The fox tilted his head and pondered these words. Let her in.....to his heart? Betrayal? It was a difficult line to trace. He was merely a canine animal, and wasn't very good at decoding things like this.

Nax had no idea why he bothered to listen to them for reasons other than identifying a possible threat to the child. He'd likely never encounter these people again. So why did his ears listen so intently? Perhaps it was a faint spark of familiarity from the days before he guarded the children of the family that had bound him. Perhaps he was simply curious.
