I mean potentially, but to what end? Why would Aliens do that, unless you are under the assumption that they have nefarious intent

I have a theory that they don't want us to know they are there. Because of an alien unspoken code of conduct. Do not interfere with life progression on a home planet. We are simply not developed enough to have outside contact. They are studying us and have been since mid evil times!. Perhaps they are a peaceful species and are waiting for us to eliminate our conflicts and put a end to war?
