Before Hel could reply, Thor spoke again, this time he did however sound slightly worried "If my father was still alive, we might have been able to do something." Odin had after all been a god of magic, among several other things. But now... Thor did not have the knowledge, or skill, to make sigils like these. Nor did any other god he knew of. He turned to Hades "Do you know where Hypnos' wife is being held? If she is their prisoner, she might know something. And I wouldn't mind interrogating one of these mortals either, after I have butchered the rest of them."

Hel then proceeded to suggest "We could try to weave more magic and create more sigils to reinforce the deterioating ones, it may at least buy us some time." She knew they could not match the archangels, not in their current comparably weak state, but it would not hurt to try.

Hades thought for a moment, " Pasithea is in Erebos the realm of darkness within the Underworld. I wouldn't recommend a god of heaven such as yourself venture there for too long. Your radiant presence could irritate some very nocturnal beasts. I can see if Pasithea is up to meeting with you, She's been in a coma to recover since she's been retrieved. In the meantime I've had Hecate studying these Sigils. Perhaps my pantheon's goddess of magic can come up with something. As for the humans that captured Pasithea there were no survivors, but that won't stop us. Thanatos sent their souls here. In an attempt to garner more strength I've also begun having Thanatos send any souls he reaps to me rather than Heaven or Hell. It may be an abuse of his position of Death, but desperate times..... Speaking of which Thor." Hades said hesitating for a moment as if he were deciding if it was a good idea to say it or not.
"After your interrogate the souls I request that you return to that Colony, Vitae I believe it's called and assist them in retrieving my beloved Persephone. As much as I would love nothing more than to rip the earth open and steal her away again for her safety there are rules I must follow, warning signs I have to declare, before I can appear on earth. Two weeks Thor, two weeks of warnings and then I will retrieve her my way." Hades said knowing he would want to protect as many of the mortals as possible.

Mackenzie smiled and flushed slightly as William suggested they figure out what this was together. It was a pleasant thought, never had she thought this sort of thing could be in the works for her. Too long she had been alone and content to be that way, that she simply never accounted for actually caring as much as she did for another person. She shifted slightly, free hand reaching behind her to remove the still cold ice pack. "Either this has done it's job, and I'm numb." She tossed the towel wrapped pack onto the coffee table, "Or the booze has done the work instead. I can't feel it pulling any more. How does it look, Doc?" Of course she couldn't see the wound herself, save for when she stood with her back to the mirror. She'd done this once early on and regretted it immediately.

She reached for her glass to dip at the whiskey while she let William determine how well (or poorly) she was healing.

Ashley-May headed out of the REC center and towards the Command tent where the rest of Brendan's Elite were gathering as requested. Once within the tent she quickly looked around for familiar faces and really only found the three men that had gone to New York with them. She frowned slightly but then figured that William and Mackenzie would not be included; she knew Brendan had not wanted them to be a part of the last mission, and Elijah was laid up.

She found herself migrating towards those that she knew: Bruce, Aiden and Thomas, while she waited from Brendan to arrive and give his orders.

William chuckled, reluctantly releasing Mackenzie's hand before leaning in to take a closer look at the injury site. He'd already given it a once-over in the kitchen earlier, but it paid to be thorough. He didn't particularly like the idea of conducting a medical examination while "under the influence" -- in fact, he was pretty sure that was against an oath he'd sworn at some point -- but it couldn't hurt to at least check.

"The inflammation has come down quite a bit," he remarked, as much to himself as Mackenzie. "The sutures seem to have done their job... now that someone has decided to take it easy... well, easier," he said lightly. "It shouldn't be long until your body takes over the healing process completely. I don't see any signs of infection," he continued, struggling to keep his tone professional in spite of his intoxication. "But have you noticed anything strange? More tenderness than before, warmth around the injury, that sort of thing?"

Will paused before adding. "You mentioned numbness last time. Has any feeling returned since then?"

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie rolled her eyes as William commented on her taking it easier. She was glad to hear that she should be healing soon, she only wished it would be sooner rather than later, they were just over a week until the expected attack from the Pack on Vitae, and with her back as tender as it was, she knew it would only get torn open again during that night. There wouldn't be any chance that William or anyone else for that matter, could convince her she would be sitting out.

She gave a slight shrug. "Not that I've noticed, no warmth and it's always been sore." This was nothing new, she didn't expect there to be no pain after the fact, he mentioned the numbness and she shook her head slowly. 'Still numb, good part of my back, right around the center there just no feeling at all." She knew there had been parts of her back that had been deeper than others, and it would certainly not be the only place she'd injured and now faced permanent numbness.

William nodded at the answer, his lips pursed. The center of her back was where the lacerations had been deepest; he had hoped that she would regain sensation there, given time. The fact that she hadn't yet wasn't good news. It meant the cuts had gone deep enough to permanently damage the nerve endings in that area, possibly beyond repair. The good news, such as it was, was that the spine was intact wasn't to blame: Will had checked on that the night of the attack as best he could and the Clinic had confirmed it during their procedure. Still, nervous tissue was often the last to heal after an injury... if it ever did.

Will slowly pulled the hem of Mackenzie's shirt down. She was the last person he wanted to tell this to, but he had to be honest with her. "The numbness means that the nerves in that area of your back were damaged. I don't have the training or equipment to confirm that, or to treat it. In all honesty, I doubt the Clinic does, either." He sighed, taking up her hand again in both of his before locking eyes with her. "Any chance I could convince you to see a specialist when all of this blows over?"

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie shifted onto her side once Will was done with his examination of her back, dark eyes watching his; he was clearly worried for her health. He spoke about the numbness and she gave a slight nod, she understood, and it was no surprise that he nor the clinic would be able to treat it. He stunned her at the suggestion of seeking a specialist's help after all was said a done. A slow smirk crept across her lips, her hand giving his a gentle squeeze. She was about to give him an off handed flippant remark about no time, or that sort of healing was for people who had lives that mattered but she stopped herself, the smile fading slowly. "You could persuade me to at least consider it." She said quietly, surprised at even herself.

She knew had anyone else asked her this, including Ashley, they would have been rebuffed, even told that she wouldn't be around after this was 'done.' She had a mission now that she knew this was Borseti, confirmed it was her family, they needed to be ended before they could take more. If they survived the coming onslaught and were able to keep the pack at bay, it would mean their numbers would be decimated and she would have chance to free her brothers from the wolf. She just didn't know how she could tell Will.

William searched Mackenzie's eyes after his question, watching for any sign of resistance to his suggestion. In all honesty, he expected it. The sly little smile that crossed her features didn't do anything to convince him otherwise... until she spoke. "You could persuade me to at least consider it." William froze, taking a moment to process the reply. No dismissal, no brush-off, just an honest consideration.

I'll take it.

William chuckled, nodding. "Good answer," he murmured, leaning down to bring his lips to her own. He drew back reluctantly -- not far -- still looking down at her. "By the way, about earlier... you weren't making me uncomfortable. As far as I'm concerned you, Miss Canonach, officially have my permission to make me 'nervous' whenever you like," he said, a mischievous smile forming.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie was more than pleased with herself that she managed to get a laugh, all be it small, out of William. More over, she had been rewarded for the affirmative answer with a kiss. Who ever said positive reinforcement doesn't work was a liar. She mused to herself; seeing Williams reaction only made her want make him happy, again and as often as possible. He lingered close by, her dark eyes trained on his lips as he spoke. "officially have my permission to make me 'nervous' whenever you like".

At this Mac arched an eyebrow with interest, eyes turned up to look into his own, her smile spreading, delighted. "I will take you up on that." She promised. Already her thoughts turned to rather inappropriate circumstances where she could possibly make him uncomfortable. Lips sought his again, tasting the whiskey they'd both been drinking, and she had no doubt it had been the causation to a great many things this evening; even the possibility of more. She shifted a top the couch, bringing herself up to sit at it's edge, her knees between his own. Free hand fell to his knee, giving it a gentle squeeze as their lips parted. "Are you sure you're not taking some cue's from Elijah?" She teased, playfully.

William was beginning to wonder if he'd bitten off more than he could chew at Mac's comment and the mischievous glint in her eye that accompanied it, but the alcohol in his system made sure he didn't consider backing down for even a second. Mackenzie followed up her promise with another kiss, prompting Will to return it with more enthusiasm than his last. As much as he'd savored the flavor of the whiskey from its glass, he quickly decided he enjoyed sampling it more this way.

Hearing Mac shift her position on the couch, he moved back just far enough to give her enough room, not breaking the kiss until she did. Will felt her hand on his knee along with the gentle squeeze that followed, making no move to stop her. "Are you sure you're not taking some cue's from Elijah?"

William smirked at the remark. "Maybe," he said as he reached up to tuck Mackenzie's hair behind her ear. Then, emboldened by the whiskey and the moment, all awkwardness forgotten, he added quietly, "...But I like to think I have my own charms." He leaned in, planting a line of light kisses along her cheek and the top of her neck, stopping only at her ear -- payback for the playful nip she'd given him earlier. He felt as if he was on autopilot; some part of him knew the liquor was having an effect on him, on both of them, yet he couldn't bring himself to break off the moment.

Mackenzie smiled and gave a light laugh at William's first, rather uncertain, reply. She delighted in the notion that she could put him off balance with this permission. She wanted to test his limits, see where he would draw the line, however she certainly had not been prepared for him to reciprocate. She watched him with great interest as his fingers gently brushed her hair behind her ear. Eyes widened slightly as his lips trailed equally gentle kisses cross her cheek and at her neck. She closed her eyes and hissed with pleasure, the teasing sending a delightful shiver down her spine.

"Charms," She whispered breathlessly, "is an understatement." She had certainly not expected this sort of boldness from the otherwise strict man before her, and in the spirit of their playful game she pushed further. Lips found his ear once more, she continued to speak softly. "Now, now, Doc." She gave a quiet laugh. "Keep this up and my bills will be paid in full. Then what fun would we have?"

Brendan soon enough stepped into the command tent Maxwell and Anna directly behind him. Within his hand was the letter that Hypnos had left them from Hades. He had read over the god's want, another mission where they were requested to obtain and deliver yet another goddess; at the very least this one wasn't not under duress, yet. As much as he and the Council did not want to go through with this mission, they were all too aware there was simply no choice. He came to the front of the long table and waited for the ten or so hunters to quiet before speaking.

"We have received a request to pick up a hunter needing relocating." The Council had thought it best not to express that this mission was related the gods in any fashion. After New York and Pan, announcing that there was a third request from the gods might well put Vitae over. "A young woman in New Jersey needs to be collected an returned to Vitae. We have her location. I will be sending one car of four to leave tomorrow morning at first light. You will take turns driving there and back, I do not want you to stop for anything other than necessities. Christoper will take lead on this, Bruce, Aiden to assist and Ashley-May your the medic on his mission." He looked over the group carefully, waiting. "Any questions?"

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May listened to Brendan run down the mission, simple retrieval; it shouldn't be difficult. She was not at all surprised that she was to be sent on the run with them, after all there were only two hunter medics, and William was now part of the Council. With no one having any questions for Brendan, they were dismissed. Outside the tent she found the three men she was assigned to travel with.

"Bruce, Aiden, nice to see you again." She smiled in her typical perky voice, she turned to the third man. "Hi, Christoper? I'm Ashley-May." She held out her hand as an introduction and was not disappointed when the man took it.

"I'm Chis," He replied, giving her a slight smile. "I guess we'll meet here tomorrow morning, say, 4AM and head out." After a short discussion of whose vehicle they would take, the group parted ways. Ashley turned towards the direction of the house, wanting to check in on Mac before calling it an early night.

Goosebumps across William's skin as Mackenzie's lips pressed against his ear, delivering her whispered message. Her soft laugh brought a warmth to his chest that he couldn't chalk up to the whiskey alone. He paused at the words that followed, his smile returning.

"We can't have that," Will said, matching her quiet tone. "Are you sure--" he paused mid-sentence to place another gentle kiss along her jawline, his hand resting on her knee to support himself as he leaned in. "...that I don't have any interest to work with?" he added, lifting his mouth just enough to speak, his voice muffled against her skin. Will traced his way up to her lower lip, leaving another kiss there before pulling his head away. He did his best to maintain a straight face, leaning back in his chair. "I'll leave it up to you. It's your financial future, after all," he said with a daring grin.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie watched William as he leaned back in his chair sure of himself with a grin on his lips. She was half surprised and half intrigued by this part of William, she never would have expected this sort of behavior from him, but she certainly couldn't say she wasn't enjoying herself. She arched and eye brow as her devilish grin spread across her lips listening to Williams final words. Challenge accepted.

She said nothing as she slowly rose from the couch, leaning forward over William and his chair, her hands slipped over his shoulders to grasp the back of the chair as she carefully brought herself to sit on his lap. It was more of a feat that she had first expected, the combination between her being rather small and William larger than the average man made it so her toes barely touched to the ground, knees on either side of his hips. She leaned inwards, lips brushing against his own and whispered. "Well.... You may have a little interest to play with."

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May walked the short distance to the house in no particular hurry, while she wanted to see how Mac was; she hadn't seen her since this morning, she wasn't certain if the smaller hunter forgave her. She wanted to clear the air from the night before, apologize to Mac for getting William involved in their drama. She hoped that William was able to get past what she'd done, the night before he had seemed distraught between her calling him dangerous and him finding out that she and Mac had once, recently, been a thing.

She arrived at the front of the house and noted that both the vehicles were gone, she found it odd that Mac hadn't already reclaimed her car and couldn't imagine what was distracting her from doing so. Up the few steps to the house she found a large manila envelope resting against the front door, it had Councilmen Hendrix scrawled across the front of it. She picked it up and was surprised as the weight within it.

William had wanted to give Mackenzie an out... if she wanted it. He framed it as a challenge to go along with this little game they were playing, but even with the booze affecting him, the intention had been sincere enough. He didn't have to wait long before he saw the mischievous smirk appear as she leaned forward to climb into his lap. Their height disparity meant that he didn't have to look up to lock eyes with her as her petite frame settled into place. Her lips met his, "Well.... You may have a little interest to play with."

William felt his skin flush involuntarily, hormones that he hadn't felt for a long time flooding his system. "Good to know," he murmured, leaning forward to gently nuzzle the base of her neck. One hand came to rest at her side, the other on her hip, attempting to avoid the area around her wound.

lTruth to be told, Thor was suprised at how much authority that Thanatos held now that Death was gone, as he was but a shadow of the Horseman, but at least he took this seriously, and he seemed to involve himself more than the old one did. And whilst he did not think that he would need any help from hunters, the angel Alaric could be of some use, despite him not being as powerful as the likes of Thor and Hades. But, he did need to find Persephone to retrieve her, and having hunters working with him would help a great deal.

Thor looked at Hades sternly when he uttered the final sentence, he knew that Hades meant what he said when he said that he would rip the Earth open, and to prevent it, Thor would have to intervene directly and likely battle him, a battle that he could lose "Do not worry, I will retrieve Persephone, but first I have some interrogating to do. Inform me if you find out anything new." He cast a final glance at the sigils, before he left he added "But try to do it your way, and I will stop you."

Thor then disappeared in a flash of lightning.

Mackenzie froze, surprised by the sudden very affectionate touch from William. She wasn't really sure what she had been expecting. Maybe another teasing comment? Or perhaps a different gesture? She smiled slowly, body relaxing under his touch. Eyes would close and she would lean forward, against his chest, forehead pressed to his shoulder as she felt his lips once more teasing her neck. There was a moment she didn't know what to do with her hands, soon finding them holding him in return. One had resting gently behind his neck, finger tips stroking through his short hair whilst the other settled on his waist, holding to the material of his shirt.

She remained silent, enjoying the simple intimacy between them. She still did not understand how he'd so easily got under her skin, broken down that kept her safely emotionally detached. She gave a quietly laugh before speaking, almost in a whisper. "If I knew meat pie and pastries were rewarded with this, I would have made you dinner sooner."

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May wandered into the front of the house, she felt no real need to knock; she had been a resident up until the night before, and now that Alaric had disappeared on her, she was considering returning to the house. Stepping through the front hall she glanced into the kitchen to see the two plate settings left behind, she gave a slight frown recalling the last time she came back to witness someone leaving behind a mess Mackenzie had booked it.

"Hello?" She called out as she walked further into the house, past the first bedroom -empty, then into the living room where she paused and stared. It took her a few seconds to realize what, exactly, she was looking at, but when she clued in, she smirk. "Well you two certainly move quickly." She said with a smirk, envelope was tossed onto the coffee table next to the ice packs and whiskey bottle, she dropped down onto the couch, almost lounging. She slowly crossed one leg over the other. "Don't mind me. Please, continue." She knew well enough this would annoy Mackenzie, she could only hope William would see it for the joke that it was.

William felt Mac lean into his touch, returning it with her own. Feeling her fingers run gently through his close-cropped hair, every ounce of tension in his muscles drained. Hormones or not, he felt... relaxed. He was truly at peace for the first time in years and it wasn't something he could simply chalk up to the effects of the alcohol. Will had no intention of trying to push her any further... he was content to stay here, enjoying the simple embrace for as they could. Hearing Mac's whisper, he chuckled against the crook of her neck, opening his mouth to continue their playful banter.

"Well you two certainly move quickly."

Will froze, jerking his neck upwards and whirling around to face the source of the voice. Ash. His heart skipped a beat as the woman casually tossed and envelope onto the table, sinking into the couch with the most casual of demeanors, as if she'd walked in on... literally anything else. "Don't mind me. Please, continue." William was still locked in place, eyes wide, like a deer in the headlights. He'd been taught to never freeze in stressful situations: always move, always assess, always respond.

But all of that training and experience was of no help here -- bullets flying at him were one thing. Ashley's smug smirk? That was something else altogether. He could feel an amount of blood rushing to his cheeks that even he as a trained medic had to admit was probably unsafe. Will hadn't even thought to move his hands to a less... compromising position. He opened his mouth to reply, but nothing came. No explanation, no apology, not even a rebuff born of embarrassment. Finally, he managed to force out two, simple words, devoid of any inflection: "Hi, Ash."

dx0HE3H.jpg

She heard Ashley's voice and felt William tense beneath. She didn't move, she was far from embarrassed, this was not the first time, nor would likely be the last time, Ashley had caught her in a rather personal act, however this was the first time Mackenzie actually cared. She raised her head from leaning against Will's shoulder to look over it. Ashley casually sitting on the couch, Mac rested her chin on William's shoulder as Will spoke first. She could see Ashley's triumph, knew the woman absolutely loved to get under peoples skin and she knew full well that at least part of the reason how and why Will and herself had grown together as quickly as the had was because of Ashley's constant need to 'match-maker' people together.

William's answer was not scathing enough for Mac, and by Ashley's reaction she could clearly she had managed to embarrass William. Mac's arms slid tighter around Will, holding herself against him and refusing to abandon his lap and his arms just yet. "Don't be jealous." She said, voice cold, but far from harsh, almost teasing. "That's what happens when you bail on me: I find someone better."

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May was delighted to see Will turning crimson, even if his greeting didn't come with a boyish squeak in his voice, she was counting as a victory. However when Mac looked at her with her calculating gaze she momentarily thought she made a fatal mistake. Maybe this was the wrong guy to do this with... But then Mac spoke and Ashley laughed. She rolled her eyes dramatically and clutched her hands to her heart. "Oh!" She fake cry-moaned. "Poor me!" She gave the false crying an attempt for a few second but gave up, standing from the couch, and walking past the two towards the kitchen.

"Will, I brought your mail in." She said as she passed through the threshold. "You two make any--" She stopped speaking as she passed into the kitchen, only to return to the doorway with a deep-fried pastry, half bitten, in her hand. "Seriously Mac?" She said, mouth full. "You made the something de castors and didn't tell me?" She stepped back into the kitchen to continue her search for what Mac had made for dinner only to hear her yell.

"Save some for Eli!"

Will was stunned. He had half-expected Mackenzie to abandon him for the relative safety of the couch, to angrily go after Ash, or to show some visible sign of embarrassment. But there was none. Instead, she did the exact opposite, tightening her grip around him and delivering a witty retort; it took a moment for him to realize that Mac was joking... which only served to confuse him further. Ash remarked, still utterly casual, that she had brought his mail in. Then, without missing a beat, she was suddenly complaining that Mac had served dinner without her.

As the latter lightly chided her to save some for Eli, Will (face still flushed) turned to make eye contact with Mackenzie, their faces only inches apart. "Is this a regular thing for you two or something?" he asked, more incredulous than accusing. He stopped, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. "You know what, forget I asked." His eyes fell to the envelope laying on the coffee table that Ashley had placed there. Councilman Hendrix was scrawled on the front. He finally lifted his hand from Mac's hip, reaching for the envelope.

It was a stretch, but despite his lingering embarrassment, Will couldn't bring himself to free himself from the seat and Mac's grip. Snagging a corner of the letter, he pulled it to himself and used his free hand to open it. Reaching in, his hand removed the largest object inside first: his cell phone. He frowned, more out of surprise than anything. The device looked undamaged, but he assumed he'd seen the last of it after his transformation. Setting it aside, the next two objects he withdrew were each a set of keys -- one for his truck, the other for Mac's sedan. Finally, Will almost missed the last item. A folded up note, with two small lines of handwritten text:

Burned your clothes. Thank me later.
- Bart
Will smiled, turning the note around to show Mackenzie. Then, his eyes flitting to the kitchen doorway to confirm Ash was out of sight, his smile took on a mischievous turn as he settled for one final bold act before the whiskey wore off and left him with little more than a hangover for his trouble: he reached his hand behind Mac's back, slipping her keys into her back pocket and patting them twice before withdrawing his hand. "We should do this again sometime," he said quietly.

dx0HE3H.jpg

Mackenzie smiled to Will slyly when he asked if this was a common occurrence with her and Ashley, and if the man had wanted answer, she wouldn't have given him one. He was far too easy to tease and get a reaction from, and she certainly would use this as ammunition in the future. After all, he had given her permission to make him uncomfortable when ever she pleased. She watched him remove the contents of the envelope, followed by the note; she knew Bart certainly was among those trustworthy, but what confused her was why did he have her keys?

"We should do this again sometime,"

She leaned in ward and gave his lips a quick kiss before taking her cue and removing herself from his lap, hand reaching behind her to touch where he'd placed the keys. "Do I want to know why you had them?" She wasn't even sure where they had been for him to retrieve them, last time she recalled seeing them was when she had been teleported back into the colony by the angel. Ashley was returning from the kitchen, still stuffing her face. More pastry in one hand, while she ate a slice of meat pie from the other. She made a noise in the back of her throat. "I better get some over to Eli before Ashley eats it all. I'll bring over the bag you packed too."

She went into the kitchen as Ashley returned to the living room and put together a plate of food for Eli. She slung the bag Will had packed over her shoulder before heading out the front door.

GxQZJgl.jpg

Ashley-May more or less ignored Mac's clear annoyance with her presence, she knew very well that Mac not reacting to her walking in on their private moment was more for Will any herself. She wandered back into the living to return to where she had been sitting on the couch, smiling to Will. "Glad to see you took what I said to heart." She said, half jokingly. She was happy to see that the two of them clearly happy together, but it wouldn't stop her from teasing. "Maybe next time you guys take it to the bedroom? Since, you know, you don't live here alone." She gave him a playful wink, taking another bite of the pie.

After swallowing she continued. "I came here to see how Mac's back was doing, I'm going to guess by the ice packs she's still sore. Anything new? Or should be concerned about?" As much as she knew that Will was taking care of it, but she still had her own medical concerns. She knew Mac well enough to know she would underplay any serious issues, and Will still had a lot to learn about her before Ash would trust he'd catch everything.

Will reluctantly let Mackenzie slide from his lap. When she asked about him having the keys, he simply shook his head once -- not a dismissal, but a delay. He'd be happy to explain the circumstances later. Seeing Ashley reenter the living room from the kitchen -- obviously enjoying the fruits of Mac's labor as much (if not more) than Will had -- Hendrix couldn't help but grin. His embarrassment faded slightly at the sight. "I better get some over to Eli before Ashley eats it all. I'll bring over the bag you packed too." Will nodded to Mackenzie. "Thanks. I'm sure he's bouncing off the walls for some company. Tell him I'll drop by later... and be careful." He watched her as she left, the smile still on his face. It took him a moment to realize that Ashley had plopped down on the couch in front of him, and Will turned to regard her cautiously.

Her typical dazzling smile disarmed him immediately and he couldn't help but return it, even as the embarrassment resurfaced at the comments that followed... especially the mention of the bedroom, which prompted him to rub at his temple, averting eye contact. Will wanted to discuss the subject of "them" with Ash -- to clear the air after she came clean to him behind the Clinic after New York. But he wasn't sure how to broach the subject -- and in truth it was the kind of thing he wanted to discuss sober. Ashley-May deserved that and more as far as he was concerned.

Instead, Will turned his attention to her inquiry about Mac's injury. He nodded, his tone taking on clinical aspect. "I'm glad you came by, I wanted to discuss that with you. Still sore, but the inflammation has decreased and I didn't see any sign of SSI. The dermal layers should start healing soon... but I'm concerned about what's going on below that. You've seen the lacerations -- they're a lot deeper at the middle of her back. She complained about lack of sensation in that area the day after the attack, but that was to be expected right after the injury... but it's still there."

He sighed. "I think some of the nerve endings in that area were severed. I don't know how severe it is and frankly it's out of my league. Even with the Clinic, that's specialized work. I don't know if they have the equipment or the staff for it." He took a deep breath before continuing, "So I asked Mac to consider seeing a specialist... out in the world." He paused. "She said she'd consider it. Really consider it."

The moment Mackenzie stepped out on to the front porch of the house she became quite aware of just how drunk she actually was. Within the walls of the small home she had felt confident that she could pull off normal, sober responses and actions during her visit to the clinic, but now feeling the cooling air, she knew it was really the opposite. There was absolutely no way she would turn back; she had a mission, save Eli from boredom and feed the man. She had been in his position not two days before, she understood how painful it was to be there and, in fact, and escaped the clinic the first morning. Descending the front steps she knew going through the front of the clinic and past the nurses would not get her anywhere, certainly not if Nurse Ratchet was still on duty. This meant Mac was headed for the back of the clinic.

She soon found herself at the door she had exited earlier and cautiously pulled it open. She peered inside quietly. Seeing no nurses or patients immediately she hurried through the door and directly to Elijah's room. There would be no knocking, Mac opened his door, stepped inside and closed it without making much of a sound. She paused to listen to foot steps and when she was satified she made it into the building without being detected she turned to see if Eli was awake.

Ashley-May ignored Will's moment of embarrassment, this time she hadn't wanted that effect, much, it had just been a friendly reminder that at any time someone could walk in. This house had become a central location for plenty of hunters so far and the fact that she had been the one to catch them was lucky for their part. She appreciated Will's straight talk about Mac's injury, too often she found the people at the clinic wanting to shy away from just telling her what was needed. She nodded along as he spoke, she understood the numbness would be common for that sort of injury, but she frowned. "I'm guessing she asked you for the ice, right?" She didn't need Will to answer to know the truth. "Gotta be careful with this sort of thing and Mac, she'll underplay her injury a lot. If she's asking for pain relief it means it's pretty bad."

She paused to consider the numb spot, "Do you know how large of a part of her is numb? Diameter wise? I wish we had recorded on the first day the size just to see if it's borders had changed at all." She gave him a doubtful smile as he mentioned Mac considering seeking the help of a specialist, eye brows raised. "Really? Like actually consider help?"

William had nodded his understanding -- and appreciation -- to Ashley-May as she explained Mac's tendency to downplay the severity of her injuries. He and Mac might be "close" now, but he didn't delude himself into thinking that he knew her nearly as well as Ash.

However, that quickly turned into a self-loathing grimace. "No, I didn't get a definitive measurement," Will remarked, annoyed at himself. It was an oversight on his part and Ashley-May had made a valid point.

Still, he couldn't prevent a slightly prideful smile from forming at Ash's dubious reply about the specialist. "I know. I didn't expect her to even consider it. I don't think she was just telling me what I wanted to hear... I think she was serious," he paused, glancing at the now much lighter bottle of whiskey sitting beside them. "That, or it was the booze," he said uncertainly.

The soup had hit the spot, but Elijah was still beyond hungry. He resisted the urge to call for Sandy and ask for more. Neediness wasn't attractive, after all.

Resigned to hunger and boredom, Elijah had been close to dozing off when he heard the door to his room swing open. Glancing toward it, he saw Mackenzie enter -- perhaps a little unsteadily -- and shut the door behind her. "Uh, hello Mac. To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked, noting that she was carrying two bundles with her.

Mackenzie smiled seeing Elijah was up and awake, he still had a sickly parlor which made her grimace only slightly but she was happy to hear the English accent still cocky as ever. "Came to give you some relief." She said, words slightly slurred as she spoke.

She approached the bed and carefully deposited the bag Will had packed beside it on the floor but within reach. "From Will, so if it's missing something you can blame him later." She turned and dragged a chair so she could sit closer to the beds edge. She uncovered the plate revealing two slices of meat pie and several pastries. "They gave you soup, right?" She didn't need him to answer to know the truth, she had had the same meal just days before. "Exactly why I escaped and made bacon." She held the plate close enough he could take as he please, fully aware he wouldn't have the strength to hold it himself. "Will sends his love." She teased.

Ashley-May was surprised to hear Wills confidence that he managed to convince Mac to see someone about her injury. "Well," She started, finishing off the rest of her food. "That's a good sign," she smiled and gave a little laugh. "Goes to show you what I said was true. You do something to her; you make her think twice, actually care." She leaned forward and gave his leg a playful smack.

"Don't worry about earlier," She continued, she had heard him raise concerns about privacy to Mac. "I was only teasing you, didn't mean to make you worry, but you are in the middle of the living room, anyone could have walked in, you just so happen to get me."

Sandy started her final evening rounds, wanting to check in one last time on the only two paitents the Clinic currently had before heading home for the evening. She left the front desk and nurses station and headed into the back. She bypassed Elijah room: the man needed rest and really she would only need to peak in to see if he was even awake. Instead she headed to Solomon's room.

"Mr. David." She called before stepping in, slightly surprised to see he had a visitor; she hadn't seen anyone come in. "Sorry to interrupt," She smiled to the two. "Just checking in to see if you need anything. I'm going to pick up dinner at the Mess Hall, any requests?"

Will allowed himself a nervous smile at Ashley-May's remark that he had such a positive effect on Mackenzie, raising a hand to rub the back of his neck. "Don't worry about it, you didn't make me anxious. We'll show a little more... discretion, in the future. Things moved quickly," he said, feeling the flush return to his cheeks, dissuading him from pursuing that particular train of thought any further. "As for me having that effect on her... I think it goes both ways," he said quietly, eyes flicking briefly to the ground.

He paused, looking back up. "Does this mean you're coming back to the house?" he said, his tone hopeful. Will genuinely enjoyed Ashley's company. Hell, he considered her a good friend, even if they hadn't known each for more than a few days. And, despite what she might say, William knew Ash was a good influence on Mackenzie. "I'm sure Mac will be happy to have her roomie back," he said, his tone a bit unsure after Ashley-May's previous reference to the bedroom.

"Will sends his love."

"You, miss, are a terrible liar," Elijah teased back, eyes widening as they came to rest on the assortment of foods she was offering him. "Is that... queues de castor? And tourtiére?!" he asked, nailing the pronunciation with only the slightest accent. Though he was more familiar with traditional French dishes than their Canadian derivatives, his well-traveled aunt & uncle had exposed him to Quebecois meals when he was young... and he hadn't forgotten them since.

Eli lifted one hand -- ignoring the soreness that flared up -- taking one of the beaver tails in-hand and slowly biting into it. He closed his eyes, groaning as he chewed. "Vous êtes un saint..." he mumbled between bites. Fetching the spoon still sitting the now-empty soup bowl, he proceeded to dig into the meat pie next. After taking the edge off of his hunger, Davenport paused to look up at Mac. Hearing a noise in the hallway, he glanced past her at the closed door for a moment before returning his attention to Mackenzie. "Sorry. I don't want Nurse Sandy giving me a stern talking-to. I'm still trying to win that one over with my irresistible charm."

"Now," he began thoughtfully. "Far be it from me to judge -- or to bite the hand that quite literally feeds --" he held up the spoon in his hand for emphasis, "but how much have you had to drink tonight? And I almost hesitate to ask with who..." Elijah said, waggling one eyebrow suggestively.
