The guy can take care of himself. Look people are gonna hurt him regardless of how he knows you. He's gone insane, been kidnapped, tortured, killed twice, and took a friggin bomb to the face. He will never not get hurt. He's a known associate of other heroes and is way too relaxed to ever be on guard. He's also an idiot who thinks that somehow he deserves less than you.

Exhibit B you call yourself a villain but you've been clawing and fighting trying to prove to yourself you can do bad things that you don't care about anymore. Sam isn't looking for a hero. He doesn't need a hero he's never wanted to get with a hero. He's not a hero he's guy who doesn't like it when criminals interrupt his place of business. He wants someone he thinks is dependable.
Sam sat in his room thinking about Roxie. Kinda wishing he could just forget these feelings but unable too.

Fine. Have it your way. I'll leave. By the way Sam is actually more depressed now since he basically thinks that your feelings aren't real. He is so convinced that he doesn't deserve to have a good life that he's convinced himself that you only told him that you felt something to shut me up. Ta-Ta. He went silent. (Sam doesn't think he deserves good things. He still feels guilty about being a villain.
