by bit, the two of them got closer. Devon told her about his Ma back home and how he wanted to give her money. Naomi told him about her children...
As the day went on, Devon started to forget about his original plan. Although he became a Paladin before, what he had to the title was responsibility. When he got to know Naomi, what he felt was more than pity or kindness. He truly, from the bottom of his heart, wanted to protect her. He fell in love with her.
That was how Devon earnestly joined Trigger Vanguard.
