It got to a point where he was invincible. It took the mightiest of wizards, monks, necromancers, and other willing souls to conjure a scroll that contained a spell used to bring back what he erased. It weakened him just enough for them to be able to seal him in an interdimensional prison. The spell killed everyone involved, but that's because it was rushed. Arkalas, the Nightmare of Fear remained imprisoned until he tricked some spellcasters into believing he'd make them omniscient. They foolishly released him a few months back, and now he's back erasing everything. It'll be a while before he gets here, but parts of his many armies have already shown up."
