Fantasy Supernatural Teenage Drama

"Is that so," Ryder muttered, unfazed. He chose Yoshi Falls and snickered. "You've got one hell of a big mouth," he commented. "Let's see if it's justified." As the countdown began, Ryder made sure everything was set to work smoothly, from his controller to his posture. "This is my favorite track," he remarked idly, maneuvering with the expertise of an experienced Mario Kart-er.

Dexter scoffed dramatically. "What? And you don't?!" He exclaimed, waiting for the track to load up. Dexter glanced back Ryder, noticing that his posture changed. 'This is gonna be too easy.' He said internally, ready to set his plan into motion. He raced fairly well considering it was so long ago. He quickly got used to the controls a bit, him falling behind slightly as he did so. He made up for it by using his items more wisely, always seeming to get ahead of CPU drivers without being hit with an item himself.

Ryder kept the lead for the majority of the race until they neared the end of the final lap, where he was blue-shelled by a CPU. "F***ing Toad. I f***ing hate you," he hissed as he finished in third. "He's not even a toad. What a fake." Ryder shook his head as disgust as set down his controller, sighing. "You win," he admitted, holding his hands up in surrender. "Both the game and the bet."

Dexter zoomed passed him as he was hit, finishing in 2nd place, unable to go any faster to stop said Toad from beating him. He rolled his eyes in annoyance, now remembering his obsession with always coming in 1st place. He quickly got over it after seeing Ryder rage. He looked at him questionably, confused with why he gave up so quickly. "What went up your as*? We still have 3 more tracks to do. Where's the fun in winning so easily ?" Dexter said with a hint of mocking in his tone.

"Nah, man. It's past final bell now. I promised Alec I'd help him look for Hara once school's out." Ryder stood up and stretched, adjusting his shirt so the open sides weren't twisted. "I'm pretty sure he wants you to come, too." He held out a hand to help Dexter up. "Who knows? You might help him get info." He mentally swore as he realized that he'd forgotten to get Alec's number. He didn't know where they'd be meeting.

"Oh!" Dexter gasped, forgetting that he turned his phone off by accident. He turned the power on as he was lifted up by Ryder. Once on, he went to Alec's portrait where he pulled up his number. He leaned into Ryder so that he could see. "Here you go." He enthused. "Now you owe me too favors, now?" He mocked, clearly knowing the answer.

Ryder narrowed his eyes at him before copying down the number in his phone. "I mean, I helped you when you fainted, and also when you were about to freeze your skinny a** off, so..." Snickering, he dialed Alec's number and waited for him to pick up as he opened the door to leave. This trip would likely last the rest of the day, if not longer. They had ought to hurry.

Ryan shrugged his shoulders when he looked at Rob, "I could probably have Seth create some tone note machine thing...we could all test it out". The teen's gaze shifted to the sleeping baby, "We'll probably have to wait until his current project is done though".

Alec answered his phone as he grabbed a flashlight. "Hello?" He asked. He wouldn't need the flashlight himself, but Dexter probably would once it got dark. "Who is th- oh. Dexter give you my number? Anyway. Meet me by the north corner of the dorms. Any chance you know where Miuna is? She wanted to come."

Dexter stared at him blankly, clearly discouraged. "F*ck, your right." He admitted with a frown. He glared at him again after having thought of something he forgot about. "Did you forget that time I saved you from those assh*les in the hallway? So as far as I know, you still owe me." He said matter-of-factly followed by another wink. He followed Ryder out the door, kind of wishing that he wouldn't have to use his powers, if he could help it.

(It didn't post my reply from about two hours ago D: )

Ryder cast Dexter an irritated look and rubbed his neck, focusing his attention on Alec. "Roger that. Miuna? Uh, I don't know, man. She's always hanging around the back of the school, so you could try there. Apparently there's a cemetery or something." Ryder jogged down the hall, nearing the exit. "I'm like thirty seconds away, so we can look for her and the others together." He hung up and glanced back at Dexter to make sure he was keeping up before stepping into the broad sunlight.

Alec hung up and leaned against the side of the building, waiting for the two. When they appeared, Alec tossed the flashlight at Dexter. "Here. For when it gets dark." Straightening up, he walked towards the back of the school. He knew where the cemetery was. He'd found it years ago, but hadn't returned often.

Dexter kept an equal pace with Ryder by walking directly beside him. Dexter was a runner, so he would've probably past him up if only he knew where he was going at the moment. He listened to the conversation while he was deep in his head at the same time. That same familiar burst of pain flashed inside his mind and disappeared at the mention of a cemetery. Dexter winced, but he played it off by massaging that area to make it look like he was scratching at a very itchy part of his scalp. Once they met up with Alec, he gave him a random but friendly bro-hug, not getting to do so considering the stuff that happened. He grabbed the flashlight and remained close to both boys, knowing his skills in combat were limited. Dexter internally grew worried, having a gut a feeling that he would have an episode like he did at the infirmary. He remembered Miuna mentioning that a spirit had a hold of his mind, and wondered if that would have any effect on him. He imagined there being a lot of spirits at the graveyard which unsettled him. It was like another reality, with a LOT more people around than you could imagine. He shuddered at the thought of having to deal with so many whirlpools of emotions if he didn't have a strong emotional blocker set up in his mind. His expression was troubled all during the trip to their destination.

Ryder shoved his hands in his pockets and jingled his keys. "We goin' for the other group once we got Miu or nah?" he asked Alec, a bored expression crossing his face. He wanted to get it over with already so he could avenge his Mario Kart reputation, but he kept these thoughts to himself as they headed towards the cemetery. In the distance, Ryder caught a faint, yet familiar voice speaking to itself. "How about that," he muttered, increasing his pace.

Miuna swung her legs as she sat on the stone bench next to Yuki's grave. "There aren't as many people here today. Is there a festival? I wish I could go. Spirits have so much fun without the living." While there weren't as many human spirits as there normally were drifting around the halls and in the classrooms, there were just as many creatures roaming all over, from white-tailed deer to pterodactyls. There was still a small chunk of humans as well. Probably around 200. "I can't tune them out when I'm here, Yuki. They won't let me."

Alec tipped his head, unable to make out exactly what Miuna was saying. Deciding to give her warning they were there, he called, "Miuna?" before stepping out of the trees. As they entered the cemetery, the hair on the back of his neck stood up. In his animal forms, he could sometimes catch faint glimpses of spirits- but only the most powerful ones. In his human form, he couldn't. Animals were more sensitive to the spirit world.

Miuna's gaze jerked in Alec's direction. Despite all the noise from the spirits, she could always distinguish a living person's voice from a dead one. "Are we leaving?" Miu asked, slipping her eyepatch back over her spirit eye. "Where are the others?" Leaving her schoolbag on one of the graves, she drifted towards Alec and lightly poked his chest. "Some spirits were laughing at you. They said your shoes didn't fit right." She glanced back at the other two boys and waved with two fingers.

Ryder smirked at her statement about Alec and waved in return before shoving his hands back in his pockets. "We're about to go get them," he explained as they started back towards the school. "Any idea where they are?" When Miu shook her head, he shrugged and ran a hand through his damp hair. It was worth a shot.

"The others? I didn't invite anyone else. I thought it was just the four of us?" Alec asked, ignoring Miuna's statement about his shoes. "The larger the group, the harder it'll be to track Hara down." He shifted his weight back and forth, clearly eager to leave. He could track best in his wolf form, but then he couldn't carry Dexter with them.

Ryder raised an eyebrow. "Oh? I thought you'd invite Jackie for sure," he teased with a snicker. "Well, whatever. Let's go." He shifted into the anthropomorphic four-legged creature he was used to and stretched his legs.

Miuna nodded and whispered a simple command to her spirits to carry her. They groaned, but complied and she was lifted a half foot off the ground. Most spirits could affect the human world if they wanted, but only for short periods of time. She could switch them out when they grew fatigued. "Which direction?"

Alec shifted into a wolf first and moved into the woods, slow enough for Dexter to follow on foot. After he picked up the trail, he shifted into a lion and looked back at his friend. 'Come on then. Let's go,' he said, eyes glinting in the dim light. He crouched down and waited for Dexter.

Dexter was on edge, and so he stayed silent most of the walk. He could sense that Ryder was impatient about something when he allowed his mind to read his emotions out of curiosity. He concluded that he probably anxious to get back home. Dexter glanced back at him but turned away quickly, trying to hide that side of his face by pulling on his beanie. He looked in the direction of the voice that sounded off in the distance, he automatically assumed it was Miuna, able to make out her tone and pattern of speech; he increased his walking pace. As he approached her, he copied her finger wave and laughed out loud when Alec didn't respond to Miuna's amusing statement. Dexter stared at Ryder in awe at his transformation, not exactly knowing that he was able to do that. "Heh, you look kind of cute in this" he am stated with interest. "You're like the Scott to my Stiles."he adjusted his glasses modestly, secretly proud of his spot on comparison. He could sense that everyone else was ready to go, he felt the same way. He sensed an faint and unusual presence as Miuna was carried by the spirits. He shrugged, beginning to get used to and accepting the strangeness that was Miuna. He followed Alec at a reasonable pace after he transformed as well. He took his beanie off and stuffed it into his pants pocket, not wanting to get his hair messed than what it already was; he felt like such a bum at this point. "Alright, lead the way, I'll keep up." He assured ready to sprint or jog depending on how fast Alec was going to go.

'Okay then, if you really want to stay on foot,' Alec said mentally, shifting back into his wolf form. He trotted off, pausing occasionally. A tuft of black fur caught on a branch, claw marks where he had leapt over a stream, faint paw prints... Alec found them all. But when the scent trail split into two paths, Alec stopped in confusion.

Dexter followed Alec in a fast-paced jog, regulating his breathing to take his mind off of things. He slowed to a halt whenever Alec paused, he didn't say anything until he stopped for the last time. "What'd you find" he huffed between breaths.

Alec circled, clearly agitated. 'He didn't want anyone to track him. He's covering his trail by circling back. I don't know which way he went, and knowing Hara, the circle will lead us on for miles.' He continued searching the area, trying to determine which trail was the real one.

Ryder hissed at Dexter when he called him cute. He wasn't a cuddly wolf like Alec. If anything, he looked like a mutated human whose leg growth was stunted. Their situation wasn't any less than what he would've expected, but it still frustrated him. 'Should we split up?' Ryder asked, pawing at the ground in anxiousness.

Miuna lowered to the ground and tapped Alec, careful not to startle him. "You sure you don't want me to ask the spirits? They can give us a direction. If we're lucky, they might even find his exact location." She tied her hair up in a ponytail and waited for Alec's response.

In this form, when Alec looked at Miuna, he could vaguely see wisps floating around her- spirits. The fur on his shoulders stood up instinctively, but he relaxed and considered what she'd said. 'A direction. I just need to know which direction he went.' Alec resuming pacing in a circle. Glancing back at Dexter, he asked, 'You sure you'll be alright?'
