Futuristic Survival sci-fi rp

(Do note my grammar and spelling are not the best. Also this is based mainly around story and not combat)
The year is 2087, and earth has been ruined by war, pollution, and raping of natural resources. Space-craft. and terraforming tools were invented, and sent into space which led to the terra-formation of mars, and relocation of the surviving population (3,786) of people to be moved to a small colony on mars. Now humanity struggles to fend off the new lifeforms that the terra-formation gave birth to, while managing problems within the colony itself

I had a couple questions:

How long have the people been living on Mars. Would our characters remember life on earth?

Is this RP going to be simple or casual?
