"Yeah. Yeah I'm sure." He walks outside. "Besides, even though we've been at peace the last few days, I can't let my guard down."

Makoto made the signs of the cross seeing Scout like this. He had nothing but shock in his eyes. Slowly he began to wonder, the people he has killed before, the lives he ruined. Who else had he made feel what he feels now?
"Does it sing songs and call himself Jiminey Cricket?" Rage chuckled
"I see.." she nods listening
(I mean either way someone was goin to fall into a depressive funk, at least Scout is taking it out doing life threatening missions to help people than trying to take over the world)
"We were told you jumped in front of the grenade. Good job you must have protected alot of people.." she said
"Yeah... Heroic." He said. "Doesn't matter. It was my life vs ten others. Easy desicion."
Makoto slowly began to return to reality. He adjusted his eyepatch "Such a decision is not always easy." He said
"It was for me." He said simply. "Easy to sacrifice yourself when you don't have a reason to keep going."
Stalker ignored Rage. “It was never ending, day and night all I could think about was this incessant little voice I could barely hear, for an entire year I thought I was losing my mind. However, one day that changed, I was in a dark alley somewhere doing my usual routine back then of trying to get a grip on reality, when this group of thugs walked up to me, apparently the alley was theirs, they intended to beat me, they never expected me to gut them open in retaliation, eheheheh, and when the bloodlust had settled, the whispering had stopped, that was the first time since my father that I ever killed someone.”
"You should see a doctor about that." Susan said. Rage smirked at her comment
Maddy frowned. "You shouldn't say that..." She looked down.
Makoto remained silent.
"Hmm. Ok" she said as she crossed her arms
"It's not your fault." Scout said. "Everything I've done up to now had been pointless. I was on security detail too. I let my emotions get the better of me that day. I wasn't paying enough attention. And when it came down to it I couldn't protect my friends..." He said. "The only person to blame for how I am is me."
"You're wrong..." Makoto said "You have no idea how wrong you are."
"We're all blaming our selves for Peter's death" she said
He ignored Susan, “But, the voice kept coming back, so I kept killing, and it kept going away. However, as I kept killing the voice became louder, and clearer, I could hear what it was saying, this is what it wanted, it wanted me to hear it, to listen, so I did. I listened to what it had to say, it told me that I was its’ child, and as its’ first initiated child I had certain responsibilities. I am to find my brothers and sisters, others who have been touched by the shadows, and help them along their true path, and I am to bring the world into utter chaos, and once it is done, everything will change.”
"Wrong huh?" He closed his eyes. "In what way exactly. I failed to keep my promise to Maddy, I failed to protect Peter, and in the end I failed to truly be a better person. Every day I think about how easy it would be. How much fun it would be to just go back and be a a Merc again. To kill to earn my keep. No person who's actually changed for the better thinks like that. Let's be honest. I'm still the same guy who kidnapped Maddy and tried to sellout Diana and Ryder for a few bucks at heart."
"So us that control shadows" she said glancing at susan
"Does this mean we have to kill Jack Black? I like Jack Black." Susan said. Rage chuckled "Ironic it is, the heart of a child that kills, somehow still pure."
Makoto held his head up at that response "That... I did not know about." Makoto chuckled "I despised you... I hated you so much... and now I realize... it was because I was looking in a mirror." He sat down next to Scout "You and I were never that different. You changed to be better, I changed to be better. And we both kidnapped Maddy, or at least I tried to. We were killers without a conscious, destined to die for blood money. The truth is Scout. I was never supposed to live this long."
Maddy listened to them talk.
"And I've been cloned and recloned after death so often I don't even know if I'm the same as the original or not." He said. "At one point I took solace in knowing I'd respawn. I made uncessary risks because of it... But we all decided it was time to stop. The next time we kick it. We kick it." He said. But with the position he was in he was clearly still taking this unnecessary risks.
"Fate... fate should've prevented us from seeing this day..." Makoto said "And yet... here we stand. One has to ask... is their a purpose?"
