Yes, they would harm him if he were to exert himself too much. Prolonged use would cause him to be severely exhausted, lose his focus and heat up to high temperatures.

I think my CS is done. Also with Carmine, Aquamari and Danny we have three characters with some reference to Fire, Water and Air, just need Earth to complete the set.

Well we're mostly looking for students. So no villains. However I'm planning on discussing characters who are a part of the main villain group at some point.
So I guess as long as he's a first year student then we're good.
