Realistic or Modern Supernatural/Modern Fantasy RP?

Devin, Maine: an unassuming town on the rocky eastern coast, the site of a few urban legends, shrouded by mist for a good part of the year, but otherwise not noteworthy to most. In fact, it's a hotbed of supernatural activity, with 15% of its population consisting of supernaturals and another 10% consisting of humans who are aware of the supernatural world. Vampire clans vie for power, lycanthropes hunt in the ancient surrounding forests, faeries view humans as playthings, secret police attempt to protect the innocent, and stranger beings stir in the waters offshore. (Other creatures can probably be playable if you let me know in advance). I know that this general concept isn't particularly original or unique, but it's a fun one that doesn't seem to be currently represented on this site in its purest form. I've been thinking about making it focused on high school with teenage characters in order to connect players more easily, but I want to leave it up to public opinion. So I've attached a form above!

Nothing too fancy, just the ability to form a coherent paragraph and not disappear from the RP after two posts.

As for the number of players, by the way, I'll pretty much take as many as I can get.

Is it okay if I play as a fallen god? I'm down for finding a way to balance that without being OP. I had this kind of concept of being an immortal from a forgotten age who hangs around modern supernaturals.

A fallen god might be too much, unless maybe you’ve lost most of your powers and probably won’t regain them. Did you have the idea of a vaguely Thor-like character, like a demigod or ancient immortal hero (not necessarily from another planet/dimension)? Because I think that would be a cool concept.

actually a depowered goddess seems fine. I like the idea of a goddess who used to be nigh-omnipotent and is reduced to a shell of her former self. I’m okay playing a character who won’t ever get their power back.

The game will revolve around a town, but it'll be surrounded by miles of wilderness. The great evil I've planned for the story will not begin connected to human civilization. Not to mention that there will be many hidden locations in town as well.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking of including that! And since I feel I have enough interest, the CS will be up tomorrow or maybe even tonight if I can bring myself to stay up. As for the poll results, the high school theme won, but not by a landslide, so I’ll try to have some focus outside of the school at all times.

Like others had said I’d love some eldritch themes or anything like lovecraftian horror, but the potential high school theme puts me off a little? I just wanted to ask if this going in the direction of say teen wolf, vampire diaries type shows. Justbc I’m personally not into them. Sorry for the ranty post!​

I'm hoping it's less like those shows, and more something like Stranger Things. A bunch of kids who may or may not known about supernatural forces slowly uncovering forces beyond their comprehension.

I can't say that it won't involve the typical "vampire and werewolf teens trying to live in normal society" tropes, but I'll try to focus much more on adventure (with a heavy dose of Lovecraftian horror) than teen angst. If my own interests and media consumption are the primary metric, I'll take much more inspiration from Stranger Things than Vampire Diaries.
